I work at one of my local Gamestops. It isn't that bad of a job. I just ask people if the need any help and walk around the floor. It is just for the holidays though.

Meh, I work in an Apple Mac store and act smug at people for a living, I get to play with all the new toys that come out and get discounts on everything. What's not to like?

Yes, the obvious answer is: "You work in an Apple Mac store", but I like the operating system. Reserve your bias for someone who cares about the whole "which is better" arguments, Windows is perfectly fine for people who like it and I plan on getting a Windows machine eventually, but for what I do with my computer, OSX works for me, if it doesn't work for you then that's great, but it's not my problem.

EDIT: Why do I always feel the urge to preemptively defend my chosen systems every time I post? Ignore the above statement, I'm just so damn tired of the same-old-arguments.

Sore point much? ;)

My father once said that if you enjoy your job you're either deluded or not working hard enough o.o

Frankly I agree ... some jobs sounds wicked on paper, but when you think about them they aren't as desireable.

I mean travelling merchant liaison; lack of sleep, constant jetlag, plane food, hotels, lack of true friends.

Food critic; pissing off a whole lot of people who strived to give you the greatest meal of your life and half the time effectively tossing it back in their faces.

Astronaut; Years of training and study for only the opportunity to be selected.

Pilot (personal, domestic or international): Way too much time spent in airports, increased risk of deep vein thrombosis, chance of sitting next to that one guy you possibly hate the most for 11 hours + on longer flights, having to sound chirpy over a PA system when all you want is a drink and a freaking cigarette.

Professional athlete/coach: years of repetitive training drills, absurdly early hours, constant need for fitness regimes, personal nutriotionists making you live on a tasteless diet, constant yelling and screaming, bearing 11+ sweaty arsed players in a crowded ready room after play, people running your name through the mud if you screw up on a single game.

Currently I work part time as an assistant tree lopper. It's only about 5 hours a day for about 3 or 4 days a week but by the 30 minute mark it feels like you've just been massaged with a belt sander on the bright side of Mercury.

Added to that, the pay sucks horse balls, and the pittance I DID make this week is now paying off alchohol I spilt at a friends house and a rented slushy machine I accidentally broke. I know thats unrelated but seriously, FML.

I work part time as a Taxi Driver and a Chef. I hate driving around drunken idiots on Friday & Saturday nights but it is the best money I get. On the other hand I really enjoy being a Chef but it doesnt pay aswell.

Usher at a movie theater.

Pros: Free movies, easy job (most of the time), free concessions

Cons: Not good hours, minimum wage, gets hectic sometimes (holidays, triple digit movie showings getting out at nearly the same time), most of the time I'm working alone for those hectic times

All in all I like it, though. It rarely gets that bad and I work with some fun people.

Well, I'm a self employed massage therapist.

Love the job, except for the minor down side of not having many clients and therefore not making much money.

I'm a hoover salesman, so yes it does suck, speaking of which have you seen the new Dyson?

Being serious, no my job doesn't suck, we act like a family and while it can get me down when my work mates get all pissy, all in all I enjoy it with the pressure and at the weekend I have friends to call on thanks to customers and colleagues.

I enjoy my work but hate my job. If management would just shut the fuck up and get outta my way I'd do such amazing things for them. As it is, I often do meaningless or even shoddy work just so they can get a completed check mark next to some task on a to-do list. I'm aware of how tacky it is to complain about your job in a poor economy but a) you asked and b) I'm still human and prone to whining.

I'm a student. Graduating next year, already applied for a PGCE (teacher training) and hope to be a high school English/Drama teacher. I have a love/hate relationship with young teenagers so I'm really unsure about how much I'm gonna enjoy it but teachers get paid well (like £19k+) and the hours and holidays are awesome

I used to work in Clarks (shoe shop) in the stock room. Dark, stuffy, lonely, booooring and occasionally hectic. It was awful

Worked 10-15 hour days this week as a chef. Its all good and what I expect. I love my job and pushing through the pain and sleeplessness just feels awesome. Anything less would be to let down my workmates/boss and hell, I'm getting paid too :D

Edit : Makes you appreciate days off more I think.

I work 11 PM to 7 AM 5 shifts a week in a pretty rock-solid Thursday-Monday schedual.

I love it. The pay isn't great, but I still love it.

I'd actually like the job, normally. Keeping my own schedule, working from home and earning quite a bit. Granted, I'm rather busy, and don't get nearly as much sleep as I would like, but aside from that, it's great.

Well, except the bit where my parents claim everything that I earn, which can be anywhere between 0.4 and 2 million yen a month. (for reference, 1 mil yen=11,918 USD)

So yeah, that bit's not great, I guess. And they think I need to get more work.
I understand that it can be difficult, but at least your work sounds interesting.

I don't have a job, but I need one. I'd really enjoy doing something that is intellectually challenging, but I am aware that I will probably have to settle for retail. Then again, I'm terrible at selling things because I'm a little too honest .__.

Retail seems like there'd be a reasonable amount of intellectual challenge in it, actually. After all, I imagine a fair bit of thinking goes into exactly how to sell stuff. Wouldn't know since I've never done it myself, but still.

As for the job, like I said, not bad at all. It's interesting for the most part... well, unless it's instruction manuals for industrial equipment and whatnot, that gets a little dull. My issue is more with working around the clock, getting nothing for it and then being told that I should be trying to get even more work.

The thing that suck about the job is the dumb as fuck customers. Not all of them are, but most don't use their brains. Some are just plain rude and think they're too worthy to give you respect. I've wanted to stick a few peoples heads in the ovens quite a few times.
There's 2 other people who occasionally work in my shop who I absolutely hate, but the rest of my colleagues are lovely. I can help myself to food and sweets whenever I want though, that's quite good.

I thoroughly despise my job but even so I'd rather not be unemployed.

£30 a week just to go to school for about 4 hours a day... BEST JOB FOR A 16 YEAR OLD EVER although the job security is pretty shit at the moment.
