Another dev, Instacodez has offered an additional $2m for the European rights.

It's hilarious. In addition to this, playasia has gained something like 5000 followers on twitter...and that's like 40% of how much they had before this.


You can say they're being "childish" but in truth what they're being is defiant and they're based in Hong Kong so they don't care what American whiners really are gonna do. Especially since they're not the actual people who buy this stuff.

Defiant? Sounds more like manipulative to them. And defiant implies opposition. Not reaching for the low hanging fruit and having people throw millions of dollars at you as a result. Not what I'd call defiant. Spoiled more like.

Sounds to me like a company deciding that the US market for the game is too small to make the localization profitable. Then someone makes a BS excuse so the fans are upset at someone else.

It says that the game would come to America only if the demand was big enough. Of course, executives (not producers) are the ones who decide if the game will be released or not.

To quote Zhukov "You realize that people are allowed to take their business wherever they wish for whatever reason they wish, right?" If saying that they're going to stop doing business with them is a threat, then threats aren't really something to worry about. In fact, even if we royally strech what a threat is, this isn't a threat. A threat is "Do X or else I'll do Y" People aren't saying that. They're just saying "I'm doing Y." So is any action that could have any mild consequences for anything else a threat now?

this statement is brought up and it's always bothered me. Team ninja to most casual gamers are pretty much known as the Ninja Gaiden and boob company. there volleyball game is more well-known then the fighting game. Why would they care if people call them out on it at this point?

While I get the whole shitstorm for it but is it a total lost for it to not getting localized? Last time I played (first game) the actually volleyball game itself was bad due to its wokey camera (Gamecube Beachspiker was a better volleyball game than DOAX).

Well the original comment was that they wanted to avoid controversy, which people were okay with (apart from the people assuming they were lying here and elsewhere). It didn't become a spite thing until PA made their comment and got threatened over it.

Personally I think this is all a very clever publicity stunt. I suspect this story will do the rounds on the gaming websites then a petition to bring it over will appear and then THAT will do the rounds on the gaming websites. Then Team Ninja will be like "oh we had NO idea it was so popular, here is our fully priced western release with special editions at way more cost than we would have sold it normally".


But then I'm pretty cynical.
