Dont judge an post by its avatar thats what I was always taught! That and have an avatar of yourself, so when sombody comes looking for you, they know who are!

No way, an childish avatar would be a lolcat or something

(deep apologies to anybody who does, in fact, have a lolcat as their avatar)
I hate to sound thick (but I'm naturally blonde, not my fault) but what is a lolcat?

I usually don't care about avatars that people choose, but it is impossible for me to take somebody seriously if their avatar is a pair of bouncing boobs (which happens to be a very popular avatar on some forums).

Real boobs or anime boobs? I've seen a few anime ones around here, bouncing away like nobody's business.

I remember people by their avatar. I always glance at the avatar before I read someone's post but I don't disregard a post because of the avatar or lack there of.

I think an avatar should say something about you, I'm obsessed with parkour so I chose the symbol of parkour.

Even though I have an anime avatar, im really not that much into anime. Great teacher Onizuka was just one of the few I really enjoyed watching. (whats not funny about a 22 year old ex biker gang member who becomes a teacher to hit on 16 year old girls?) I also enjoyed other ones, but having a FMA or Hellsing avatar isnt very original and might even create more prejudice.

My point is, dont judge a book by the cover. (and try watching GTO, shh)

I think the avatar is like your face on the Escapist, in that it's what people see first of you. So yeah, I think that avatars do matter, as they distuinguish you from everybody else on the website.

Real but obviously fake at the same time. It doesn't really matter though, whether it's real or anime it's still very distasteful.

I couldn't care less what avatars people have. Just because someone has a stupid avatar doesn't mean their points are any less valid.

Edit: This thread makes me wonder, what do people think when they see my avatar?

That you have a happy exterior with a dark, raging persona hiding just beneath the surface!

I guess Avatars are basically a way of expressing yourself to the people of the internets...<-- did do that on purpose.

It's what everyone sees, I change my depending on how I feel. So I reckon they're pretty important.

I don't really find avatars all that important, but I guess I am drawn to some more than others...so, I guess they're moderately important.

To me, avatars are more important than those word thingies a little to the right of them.

Still, I won't overlook what somebody has to say because I don't like their avatar; I can always hold my thumb over the avatar until I'm done reading their post.

i find that Avatars are just a way to easily identify people and have abit of originality, and occasionally a laugh.
