I can't stand watching any form of anime, so yes, I do have a problem with 'girly anime'.

Not really. I'll pretty much watch anything...except for shonen...god I hate shonen..
Aww...I'm assuming that hatred includes Gurren Lagann, but no Full Metal Alchemist, Rurouni Kenshin, or Slayers either?
Ok, I guess I can stand some shonen, the main ones being Black Cat and Shaman King, but most others..I dunno, I just can't stand them, I'm more of a Seinen person; shows like Hellsing, Samurai Champloo, and the Gundams(which I think kind of borders the line).

I'll watch/read shojo/yaoi, some of the best stories I've seen in anime come from shojo(I loved Absolute Boyfriend)..I just have a general distaste for Shonen or series that go over the 30 episode breaking point(excluding the Gundams).

Girly as in romance between awkward boys and their childhood friend/tsundere/wacky-action-reality-altering-god-girl?

Nope. No problem.

Girly as in romance between awkward boys and their childhood friend/tsundere/wacky-action-reality-altering-god-boy?

Yeah. Not really into Yaoi.
I believe he means shoujo manga and anime, not yaoi. Things like Ouran, The Wallflower, Skip Beat, Boys over Flowers, The One, etc.

And I have no problem with Shoujo manga and anime. I have equal amounts of Shounen manga and anime that I read and watch.

I have no problem watching "girly" anime. According to my definition of girly I have watched

The Meloncholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Lucky Star
Arakawa Under the Bridge

There is just something about those shows that *cough* interest me and my manly self lol.

Now excuse me while I go hunting or lifting weights or something

Would a brofist be out of place in a thread about girly things?
Lol, sure, why not. Though I don't take normal brofists for an answer..

But back on topic, have you tried reading a manga called Demon Diary? It's pretty well done, it's korean made, it's short, and kind of borders on being yaoi and not. If you haven't, try looking it up.

I used to watch the Ouran Host Club show thing. I did enjoy the show for some reason that I could never discover, but I was ashamed to watch it. If my dad ever came into the room I felt the need to change the channel. Hell, if I got a phone call I'd mute the television so the person I'm talking to couldn't hear it.

I really liked Lucky Star when I watched it. I need to watch the rest of it some time.

Just because it's a cast of girls, doesn't mean it's a girly anime.
Those classifications can die in a fire. They're sexist, stereotypical, and useless as there's no polls that measure what percentage of the audience is which sex/age group. At best it's an incredibly subjective, overly simplified guess that completely ignores the fact that most shows are going to try and hit multiple demographics in order to make a lot of money. I've seen Strawberry Panic and ARIA be referred to as shojo, josei, seinen, and shonen on various occasions. When a single show gets thrown into 4 different supposedly mutually exclusive categories you know there's a damn problem.

Same here man. I had to turn the television off during the opening and ending just because I felt super fruity with it playing.

The Cuteness it's burned into my retina...
It's sort of like Lucky Star, if you remove the pronouns from a plot summery it's identical, but the general feel and comedic writing is different...

I watched all of Lucky Star a few years ago.
Yes. ALL OF IT.

First anime I ever watched, and I've only just started watching Fullmetal Alchemist since. I don't know, it was really out of the blue for me. I guess I just got addicted? In my defence it was pretty funny...

Looking back on it though, I kind of begin to despise it...

OMFG how did you make it
i couldnt finsh it i barely made 2 disc's

Wow after a quick youtube session, I can see why you had to turn off the tv for the opening. That is probably the fruitiest op I have ever seen.

I have a problem watching anime in general. Very rarely will I find one like samurai champloo which doesn't make me want to rip my ears or brain out to spare them the damage.

I don't think those terms are mutually exclusive. They merely refers to marketing demographics and the common themes. If a series is made for more than one types of demographics then there's no reason why it can't belong in more than one category.

That being said His and Her circumstances is a pretty good "girly" anime.

A manhwa? No, never read any of those...does sound interesting, though. I'll keep it in mind.

And honestly, my only objection to yaoi is the prevalence of rape and unintentionally absurd plots, so as long as it's neither...
