i feel as if im being talked down to, just because im young doesn't mean that i dont grasp the concept of trade. If I am supposed to be paying him for a service, the service needs to stay the same, otherwise the price should accomodate the change in service. I went from paying 20$ for a year long membership with 3$ per week for the exclusive access to the room. Once we lost exclusive access to the room, which is what we where paying for, why should i pay to rent the space? My membership already covers me just being there, the 3$ per session was purely for the space.
well i spose ill admit i AM kinda 'talking down' too you in an indirect way. but i wasnt actualy talking TOO you at all , my reply was too Therumancer's statment.

ive no doubt you understand the details of the 'contract', but the law in most cases says that because of your age you simply CANT make a contract even if you understand it totaly. its based on the same legal concept taht says that a 16 year old cant 'consent' to having sex with an 18 year old even though shes the biggesat slut in school and has allready had sex with 20 guys her own age.

its not so much that your young and stupid is that its to protect you from adults who are older and more ........ experianced shall we say? i know you might not see a differance but there is one.

let me tell you what would have happened if it was ME in your shoes. im 37 btw. with me the owner, in 95% of the cases, wouldnt even have tryed to change our 'contract' at all in the first place. if he DID change the contract he would have given me reasonable notice and a valid reason for doing it. ESPECIALY if i was a long term customer. chances are i wouldnt even have had to ASK him why the change he would have been right there to explane it in person.

now assuming he DID just decide to change the deal and not want to provide me with a reason why, i would NOT have just left the store because he said he was going to call the police, in fact i would have DEMANDED that he do just that, not because i expected that the cops would do anything other than to take a statment from both of us and then ask me to leave, but because i want that police statment on record for my NEXT step. and my next step would have been to go to my local civil court and file a small claims case against him for breach of contract. and id be VERY supprised if when he got served the papers for this case if he didnt just pay me back the $20 and that would be that.

you on the other hand because of your youth, even if you DO understand the contract (and i think you do) are in a situation where , right or wrong, your not take as seriously by the store owner as he would an adult, and even if the cops showed up you wouldnt be taken as seriously by THEM as they would take an adult in your shoes. im not saying its right its just the way it IS, and thats the very reason that adults dont get too make contracts with kids. far from talking down too you or thinking less of you because of your age, once i found out you were only 16 my whole attitude shifted and now i look at the ADULT in this situation as the 'villian'. adults should know better, adults DO know better. and in another 10 years tops YOU would know better and would have done exactly what i said I would have done in your shoes automaticaly. you just done have the authority to go with your wisdom yet simply BECAUSE of your age. you see that you ahve been wronged because hes got your cash, I see you have been wronged both because hes got your cash AND (perhaps more importiant) the adult took advantage of your youth and inexperiance to get it. because of your age he tryed too do something he just wouldnt dream of trying to do too and adult, and again because of your age its WORKED (so far).

just understanding that you have been screwed and HOW you got screwed doesnt really mean much. the POINT is how are you going to get UNscrewed, and given the fact that one of your actions was to go to a games forum and ask for opinions rather than stand your ground at the time and demand that he call the cops to get his actions on record, tends to show me that your ....... outclassed i guess is the best way to put it. so far hes got your $20 and you have sore fingers from complaning about it on a games forum.

i on the other hand would have been making a post after the fact about how that sorry excuse of a store owner tryed to screw me and i took him to the cleaners. assuming that is that i would even concider the whole incident even worth of repeating once i got my cash back at all.

no im not really talking down too you m8. but like it or not you ARE young, you wont be that way forever and one day in the not too distiant future you will think back on what im telling you and see very clearly what i mean about the whole age vrs youth thing. its something you DO have to experiance to understand. and remember ive BEEN your age, you havent ever been mine. im actualy on your side, but just not for the reasons you may think. i couldnt care less about $20 and if it was another adult bitching about it id be laughing at THEM for 1) bitching about ONLY $20 in the first place and 2) for being so stupid that they got taken advantage of for such a piddly ammount of cash at all. in your case, BECAUSE of your youth you have my 'support'. its one thing to screw a fellow adult, and in a case like your it would actualy be funny, its something quite different for an adult to screw a kid.

rather than take offence that im 'talking down to you', take heart that your youth might actualy work FOR you and get you support to fix a situation that would otherwise be laught at if you were an adult.

one final thing to take notice of here in just this thread as well is this, i seem too be one of the only people replying too you that is actualy offering useful opinions and or options and actualy taking the time to explane to you why im saying what i am. i didnt just give you the 'meh your a moron' answer some did, or try and blow you off with "dewd, its only $20 get over it" reply most of the rest made. you might think im 'taling down to you' but the truth is im not. im talking TOO you, not just laughing at you like most others here are. their laughter is a case in point of what im talking about when i say youth isnt taken seriously. it aint fair but it is human nature. rather than join in and laugh at you ive taken the time to actualy talk with you about this situation, it might be smarter of you too not think im talking down to you and take offence at that, but rather to see that im one of the only people NOT just laughing at you and treating you like your actualy smart enough to understand the real situation your facing.

I don't know why you're making a fuss over 20 dollars but if you're really pissed off then I have two words for you:

Well, thanks for the consideration you took in writing such a large and well thought out responce, and i appreciate the effort. I understand exactly what you're saying, and i know you're right. I wasn't being all too serious about being talked down to, and you're also right about the principle, not the money, however i would like to add that me and Paul have reached an agreement and we intend to talk about it on Friday, we agreed that we both fucked up a little and are willing to scrap it and start again, which means i get DnD again!

No, it's not fair.
More than likely, he wanted to rent the large room, for a higher rate to other people. It was all about $$$$ as I see it, and he'll probably rent the small room as well for the same fee now, to people who have no prior association with your group.

Yes, legally he is allowed to do that if it is his store, and you had no specific contract stating otherwise. (a lease of some sort.)

And as far as an online D&D campaign, I wish I could find one myself.
