That's still a double post...

And to reply to the OP, I have no idea why people double post (who really cares about post counts anyway?), but I have to say The Escapist is one of the most "forum ettiquite aware" forums I've seen in a long time!

It hurts because if I say something, I'll be playing into your trap, but if I don't, I'll be betraying the very values I started this thread on. ARGH... Well played, dimunitive non-threatening young feline, well played. And yes, it still counts as double posting if you did it to make a point.
To make you feel worse I have seen someone quadruple posting
I know. I'm pretty sure I saw someone do it here even.

It's the most ettiquete aware because people are actually paid to overlook it, and the folks who post here work very hard to keep it that way. And yeah, some folks do care about post count. And those people are normally the ones that don't have many posts.

Hmm... I'll avoid double posting in the future but this site moves so slow it just doesn't matter to me. I don't get aggravated by it and I don't see any reason for anyone else to do it, especially if both posts are to different people.
And I'm not going to bother editing a post if the other person posted around the same time I did, and that person was not the original person I was quoting.
Sorry guys, it's not that huge of an issue, unlike, say, grammar.

you know, I don't know how to make posts with multiple quotes in it... so instead I just say fuck it and don't post at all...
1 - Click quote in the first post you want to quote
2 - Quote gets aggregated to the reply box on the bottom
3 - Click another post you want to quote
3.1 - Quote is -ALSO- added to the reply box.
4 - Repeat above ad nauseam.
5 - ???????
6 - Profit

Congratulations you have mastered the magic of the Multi-Quote.

WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE DOUBLE POSTING?
The Edit button is one mysterious creature that eludes many. It's evasive skill only seems comparable to that of the search button!

I will admit that it took me a bit to figure out that the "Search Forums" button was seperate from the regular "Search" textbox on the top of the page.

Yeah I did that once. The Internet was laggy okay... I edited it, honest... I... I'm so sorry. You have no idea what it's like living with this guilt. Everyday, when I get up, I'm reminded by that quadruple post and I just want it to end. For the horrible guilt trip to be over. I'm sorry, oh god I am so sorry... but it's not my fault. The Internet was laggy... there was something wrong with the Escapist... it's not my fault... those poor children...

*reaches for gun*

I am so sorry... *bang*

Yeah, but seriously I have no problem with double posting. Shit happens, just roll with it. There isn't anything wrong with making double posts to talk with multiple people either. It's easier for all concerned if you do things that way.

It isn't easier for anyone if you double post. It makes your arguments less coherent and it is a bother to read through, especially if you have little to say in reply to others.

I still remember the horror I felt at seeing someone triple post (on another forum, mind you) to say nothing but "roflmao :)" to three different people. Nothing else. I almost tracked him down and eviscerated him.

Just be glad you didn't see Zeke109's post spaming on his "the quote game" thread. You would have probably either had a heart attack, or become totally homicidal.

You know, I keep hearing about a couple of the infamous posters/ posting sprees, but I can never seem to find them.

That's because the mods always clean up the mess.

Awwwwww... I wanted to see it. It's kind of like one of those instances where someone says "EWWW That's nasty" and you look just to see what it is, knowing it will horrify you.

Alright, this has always been a problem on every forum, but seriously, WHAT IS UP WITH ALL THE DOUBLE POSTING? I normally don't think this would merit a seperate thread, but this has started to become an epidemic. Even some of the Escapist Forums' stars have started doing it. Folks, there's an edit button you can use if you want to change or add something.
I admit I have done it a couple of times but that was before I figured out how to quote someone after I had finished a post and wanted to edit it but even then I might deliberately wait until someone else had posted in the thread so as not to be annoying.
See, now waiting for another post is, in my opinion, better ettiquete than posting a bunch right next to each other. It gives people a chance to respond to your first post before you flood them with all your others.

Anyways, why do you folks hate double posting? I mean, what is your main reason?

And so, it came to pass that the troll, Ronaldo_macdonaldo was vanquished.

Thank you, wilsonscrazybed for perma-banning this troll.

On topic: I never double post. And if I ever do, it will likely be an accident.
You double posted on purpose on page one. Just putting that out there. And looking back on what I was saying prior to the Ronaldo scourge, I feel like I might have jinxed the thread by saying I wanted to see one of the infamous posters.

Oopsies. That was smallharmlesskitten. My bad. I suppose I shouldn't cast blame without double checking, but I'm running on fumes in terms of sleep here. I just can't pull myself away from the three threads I've been posting on recently.

I don't blame you, that's been happening to me for three nights in a row.

Well, on the topic of double-posting, I never double post if there's not a quote to throw in there- I just edit my old post.

I didn't really get the whole copy-paste thing until recently (well, I did, but I was afraid), so if I forgot to quote someone, I'd usually double-post..

Not anymore, though.
