Holy balls this is some ultra-callous shit you guys are pushing.

DJ AM was a talented DJ, a popular man and above all - a fellow human being.

Have some fucking compassion. "Oh it's his own fault for all teh drugs." You say the same to any smoker who dies of lung cancer?" - Wait, half of you probably do, why am I even bothering.
Ergh, my opinion of these forums has fallen greatly in the last 10 minutes.

And for the record DJ Hero looks awesome and should be on par with guitar hero for gameplay.
You mean it's NOT his fault for over-dosing on drugs? You mean people who smoke don't run the risk of dying from lung cancer?

I suppose people who commit suicide are just victims as well eh?

At the risk of sounding terribly insensitive, to be quite honest I have little "compassion" for people who directly and resolutely bring about their OWN misfortune.
If you go out drinking with your mates, and drink way past your limit, then decide that you can still 'drive yourself' home and wrap your car around a tree winding up in a wheelchair for life, sorry, I have absolutely no pity for you.

Did I personally know him? Not at all.
Did you personally know him? Probably not.
Was he a talented DJ? Depends on who you ask.
Is it a shame a human being died? Sure.
Could it have been prevented? Absolutely.

Is it anybody's fault but his own?
Not in the least.

I recall back when he survived that plane crash with Travis Barker. If he had died in that, I'd feel compassionate. You would think an event would cause a person to re-examine his life, being faced with death and all that and being one of the precious few people who ever walked away from a Plane crash.

THIS, however, was a stupid, senseless death that didn't need to happen. So why should anyone or I care about it? The guy remixed MUSIC, he didn't cure cancer.

In the words of Bad Religion, it's all just Drunk Sincerity.

For all the joking that comes out of this I would yet also have to admit that I don't have any clue who this guy was. Nonetheless, ettiquette forbids to joke or talk bad about a dead man and apparently he must have left SOME impression in the world to SOME people to be recognized by anyone.

Whereever you are, Goldstein. May you rest in peace.

Can't put it any better than this, well said Darenus.

yeah,I'm gonna go with "who?"

but in all seriousness,he did do the drugs apparently,so he new the consequences.he is dead, life moves on.
he was a below average DJ, then the drugs took hold and he became an average DJ, don't get me wrong he had the talent its just he wasn't that passionate about music since the drugs.

and on the celeBRATy death front I thought Amy Winehouse was dead, but according to friends, she's still alive and kicking, sucks though.... since she wont be releasing any good music from now on.

For there people its better that they die young, they get to be a martyr then, never growing old fat and talentless (see madonna)
Ahem. I assume you meant, "plastic and talentless."

Yeah, kinda sucks for him.

What, you're never going to be caught off guard? Don't be so uptight. Our society is built around assuming that we are going to screw up.

~EDIT~

Argh! Double post!

Sorry mods, I didn't think...

Would he even made the news if he didn't appear in the game?
Not gaming news, no, but he was a pretty high profile DJ, his death was covered by AP and probably the other major news agencies as well.

It's a conspiracy. Watch out, Bobby Kotick is coming in his Activision doom tank!

Or maybe it's just a coincidence (as always... suspicious).
Conspiracy eh...?

It explains why activition was so eager to get there hands on Brutal Legend. They wanted a good reason to murder Jack Black.

Of course, the AP covers when Obama goes to the head, and other trivial things.

Your new avatar makes me think of a Portal sentry gunner gone cyborg. It scares me!

They're still gonna use him as the PC? That's kinda creepy.
No creepier than them using Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix as playable characters.
Yeah but at least one of those two people was killed by a psychopathic drug abusing wife.

Or wait...are you suggesting this DJ was murdered!

It is? I thought our society would built around Actions and Consequences?

I don't ever go into ANYTHING assuming I'm going to screw up or that the people around me are going to screw up. I don't just assume that a coworker is going to 'screw up' and steal office supplies and get caught. I don't assume that a drunk driver is going to 'screw up' and kill a family of four in a terrible accident.
What I DO assume is that people will make "decisions" and those decisions have consequences.
You don't ACCIDENTALLY die of drugs, I've always found that to be moronic unless it's a case of ignorance or negligence... taking two prescribed drugs that have an adverse effect on you when your doctor TELLS you to, or taking a higher dosage by mistake are "accidents" but usually have a fault the points to someone else, like your doctor or pharmacist.
Overdosing on illegal party drugs that you took to get 'high' isn't an accident, it was a stupid decision that cost this man his life.

I'm sure some people feel a loss that he is gone because they considered him a talented musician (which is their opinion). But it's not worth me shedding a tear over because his death was a direct result of his own lifestyle choices.

He danced with the devil, and had to pay the piper.
Sorry, but I just don't have any pity or respect for him for that.

I suppose it serves as a warning to all those that even consider buying DJ "Activision Knows This Will Rake in More Filthy Lucre" Hero, though I suppose that's all about personal taste, and moral standards... and a hint of extreme right-wing politics... and a hatred of puppies.

And yeah, I think I shall also go with "who?". I wouldn't exactly call such an unknown person a celebrity.

This sucks. I can't say much about him though, I only remember him because I think he did stuff with Travis Barker. But it's always sad when someone dies.
