If I hated playing as a female character I'd be missing out on a fuckload of games I rather enjoyed so thankfully not.
^ this needs to happen more - players not getting a choice to be one gender or t'other.Colour Scientist said:I'm playing through ME with Ms Shepard at the moment and I love her but it would be cool to see more female characters as the main protagonist when it isn't just a custom character.
So you are missing out on games like Tomb Raider, Beyond Good & Evil, Alien: Isolation and The Longest Journey, simply because the MC is female? Are you serious? That's so sad...Diesel- said:So my friends, do you dislike games where we play as female characters? i dont play games where we play as female characters. i refuse to play such games. what about you?
This, basically.Phasmal said:Ew, no.
I play ladies at every opportunity.8bitOwl said:I'm trying to figure out if, by chance, this is a not-so-well-disguised troll topic.
Let me put it this way: male privilege. If you don't want to play as a female character in videogames, you can do so. If I don't want to play as a male character in videogames, I might as well change hobby.![]()
I don't mind playing as men. Pretty much all women who play games don't, because they kind of have to a lot of the time. However, I'd like more set lady protagonists. And whenever it's a game with any kind of personalisation/customisation of character, I generally go female for my first playthrough.
Well, I care because it's a character that could just as well be male, or a robot, or a duck.Vault101 said:why do I care that samus is female?
why do I care Chell from portal is female?
same thing...I just do, I just [i/]know[/i] that character is female and it matters...I can;t really explain why
mabye it taps into why people like masterchef or Gordon Freeman
Yeah, you keep using that word. But you've yet to convince or explain to anyone how girly is bad. *goes to watch my little pony*Diesel- said:Its because majority of Real Hardcore games have badass male protagonists. most of Girly games like JRPGs have female protagonists.Phasmal said:I don't mind playing as men. The most harmless flamewars in existence, since he's trying to start them in a place that is already thoroughly burned to cinders.Andy Shandy said:Ah Diesel, you're always hilarious in your attempts to start flamewars, I'll give you that. Bit predictable now like, but still, entertaining. Like watching a favourite show over and over again.
What even is this comment.CaptainCoxwaggle said:If they are a "warrior", "soldier", "knight", or "archer" then yes, I find it hard to take the game seriously (To be fair I have the same opinion of any skinny and/or effeminate man in the same role)
Otherwise I'm completely fine with them as long as they are tolerable characters in the first place.
Care to elaborate? I'm interested in knowing why.Diesel- said:So my friends, do you dislike games where we play as female characters? i dont play games where we play as female characters. i refuse to play such games. Prefer playing as male characters.

Read his posts on page 1. He says something about games with female protagonists being too "girly" for him, and how he only likes "Real Hardcore" games (none of which have female protagonists, apparently).CpT_x_Killsteal said:Care to elaborate?
