Last night was friday night, didn't go to bed till 1am, and so now it's 6:30am Saturday morning and I'm suppose to be at work in twenty minutes. And I know I should be used to it, but it's hard getting used to a schedule when work is eratic about which shifts you work. Sometimes it's 7am, other times it's 9am, or 11am, and sometimes just to really try and mess ya' up, it'll be something like 8:30am. What the hell? Hate retail!

I wish I had a job, so I could say it sucks. Could use the money though.

through brilliant scheduling skills i got off at work at 12:30 am (when i was suppose to get off) then was scheduled to work 9:30 am today. Not abnormal. On Fridays my manager thinks that whoever opened, closes on Saturday and whoever closed on Friday, opens on Saturday. I work at a "family adventure center" so my job is similar to the movie adventureland, except its a laser tag arena so its indoors and kept in half-light.

also because of the events scheduled, i often come in at 2:50, or 12:10. its usually never even numbers...a minor gripe though

Yes. Freelance Japanese->English translation.

I'd actually like the job, normally. Keeping my own schedule, working from home and earning quite a bit. Granted, I'm rather busy, and don't get nearly as much sleep as I would like, but aside from that, it's great.

Well, except the bit where my parents claim everything that I earn, which can be anywhere between 0.4 and 2 million yen a month. (for reference, 1 mil yen=11,918 USD)

So yeah, that bit's not great, I guess. And they think I need to get more work.

I love my job as an English Instructor. The only problem is that I teach at a Community College and most students couldn't care less about my classes. Most of my students just stop showing up for class when things get tough. They choose to fail instead of asking for help.

To put that previous statement into perspective, I had 64 students at the beginning of the semester. Only 20 of those students actually continued to come to class and hand in their work. I had a 69% failure rate in my classes. That is not surprising either, no one in the college will even bat an eye at those numbers.

Nope, not at all. My main job is is being a graphic designer at a local signmaking company. However my work is not limited to design alone, I also deal with a lot of the practical stuff; building frames for huge billboards, providing customers with advice on all the possible ways to present themselves, wrapping cars in huge fullcolour prints, producing said prints.

It's diverse, it takes me places, the money's decent and I get to see stuff I made all over town. Love it!

On the side I also have a small company with two former classmates of mine, providing web design and developement, video editing, special effects and motion graphics. Currently working for a major pornography producer, it's awesome!

I work in a care home. There are a lot of aspects about it that make it somewhat unsavoury. For confidentiality reasons i can't really go in to detail but cleaning up isn't a fun task.

That said, it's very rewarding and you do feel like you're helping.

I've still yet to throw myself away from corporate McDonalds, and they do exactly the same thing to me, mess around with shift placements. My advice it to change your availabilities so they can only put you on between certain times.

I've got mine set so that I have two hours from when I walk out of my classroom to when I'm supposed to start so that I have enough time to get home, have a shower, eat food and relax for a few minutes before I have to head off.

For weekends, I've got it so that I don't have to get up before 9:30 so I can have a sleep in for a change :p

I do have my availability limited to make sure I don't close one night to open the next day, but the problem with limitting availability is then I might not get my hours during the week. Schedules aren't even produced at store level; they come from the home office. And that place has no clue who needs (or should for productivity sake) to work when. They just randomly place people throughout the day.

And yeah, my job sucks. Got to work at 7 just to find out I'm not suppose to be there till 9. Could have sworn it was 7 but I guess I somehow looked at the wrong week. Grr.... Argh!

Sure I am mainly there for their petting zoo parties, but still, there is always 5 hours a week of cleaning out poop, maggots and other fun stuff...

So yes, My current Job sucks...

I loved being the Beat Writer for the Portland Beavers (AAA Minor League Baseball affiliate of the San Diego Padres), but our owner moved because he was a spoiled brat who didn't get a new stadium for a team that averaged 2000 people a game.

Holy shit, how recent is that profile? Cause I go to Clark College... this is creepy.

I'm unemployed which has it's upsides and downsides. On the upside all I have to do is keep the house clean (I live with my mom seeing as I have no money to move out) and do all the cooking.

The downsides are I have my mom nagging me to keep looking for a job, I have no money, and I can't afford to drive anywhere so I take the bus everywhere but I have to walk 35 minutes to get there. And that's just off the top of my head.

I work as a cook at a gas station, and it's a good living. I would still prefer to work as an instuctor in the military. Not just as an NCO, but as an officer. Honestly, maintenance officers have it easy. So I like my current job, but I have my sights on an even better one.

As a head chef my usual shifts were 10 am till 10 pm maybe with a break in between five days a week. Sometimes six or seven days a week - hell when I was having employee issues I was the 'Whole effin' show' as they say in TNA and worked 21 days straight but that's showbiz sweetheart!

That being said I never hated my job. Although I'm now unemployed the reason I quit was because of all the crap from the pencil pushers higher up fucking around my kitchen and pub. I'd always told myself I'd never work at a place unless it was my own for any longer than five years. But in the end I realised if I didn't quit now I'd work for the same arseholes for another year and hate myself and my calling for the rest of my days.

So to answer your question Yeah my job sucked a little. But every job sucks a little. Take it by the balls man and show them who you are. Take a little pride in what you do - yes I know its retail - treat your customers well and have a bit of fun once in awhile and before you know it your jobs all of a sudden alright!

I'm a full-time security officer, and my schedule rarely changes (when it happens hours are added, so I get overtime for it). I mostly just watch cameras, so it's an easy job to boot. Yeah, I'd say it's a pretty good job, since I can study for my uni classes and do homework while I'm there.
