I love silence, but I can never find it; even if the stupid gas station that I live behind is closed, and my neighbors aren't being loud, there's still the sound of the traffic, of my computer and my fridge and my A/C and of the electricity. Bah.

If I'm with someone then I don't like silence. I just find lack of conversations awkward.

Otherwise, I'm perfectly okay with or without silence.

Silence drives me mad. I had to stay at my granddad's deathly silent house for a week and I nearly went insane while trying to sleep.

Needless to say, I've been sitting here for a day and a bit with my music on full blast.

Bliss.

I only like noise if it's my noise though. ;P

Well it depends on the situation, really.
If im all alone, i might want music, i might not - for example i just heard music, but now seeing this thread made me want to stick my head out the window.
For me it's a mood thing, but usually i like music during the day, and quiet during the evening/nighttime.
I kinda like silence when i'm with someone too, if it's going well - that is.

The problem with 'silence' is that usually you can hear other noises, and some of those noises are annoying. For example, crickets or frogs.

I sleep with a fan, because I like the little noise it makes, but I can't sleep with a TV on, music playing, clocks... watches... Nothing like that.

I like listening to the woods... Almost silent, but not quite.

There is no such thing as absolute silence. The less noise is made, the more receptive you become to the smaller things like the endless amount of bugs. Such as the ones crawling in your walls, on your skin, and all over the place.

On topic: I used to enjoy the silence, then my brain started talking to me.

if talking is Silver then silence is golden! well especially when u have someone who just wont shut up about putting the broadband back on and no matter how much u tell them 45 seconds later they still havent got the message and nothing has sunkern in to the mass of their thick skulls!

anyway back to my slient anguish!

There are quite a few kinds of sound that I prefer over silence (three hurays for music), but I do need some silence every once in a while. So, yes, I'd say I like silence. And there are way more kinds of irritating sounds than sounds that I might actually enjoy.

Hate it. I'm pretty much ALWAYS listening to something, I even fall asleep with my iPod on.

I don't like dead silence, but I like having quiet background noise. The kind of stuff you would hear if you opened a window at night in the suburbs. Trickling water (neighbours have a small fountain in their yard), soft wind, occasional car in the distance, that kind of stuff. It's very relaxing.

I love the quiet, it relaxes me, but what is more great is when im listening to my MP3 because i can listen to music but it is still quiet around me.
