Do you Think E.A is the worst company?

With E.A being named the worst company of America, I just wanted to know if the Escapist's Community agrees with this. Honestly, I don't. I don't hate E.A but nor do I like them. They have some of my favorite franchises and games (Dead Space, Mass Effect, Bulletstorm to name a few), but they have done somethings i'm not proud of (Kingdom's of Amalur's Online Pass, Dante's Inferno's marketing, Sim City's launch and DRM) and somethings, like Dead Space 3's Micro-transactions and Mass Effect 3's ending, haven't really gotten me pissed of as the internet has.

EA isn't the worst company in America, they're just the worst major game publisher.

People get really pissy about their entertainment and think that it's something incredibly important when it really isn't. My guess is that this is because public opinion can actually sway the entertainment industry in ways it cannot other industries, so when a game company or movie studio caves to the demands of consumers it makes those people feel more powerful and invested in the product, and also has the reverse effect of making them hate anyone that doesn't bend to their will. There are far worse companies in America than EA. EA definitely is the worst large game publisher though.

Do I think EA is the worst GAME company? Hell yes!
Do I think they are the worst company in America? Hell no!

I think too many people are taking this poll at face value instead of getting at the essence of what it says. This poll is not a referendum on the malfeasance of the economic powers that be in America. What this poll is however is a glimpse at just how disenfranchised a consumer-base feels by one of the video game industry's giants. Other publishers will hopefully take heed of the exorbitant criticism EA is receiving, and adjust their business models accordingly. If this poll says ONE thing, its that the consumer base is not willing to tolerate some of the nonsense companies like EA propagate.

Fuck no. EA is actually a fairly good company. Pretty much every single mistake EA makes is on the PR/Marketing side of things and not the development side which is the only one that is important to me. Everything else that they have done there are other companies out there namely valve that did it first and most often far worse.

Do they desrve it this year? No

You have companies on that list that have been found guilty of criminal actions. There are others that are completely consumer unfriendly and theres actual evidence to back it up. As far as game companies go, yeah theyre pretty awful (though activision and them seem to trade places on which is worse).

Still think Nexon Na should be on that list. They very technically and frequently break Federal Law.

just sayin.

I have to agree with the majority here. I think EA is one the shittiest game companies but not the worst company in America. There are plenty other companies screwing up the public in other ways. I feel like EA was easy bait for this so some other bigger companies could avoid getting the title. Really what would happen should this have been if an oil company or a bank? It would have caused some kind of drama in the economy.

I don't like EA at all, but like others I'm not even convinced they deserve the title of worst game publisher (Ubisoft is my personal least-favourite, though admittedly they're French-owned and therefore probably not eligible for nomination in an American poll), let alone worst company. There are loads of other much more (un)worthy candidates out there.

EA could be considered the worst publisher of traditional games. Even then, I don't know if I would say that for certain, as a lot of other traditional publishers have done some really shitty things in the past few years. And if you expand into mobile and social gaming, there are other companies that are at least as bad as EA in those markets.

And don't even get me started on companies that repeatedly do insane, illegal, and just plain immoral things in the name of profits. And many of these companies do things that affect far, far more than our leisure activities.

I haven't actually looked at the list of nominees for this "award" myself, and I don't plan to, but I'm willing to guess that just about every other company on that list has done far, far worse things than EA would ever do.

EA are not the worst company in America. Given the industry they're in a doubt they even have the potential to be the worst company in America (unless the worst thing that happens to any American for a whole year is they purchase a game they don't like). The only people they have the potential to cause real harm to is their own employees. For the rest of the world we may get a mediocre game whose quality could have been negatively affected due to EA being the publisher.

I don't really care about EA. I guess they could be the worst Triple A game publisher. I quite like a few of their IPs and I haven't been inconvenienced playing them so I'm a bit meh about the whole thing. I still fail to see how ME3's ending was at all EAs fault anyway...

Wouldn't call them the worst company in America...
Probably just the most well known shitty company in the world, I mean there are far worse companies -cough-zynga-cough- but since they don't make big releases and aren't that noticed by the public they get away with it.

Of course not.

The thing I keep wondering is, how many people who voted for them also voted for them last year, and still went and bought Sim City?

No, not at all.

Every single Medical Insurance company is FAR FAR worse than EA.

EA hasn't killed anyone. The Medical Insurance company kills hundreds of people each year by refusing to pay for their treatments.

Anyone who says that EA is the worst company is America is the fucking reason that gamers are called "Entitled". Thinking that always online DRM is worse that outright murder is the very definition of Entitled.

Now, don't get me wrong, I don't LIKE EA. They're assholes. I hate always online DRM. I could see EA being voted worst GAME company in America (although I think there are others that might give them a run for their money).

But worse overall company? Don't kid yourself.

No the companies that profiteer from wars are much worse but since they dont get the same amount of coverage they fly under the radar. TBH i have not been directly burned by EA and it wasnt hard at all to do. All I had to be was a careful consumer to avoid it.

alot likely, I think the saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me" could benefit them greatly.

Here we go again.

One of the worst gaming companies? Well...yeah. The worst company in America, seriously? They have nothing on Monsanto or insurance companies or the likes. I'm not even American and I know that.

+1 to "EA sucks but there are far worse companies out there deserving of this prize and EA only get it because it's an online poll."

Seen somewhere else how people said that EA is worse than BP because when BP poisons oceans it's "an accident".

It's just so fucking shameful.

(Also i think if you'd take away the SimCity Desaster that Activision is actually worse)
