What they should have said on Fox's twitter is "For just once, fellow conservative viewers and politicians alike, can we just treat homosexuals like fellow human beings?"

Then watch how Fox will try to retract/deny that statement once they regain control.

Couldn't they have hacked someone we were likely to believe?
Yes but Fox was the target, not their weak minded followers. I'm sure the latter was just a nice bonus.

I don't use Twitter, nor do I pay attention to Fox News, therefore, I never even knew this happened until now.

I saw this before this morning and had a pretty good feeling it was fake news. Other wise I'm pretty sure it would have been on pretty much every tv channel today, radio channel and so on.

I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Fox News had done this themselves and blamed it on hackers as part of their agenda

I always get a kick out of that picture. It was taken in a real town called Metropolis in southern Illinois. I live JUST across the river and can make it to that statue in about 15 minutes in good traffic.

That's literally all I've got to add to this.

The only thing less funny than all of these hackers are all of the "faux news" jokes.

Ah, I love the smell of pretentiousness in the morning.
Indeed. I dare anyone to find any news source that doesn't misdirect, misrepresent, or obfuscate details to tailor an agenda. Its not that one news orgs poop doesn't stink compared to the others.... its all still a bunch of folks slinging poo.

That would have been goddamn amazing to watch.

Honestly, though, it's well-deserved. It's not like they have a track record of being the most accurate news source out there . . . according to anyone who isn't payed by said news source.

PBS News. It's about as non-stinkified as it gets. It's pretty boring, though, because it doesn't have freak shows like Tweety and ORLY screaming at you all day.

I didn't even know about this and I live in the States.
Granted, I didn't turn on the tv/radio today.

And using either site as a source for your big school paper is dumber that admitting you used Wiki.

Not entirely sure that this was the work of hackers...

I can see this just being wishful thinking on the part of whoever runs Fox's Twitter account. :p

First off, I love that picture of Barrack.
Second that's pretty hillarous.
Its ironic too, because that's probably one of the more true stories they've reported this year.

EDIT:
Why is Fox demanding an investagation? Seriously, people get hacked ALL THE TIME. You're not specail Fox. Why don't you get a more secure password.

News of the presidents death getting out through a tweet 40 min. after the fact? It would go far faster then that.

Any kinda Tweet reporting would only be possible for at the very most 5 min. and more likely less then that.

For this thing to have been anywhere near believable the tweets would have to have looked sorta like this.

"shoots fired at presidential event at [somewhere]. No sign of president." This would be the first tweet. It would probably have some spelling and texting errors as well.

"Something that appears to be blood on the podium. First family being evacuated. no sign of president" This would be the second Tweet and would probably be tweeted less then 30 seconds after the first. Again lots of errors.

"Scramble behind podium. Man receiving first aid. Could be president." A third tweet at the 45 second mark.

4th tweet will focus on the scene. "People in panic. Most fleeing. Some hiding in cover. No further shits heard." Followed instantly by "Secrets Service clearly searching for shooter"

At roughly 1 min. 20 seconds "The president has been shot. Injuries unknown."

Personally I think this might have instigated a few minutes of panic in a few people. The key would be timing and speed. News move fast these days and while the first news of the presidents death might come over twitter it would be preceded by lots and lots and lots of reports on events prior to that.

For a prank (I am calling it that for lack of a better word) like this to work you need to do some work on all the parts of the prank. Not just the preparation work (like hacking the account) but the prank itself.

Just read the Fox News comments section on this particular story. Some are actually calling for his death, with one saying that even though he isn't dead, he's still black. Stay classy, Fox.

Twitter, who gives a shit.

A stupidly confusing, condensed "communication" service where you mumble and bumble one-liners in rapid succession, and people expect to be taken seriously when using it ? Reap what you sow. That goes for Facebook too.

These are not professional communications platforms.

Much as I don't care for Obama or Fox News's fluff, there is nothing entertaining about this. Chalk one more hacker or group of hackers I look forward to seeing in handcuffs.

Even if it is on Fox News.

Yes becuse a major news site getting hacked is not important and does not raise questions of new validity and security no the news story is all about how Fox News is a evil and trying to control the world with its evil stupidity. Thank you you bunch of sheep now go to the corner, put on your tin hats, and pretend like you know everything over in the corner the grown up are busy.

Compromising news sites and feeds seem far more dangerous and deceptive then most attacks. A coordinates strike on major news sources could be disastrous in its power to manipulate the public.
