*shrug*

Unless it is astonishingly good and does not continue to be a barely-concealed knock-off of Lord of the Rings, I probably won't be buying this. DA:O irritated me too much with its cliche setting and storyline, even if some of the twists involved were actually quite interesting.

The little teaser sheet they included with the boxed version of Awakening was pretty obvious, it even had a date on it. That being said though I am extremely excited about Dragon Age 2, loved the first one.

Dragon Age 2 was pretty much confirmed when the first game sold like hotcakes...

Is anyone else not surprised that they're making another one?
Not a bit, they sorta hinted at it in the ending. Oh and if you bought Awakening it said it would be coming out next February.

I'm just... sorry were you expecting a better reaction, dude I would have been shocked if there WASN'T a second Dragon Age.

Still I praise the series for taking the combat system FFXII made and tightening it up.
You mean the combat system from Baldur's Gate. Dragon Age *is* after all supposed to be the spiritual successor to Bioware's old Baldur's Gate franchise.

As for the news, not at all surprising. Good news, but not unexpected. DA was being planned as a franchise from the start, and that the game was successful only cemented those plans.

I was always under the impression that even androids could dream. Even if only of electric sheep.

I'd be shocked if there wasn't a Dragon Age 2. Still, good to know it's officially announced and all. I'm replaying Dragon Age as we speak. Love the toolset.

Can has Mass Effect 3 release date now?

Bioware - please, please, PLEASE record the lines for the main character.

Dragon Age 2?!? BioWare, I love you. I really do. I REALLY do. I'm on my 3rd playthrough of DA:O, and I just can't stop for the life of me. I had the same issue with the KotOR games, too. Not to mention The Old Republic, which will take up a good chunk of my life, as well. BioWare, you are my disease.

I know your pain *nods sagely*
Even though we are pretty certain this is DA 2 Still can't help wishing they would say ''Fooled you, we have a release date for ME3 and all you 'faithful', Shepards are going to be soooooo rewarded....''
Jade Empire 2 would be epic too, ah well..... As long as it is better than BioWare's brilliant ''community event'', I'll be happy ¬_¬

It's not really much like Baldur's Gate though, it's all realtime and cooldown based, not pseudo-realtime but actually based on six second turns. Dragon Age really is like FFXII (which itself was KOTOR with more AI levers), except actually worse, because your characters have such limited tactical capacity that anything beyond the most basic predefined strategy is impossible.

As this is Dragon Age 2, they need to increment which Final Fantasy they are copying and have the other party members feel (in combat at least) like intelligent beings which have a reasonable understanding of the world they are in and how their abilities work.

This just in... a company attempting to capitalise on a recent success create a sequel! More at 11.
this post in particular. It all seems a bit stupid to be honest, considering it's just one sequel, yet people buy the sequels that are churned out time and time again without complaint.

Personally, I'm looking forward to this. DA1 was a bit generic, yes, but generic does not mean bad.

Of course they are releasing DA2.. also they probably should announce another $100 of DLC for it released within days of it hitting the shelves.

Because a week after initial release, after experiencing the game and reading others experiences, it seemed pretty obvious that there was either going to be copious amounts of DLC or a sequel.

This ain't rocket science. If a product does well they make more.
Okay, I'll admit, I gathered that much, but still, everyone seems to just be bashing this. Why? Because it's from EA?
Whoop-de-fucking-doo. So long as it's a good day, who cares. Plus, the day 1 DLC plan means that you can see if you enjoy the general flow of DLC, so I don't get why people are bitching about that.

"Even a dead god can dream."

Name the game, and for bonus points, name the mythology it is referencing. :)

OT: I am very much looking forward to this. DA:O didn't have quite the resonance ME does for me, but I loved it all the same. Tidy up the graphics though, please? :)

Pretty much the same as me, except for the KotOR part. I hate that game, such a waste of money. It bored me almost as much as Mass Effect 1.

Meh. Didn't even get a quarter of the way into DA:O with 20 hours on it.
Seems unlikely I'd buy the second one.

Not a fan of the lengthier RPG's then I take it? To each their own; this is great news to me.

Though I am a little curious about the whole "New champion, new locales thing"
