do you think final fantasy VII (7) should be remastered for the play station 3 and 360.

I'm surprised it hasn't been done already! I mean, with Advent Children, the tech demo, and the more prominant game talked about as a remake, Final Fantasy 7 has been begging for this via the fans. The original creators just have to get together, if I remember some interviews correctly. Get together when their scheduals are open to get the creative juices going. :)

I suprised they actually haven't, why wouldn't you produce something that almost everyone would buy a second time. Not only that, but you could charge more for it now.

That aside, as long as the only thing changed was the graphics and added voice acting, I would probably think about buying it.

Also, you'd think that with the huge fan base they would have made a purely Sephiroth game by now. I think that would be a better expansion into this universe than a remake.

If it would put a stop SE from whoring that single game from that franchise, by all means, they should do so. So they can move on to other things. And we could move on to the next big fad to start the cycle all over again.

I don't understand the "let it die" mentality. There's a whole generation of people who probably haven't played the game. Most people don't emulate, and they don't sell the game anymore. Even if you try to buy it, it's too expensive.

Instead of thinking about your needs, having already played the game, give other people a chance to experience it.

IF they were to remake it, I would want it to be on the DS with sprite graphics like FFVI. The 3D models were SO bad it hurt to look at them while they were still "fresh." Time hasn't made them look any better.

You could still have some 3D in it, like the minigames (Sub, Cycle, on-rails shooter at the Golden Saucer) but have the game based off of sprites. You might be able to pull some nice looking background layouts like Star Ocean 2 did, so as not to ruin the mood of some of the dramatic angles the camera offered.

Honestly, if they made a full remake of the game, I would be 10X more likely to pick it up again if it was on the DS instead of a high-graphics, photo-realistic port to the PS3/360.

PsN release is happening, so I think its unlikely.

Then again, Konami did release Silent Hill on the PsN and are making Shattered Memories. Make of that what you will.
Well, Shattered Memories is a different game entirely (different game mechanics), and will be a Wii exclusive (most likely). So yeah, that's probably how Konami can get away with releasing the original Silent Hill on PSN and Shattered Memories.

I enjoyed Final Fantasy 7 and replay it once in a while to this day. However I don't believe a remake should be done. It's a game that had a warm place in history and if you change the graphics, update the movies, etc, it would be like, say, overhauling ChronoTrigger to fit today's graphics. You'd ruin a piece of the game and push it into the crowd of today's other jrpgs with a whiney, emotional boy and a problem with his memories. It would take something away from the game.

However I am not beyond re-releasing the game as it is now. It was a crime when they quickly and poorly made the cds back when it first came out and many didn't work. Don't get me started on the Windows 95 version.

as others have said , if it was remaid without chaingin a single thing about the plot, then hell yeah. i have a bit of a brain fat though so ask yourselves this. when i played the original on the PS1 it wasnt just the game i like it was also the graphics. the last FF game i played was i think FF4 on the SNES maybe? anyhow the PS1 was a huge leap forward in graphics so im not sure that just jumping up the same game to modern graphics would really have the same impact. there isnt as much difference between FF7 on the PS1 and todays graphics as there was the little 2d sprites on the the old SNES. i still think id welcome it though.

i dont have any problem with updating a game, its the whole concept about 'remakes' taht i get nervious about. for some reason the very phrase 'remake' doesnt seem too mean to other people what i does to me. remake for media types seems to mean take the title, and just slap something totaly different under it and call it a 'remake'.

i on the other hand would call a remake something like adding color to gone with the wind. the only change id really request in the new game would be the ability to SHUT OFF the summoning animations. Jesus some of the strongest attacks in the game and you dont want too use them because setting there for 5 minuts a pop watching the same dragon breath frost at the planet for the 35,000th time to do 20 damage is a bit much. i swear the first play through i musta took 90 hrs to do it and atleast 60 of those 90 hrs was watching summoning animations.

While FF's 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 weren't "remastered" per se, they were still re-released for GBA, and I for one am damn thankful. The first Final Fantasy I ever saw was FF8 and it wasn't until 1999 when I was a freaking senior in high school. I went out and got all the ones I could, which ammounted to 1 and Am.2/Jap.4 because someone didn't own a Playstation. I got bad ROMs and struggled through horrible translations. FF2/4 is my favorite because it was the first one I played to completion. But I like all of them. Sure, some are better than others, but each one is special and has its own interesting takes on how to use magic or customize characters.

Does SE need to work on recreating the magic of Final Fantasies of yore? Duh, yes. But is there anything inherently wrong in reliving the glory days on systems that aren't dying? (Oh wait, I forgot about that little problem everyone has with RRoD...) I like the fact that SE has come back to Nintendo for its re-releases and while I would have liked to have gotten the shiny graphics upgrades that the PSP got (for 1 and 2), I can't complain about getting to play games I've always wanted to play but couldn't afford, understand, or find.

So in closing, yes, but for Nintendo. I also wish Nintendo would make nice with Disney and get some of my childhood favorites on their Wii DL list... but that's a topic for another thread. =(

When will they take heed of the part in the name: FinalFantasy?
Oh look, someone else who thinks he's clever with that reference. How little you know. [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_fantasy#Origin]
Wikipedia isn't a credible source of information. Just to show "how little you know".

No, no, no, no, no, no, for the love of god no!

Final Fantasy VII is BEYOND overrated and doesn't need a second life on any new consoles...

FFVII is DONE! It's over! STOP FEEDING US YOUR NOSTALGIA! It's not as great as you think it is anyways!

I'm so sick and tired of the fanboys. It's the fanboys fault that Advent Children sucked so much ass. Don't you fanboys think you have done enough to Square Enix? You aren't in any position to be asking for remakes of anything.

I'd like it if was.
I want to play FFVII, but i simply can't, it seems bad for today's standards. Just can't bring myself to play it.
a new and improved version would change that.

It would be good for people like me who never played the original, or those who prefer the look of say, Advent Children, as opposed to the weird blocky people of the PS One incarnation.

i think it would be great because the original was amazing.

plus if they made a remake, they could add bonus content like extra materia and such.

As much as I hated FF7, I don't see why not.
As long as they remake 6 all will be well.
But if they remake up to 7, they'll be obligated to do 8 and 9 as well, which would be nice.
I hated 8 more than any other, but 9 is my favorite.
I miss the old Final Fantasy style. Screw 13. If you told me that was Star Ocean I probably would have believed it.

Edit: I'd much rather see remakes of some Enix games. Square won't touch any of Enix's other games. A Terranigma remake would be so much better, as Terranigma a better storyline than any Final Fantasy game. Also E.V.O.Search for Eden with HD graphics would be fantastic if they can get away with a game about evolution post Spore.
