Do folks recognize you?

I've been here for quite a while now, but unlike a lot of people, I don't have a massive post count, so I doubt it, although I think my avatar catches a few peoples eyes.

I recognise you... and Greyfox, and Marter, latenightapplepie, and waayyy more in this thread.

I think now that I've hit 4,000 posts people are beginning to recognise me. Yayz.

Er, people won't notice you if you don't quote them. People don't tend to look back through threads they've already posted on.

Aaaanndd there's thousands of users without avatars... I wouldn't go for that look. :/

IRL I have a way of knowing only 25% of the people that know me and my skill to remember names of persons, streets, products or the like is close to 5%.
I'm still not sure if thats good or bad, but it confirms what happens here from my perspective. I "know" roughly 1 in 4 in this thread by avatar, maybe 1 in 20 by name if I'm lucky.
I doubt anyone would actually know me tho. I'm quite selective on which threads to reply, yet on the other hand I do post with my own face as an avatar which usually sticks out in a jungle of social masquerade.

Ah, you used to have a Higurashi avatar, did you not? For some reason, I think there is another person who uses that avatar as well. Or am I imagining things?

I did indeed, of a stern looking Hanyu. The Higurashi User group use a fairly similar one, but I've never seen anyone else use it, but there could be.

I recognize people though their avatars not their names...in fact I recognize more people in this thread because I added them to my ignore list [and thus the fact they've posted stands out] than knowing them because they post quality; which is a shame. Regardless, does it really matter if you're known or not? 90% of them time the more "famous" members were "famous" because they posted a lot of often mediocre posts, but did it so frequently you'd always see them. The only member I recall everyone recognizing due to the quality of their posts was NewClassic, who is now a mod.

Kinda off topic but I'm only just after realise there is an ignore list in profile settings after that post.
