Honestly, unless the Switch is your only system (which, if it is, fair dues, we're not all rich), there is no point. You can get a better version of it for cheaper on pretty much every other available platform. Only hardcore fanbois see a game that has been out for months or years and then brag about being charged extra for a less technically impressive version just because you can walk around with it in your bag. And I say that as someone who is not especially obsessed with specs.
You buy Nintendo for the first party titles. You buy a decent laptop/tablet/PC/whatever other system for the rest. Durr.
I might have to buy this for VR though, but only if they include smooth aiming with a regular controller, which is doesn't look likely to occur

Well I mean, Doom came out a year and a half ago, but point taken. Still, I very much doubt that people are clamouring to buy the Switch just so they can can play a graphically downgraded Doom outside in the shining sun or whatever. They also warn you fairly well to leave some space between you and the TV so you're not smashing all your shit up like an idiot. I can't comment on the value of portability myself. I'm in that weird camp of folks who find the idea of taking multi-hundred dollar pieces of delicate electronic equipment into the hazards of the outside world a tad strange. So unless I got a switch at a thrift shop for 10 dollars like my DS, thats probably out. (I also don't play many games that do well in short bursts either.)Chewster said:
Like I said before, it's not only portability, like in I'm going outside to play doom. The switch make gaming in short burst possible, more than the pic or other consoles. I know I'm not the only one in this situation, I hear a lot of people in my situation. I'm 38. I'm in the few first generation of gamers. We are now parents, we have jobs, house to take care of, social life. We are still gamers, we still have a passion for gaming, but lot of us just don't have time anymore. Yeah I wish I could play 5 hours in a row, but let face it, it often not possible anymore. I only have control of the tv late in the evening, and my pv is in the basement, so going there to play cut me from my family. But with the switch, I can play more often. Let take today., I play on my lunch break at the job, then when I go home I put it in the dock to play on the tv while my kids are playing with their friend outside for maybe half an hour or so before I make diner. Then in the evening I was making cookies with my kids, and they where watching tv while each batch was in the stove. So that 3 fifteen minutes that I played doom in portable mode. Then I had maybe an hour to play docked again when i put the kids to bed. Each time i take the switch, my game is exactly where I left it.Chewster said:

It's nice to see that it is getting more third party games for people who use the Switch as their primary system, but for a lot of others, it may not be enough. If portability is something that you need, then this is ideal but, at least speaking for myself, it's not a deal maker or breaker and never really was and I think that's probably the same for a lot of gamers.
