Can you back up your claims? What does Fortresscraft have that Minecraft doesn't? Compare and contrast the two.

I think the modding community alone will make Minecraft better than Fortresscraft.

It's a blatant rip-off, yes. But no, you cannot sue for something like this. No copyright infringement has taken place. That would be like suing Pepsi because it taste identical to Coke.

Otherwise, this looks awful. I know that originally isn't exactly sought after in the game industry, but the developer(s) should be ashamed.

Even with the well-known fear that rip-offs will always follow in the trail of success, I will still support Minecraft.

Would absolutely love for it to come to the PS3 since my PC can't run Minecraft.
How is that possible? Are you connecting to the internet with an abacus? My nephew got it to run on my parents computer, and that things 8 years old. It's 8 years old, and it was never a powerhouse computer.
My computer wasn't built for gaming, it was built for school. 248MB of RAM and a graphics card that doesn't support pixel acceleration.

I can't upgrade because I don't have cash.

I don't have cash because I can't get a job.

I can't get a job because I have to look after my disabled father every day.

See my problem?

Such claims have no real backup. Mojang has big plans for the future of minecraft I'm sure, they ripped it off far too early, and it will never have the following minecraft has.

Try not to feed the trolls strowbridge. It's nobody's fault but theirs that they can't afford $20

So...
Is it just this guy being over-dramatic or is there really a consol vs PC gamers war?
Like really?

For someone who doesn't care, he sure makes a big effort to bring it up every fifth second.

did you enjoy yourself?
Yes! Yes I did. I had a lovely time, thank you for asking.

I mean.. if it was actually FORTRESS craft where you have to build a fortress of sorts to deal with assaults, that'd be epic.
Actually, that's exactly what Projector Games intends FortressCraft to be. You build a fortress to protect yourself, and orcs and goblins start showing up to kill you and take your loots. So you, in turn, have to build workshops and set up rooms to attract minions to craft for you, toil in your mines, and fight your foes. Eventually, you're commanding legions of dwarves and shit against invading armies of demons from atop your battlements while ballistae bolts soar overhead.

It's just that the "fortress building" part of FortressCraft is set up like Minecraft, and since that's all they really have done at the moment the Notch Defense Force is foaming at the mouth and screaming RIPOFF!

He's a video showing a very early test of the mob system. It uses 2D dwarves as placeholders, but it's still pretty neat.

Because Minecraft wasn't just an Infiniminer clone.
Exactly... it took the central idea of other games and re worked them into new and interesting ways, which isn't a bad way to design games... taking concepts that have worked well before and playing with them to improve the game as a whole... but from everything I've heard for Fortresscraft, it just took Minecraft, gave it better graphics and and away they went... and saying that Fortresscraft was inspired by Minecraft implies that they did some actual work of their own which doesn't seem to be the case... it's more akin top stealing someones car and selling it back to them for 1/3 the price with a new paint job...

Did they do anyhing wrong? only from an artistic standpoint...
Should they be sued? of course not that's stupid...<.<

Listening to this guy pisses me off.
"Hey! They made something successful! Let's take the formula and copy it! No, not innovation, make more of the fucking same! Innovation is bad! Just make the same thing over again! PC Elitists suck but not all PC gamers just the Elitists who are all of them!"

I don't give a shit if FortressCraft comes out, but this guy harps about ignorance, fucking hypocrite.

He says he doesn't mind PC gamers, then provokes them at the end. And holding up the Consoles as if they don't have any elitists makes his points even less valid. He talks big shit behind the video camera, and then removes the rating option from his video because he doesn't want to deal with people with differing opinions.

The guy in the video is clearly an idiot. He keeps pointing out the fact that Notch didn't bring Minecraft to consoles, yet neglects the actual reason. Notch was 1 guy working on the game. He didn't get his team together until recently. How could he have been expected to work on the game while simultaneously building it for 2-3 other completely different systems? How would he update it as regularly as he does? The fees and process for uploading the content to XBL or PSN would have bankrupted him in no time, and we wouldn't even have the PC Minecraft.

FortressCraft made a smart move for their wallets by taking Minecraft to a market that Notch couldn't reach yet. It's a great move for business, but a sleazy move on a personal level. They're trying to cash in on his success. If Minecraft ever makes it to consoles, FortressCraft will be forgotten about in a heartbeat.

now, this guy is being very reasonable. people who are getting mad at projector games for releasing a minecraftian game on consoles shouldn't be so pissed.
Psssh. Don't you know anything? Once a game is released, that's it. There can be no other games like it ever.

That's why the shooter market died down so quickly.

Exactly. Something like two thirds of games pre-1983 were merely rewritten ports of games such as Centipede and Asteroids coded by amateurs, and what harm did that cause anything?

clue:it caused all the harm in the world

either way, plagiarism is fun and we should all respect that as an objective fact.

I still don't see the appeal. Then again I'm not into AI minions :p I'm sure SOMEONE will enjoy this game, but I still prefer Minecraft.

And why do you want to not let console gamers enjoy what you enjoy? it makes no sense, it's not like us playing a DIFFERENT GAME is going to ruin Minecraft for you >:|
Actually yes... yes it can... if everyone started buying Fortresscraft instead of Minecraft Notch could potentially run out of funding and the project would remain unfinished... plus even if the money doesn't effect it's development then the popularity could potentially ruin the community by lowering the amount of people playing...<.<

The problem is not that it is going to consoles, or anything else.
The problem is that it is not a step forward or sideways, but blatant plagiarism.
He literally took minecraft, ported it to consoles, and sold it for cheaper.
People are paying particular attention to this game because it is so obvious, and it is stealing the money of one of the most inspirational and hardworking individuals in the industry today, and it makes me sick personally.

Well now there's something that I can actually play. And since I can use a controller with it I'll probably like it a hell of a lot better for me than any version of it that comes out for the PC. Even if I could run it in the first place.

If Dragon Age is not a rip-off of Dungeons and Dragons, if Medal of Honor is not a rip-off of Call of Duty, if Duke Nukem is not a rip-off of Wolfenstein, then FortressCraft is not a rip-off of Minecraft.
This was just lol.

Dragon Age has its own systems and world and characters and enemies that have nothing to do with D&D so is not a rip-off. Medal of Honor came out before Call of Duty so it is not a rip-off. Duke Nukem has different world, characters, weapons and enemies from Wolfenstein so it is not a rip-off. FortressCraft is the same as Minecraft except for a few extra bits in it?

obviously this guy didn't "copy, paste" minecraft and made his own stuff.

Duke Nukem 3d looks strikingly similar to wolfenstein and doom (to the point where you may almost mistake them for each other sometimes) but that's not a rip off to you.

FortressCraft just is strikingly similar to MineCraft. yeah it was a bad move to have a similar name, but obviously this guy worked hard on his game and it will be distinct in its own way
