My name is Alan. I rather like. I looked up the origin of my name. It is funny that it means "rock" and that I am a Capricorn who is a rock sign. I am also very stubborn. I guess it fits me very well. It also seems that the Alani tribes were very warlike. That also fits me very well.

Origin:
Gaelic

Meaning:
Rock

Categories:
Scottish, Celtic, English

Used in:
English speaking countries

Additional info:
The name Alan is of Celtic origin and was introduced to the English by the Breton followers of William the Conqueror. The exact meaning of the name is not entirely known although "rock" seems to be the most probable. There are many variations of this name.

As the English form of Alain, Alan is believed to be related to the Latin Alani, "the Alans", from a people leaving on the shore of the Black Sea.

The Alani were first mentioned in Roman literature in the first century and were described later as a warlike people that specialized in horse breeding. They frequently raided the Parthian empire and the Caucasian provinces of the Roman Empire.

Darcy is uncommon enough for me to take a certain measure of pride in it. The fact that it can also be a girl's name doesn't bother me too much.

Yes, Samuel is a nice name, I just hate it when people call me Sammy. It always makes me feel like they are mocking me, I don't know why, I'm just insecure about it.

My birth name is "Roderick Joseph White" ... but all my life I've been called "Roddie" ... my dad has the same name and same "Roddie" handle. Lately at work (bartender, changed my nametag)and on facebook and whatnot I've changed my name to Roderick. I'm 28... Roddie sounds like a kids name to me and I've always liked Roderick... It just never stuck. Family and close friends will probably always call me Roderick , but hopefully soon most people will call me Roderick.

My birth name is John... It's still legally my name, but even on my credit card it says Ray. It's a little something away from the standard. Ironic part is, my grandpa is also named john and goes by another name as well... But i didn't know this when I started going by ray

I like my name. Mikel. I'm a girl and it's not pronounced like "Michael", though everyone tries it that way the first time.

I find mine to be incredibly hilarious. It's Peik, which in some dialects of finnish means troll.

Now I just need to find a bridge to live under.

My name is Jeffrey (pronounced like geophrey) and I fricking love it. In the ancient hebrew language Jeffrey came from the name Jahweh, who is as most people know god.

That's pretty sweet man.

I stare at you with mild annoyance. Actually, I don't really care since I'm getting it changed, but my full name is Max Richardson Whitehead.
Two thirds of which I dislike.
My surname is Gross. I feel your pain, fellow unfortunate-surname.

Cahlee, Unique. It's okay.

At the moment I'm more partial to 'Chi'
You're welcome!

And for everyone asking, my first name is Josh. Technically Joshua, but I hate for people to call me that. So don't.
