Interesting. That was really well made.

EDIT: Oh, by the way...

Al1 = al one = alone.

Sweet dreams.

honestly though, i'd have brought a close friend or family member with just to be sure, and even then on top of that i would have checked shit out like crazy before approaching.

You're right, that was really frickin' creepy, real or not. Always love the good emotion-stirring tale right before bed.

...That's pretty cool.

As for the Pardoner's Tale cryptology thing, I think that I'm going to try that with some of my friends. See if any of them figure it out.

No shivers, but that was still very creepy... Just goes to show the internet isn't something that you can rely on.

Didn't get shivers, partly because I found a lot of parts to be very funny in a dark sort of way, but really really good little story.

I was semi-convinced. But you can trace IP's and hosting to find A1's website if you need to solve a real murder.
I don't believe it's real either, but the point you just made is meaningless. Is the only way to create a website to do so from your own home now?

The concept, pretty crazy and out there to be believable.

However, it's more then likely that it is fake. *shrugs* No shivers, but definitely held my attention.

Well I guess I'm getting no sleep tonight. I, I just... fuck man.
Thats what I was thinking ._.
I wonder how long it took for someone to see this story, go "wait a minute..." and connect the dots...

I meant they could find out who purchased the hosting and track him down, or if he carefully hid his tracks, then trace the IP's he used to do so. If he hid those too, then you're looking for a Welshman with amazing topographical and electronic security knowledge, who is also a dangerous sociopath with nine fucking grand... kinda narrows shit down doesn't it?

Wow! That was really good, actually.

I'm not sure how true that all is, but I found it very interesting and the story, whether real or fake, VERY well executed.

Maybe I'm jaded, but this didn't "give me shivers" at all. A simple, fairly obvious bit of murder mystery fiction is entertaining, to be sure, but not frightening. I will give the creator(s) credit where it's due, though.

Fake.

Date is 2006. puzzle was in 2005. Just a story, a good one. But fake.

also it's FORTRESS not Fortress. Additionally those videos were in a good quality. Unlike the youtube of 2005 (240p only).

And yes while the puzzle website does exist it looks like it could have been mocked up fairly quickly. and while it is copyrighted for 2005 that's not to hard for people to put in.

Nice try, and for a minute you had me. But sorry too much cliche

Al1?
Al one
alone
All the yellow and the kid didn't figure that out after 2 weeks? C'mon.
For me it was the over-dramatic acting on the part of both the narrator and the guy calling himself Fortress. Not to mention the fact that, even though the "story/crime" is unsolved, the narrator seems to know an awful lot about it. Pretty amazing when you consider that he repeatedly says that "no one was watching" the events unfold.

Regardless, it's an interesting, if a bit hackneyed piece of story telling. It's not superb, but it's far from bad. God knows it's executed far more professionally than most of the trite you see on the web.

No, it really doesn't. Especially as while you may be easily impressed, none of what was demonstrated was "amazing" to the point of actually limiting anything. And hosting by proxy, especially for a minor low traffic site, is not difficult in the least. Good luck when your tracking dead ends at a free wi-fi hotspot the guy only ever visited for that specific purpose. All you'd really have is "guy with 9 grand", "reasonably smart, maybe", and a few guidelines on his location at various times, such as having to been in wales at the time of the murder, having to have at some point been at that yellow house, etc... Not for certain that he'd even have to be welsh.

All in all, unless the guy was stupid or not anticipating the need to be hidden, there's not much of anything to go on. Hell, even if you want to assume that he had "amazing topographical and electronic security knowledge", unless he's a professor or something in those specific subjects at a near by university, that doesn't narrow down shit either, it would only help if you already at a suspect to compare those traits to.

Why is this scary exactly? It's a story about greed. Money does weird things to people, especially those seeking to get rich quick. Also, who would be dumb enough to actually think something like this would be legit? Btw, that was a rhetorical question because nearly half of the people on the internet would be dumb enough to do it.
