I luv every Bioware game I've played so far, although that said, I was hoping for some more fleshed out DLC for Origins (I've yet to play Awakening so take the DLC comment with a pinch of salt)

Would be quite good if this game took a little break for the usual Bioware plot of saving the world/universe from an ancient evil and instead you became a champion by being awesome n kinda self serving in your missions.

It's a pretty nice study of how the vocal minority always will whine, no matter what you do. The whole point fo that article was to show the idiocy of haters on the internet.
"The internet is really only good for a handful of things, and one of them is drowning out level-headed discussion with emotionally driven leaps of logic. " - from the first paragraph.

While I agree that condemning the game now is stupid in the extreme, I take issue with this: "You mean to tell me that the origins mechanic in Origins was specific to Origins? This is not what my imagination tells me I was promised!".
People enjoyed the Origins system, there will be no origin system, hence they are unhappy. There's nothing stupid and wanting aspects you like to remain, also turn based combat and dragons were in Origins does that mean expecting them in this game will be unreasonable? No it means you expect them to keep what works and is popular.

People not liking what they hear so far is ok, judging the game on what you've heard so far is stupid, you might as well start a boycott. You know the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover", well this is mostly people judging a book by what a firend told them is going to be on the cover.
The problem is not with people voicing their concerns about how the game will look in its final shape, it's more the problem with people looking for any excuse to justs tart their crying, moaning and kicking blindly in their anger. Most of that hate outbreak seems to even lack basic reading with comprehension skills, trying to re-shape the few short sentences from early pre-previews in their own imaginations into something that never was mentioned by developer/publisher.

Personally, i'm waiting for some actual info on the game and how it will play.

It's painfully obvious that that's satirical; I'm hoping for your sake that you've noticed.

You know what? I'm glad the franchise will be turned into Dragon Effect. I'm glad Hawke will be Shepardised. Why? Because having half-arsed origins stories in the first game made the protagonist feel extremely hollow. Shallow. Nothing was of him or her. I felt absolutely no reason for fighting the dark spawn or the arch demon (sorry, dragon). My character had no quarrel with them. I just didn't understand why i suddenly had to follow this douchebag who carted me off to some god forsaken battlefield to join his little order and fight these monsters. I just didn't care. And i know you're meant to write your own experience into it but i don't want to have a blank slate. I want someone with personality, with a background that i can adjust now and then with how *I* would respond to a situation. That doesn't mean i want a mute emotionless robot walking around doing stuff just because they tell him or her to. Shepard was a great character. he had personality. He was human, figuratively speaking. But he also made the choices i wanted him to make and said the things i wanted him to say. He was Shepard, but he was Shepard as i would portray him. That's the difference.

It's a BioWare game. What you expect is the writing to be excellent, not the other stuff. Which is still normally good.

What's wrong with these people!?

After reading up on Dragon Age 2, that the reaction was as negative as the article states, seems hard to believe. The only thing that seemed lame to me was, not being able to choose more races. Truthfully though out of the ten or so starts I've had with Origins, I always come back to human, it just fits better in my mind. And since Bioware has narrowed it down to just male or female human, that means we'll get a fully voiced main character, instead of the kinda silent one in Origins(excluding all the text you choose of course).

Lastly we hardly know anything about the game, if anyone is going to ***** about it, shouldn't they wait till more info is available? As in at least till some gameplay footage is shown?

I'm honestly ignoring everything Dragon Age 2 related.

First of all, I have faith in Bioware since they haven't failed me yet. I loved pretty much every game of theirs I got (which is almost all of them), so if there was ever a developer who deserves the benefit of the doubt, it's them.

Second, there isn't much to go on for now. There has been some preliminary info released, as well as some early screenshots. The info is vague to the extreme, and the screenshots are missing a fuckton of effects (like shadows and such), look like crap and are not representative of the final product.

Finally, as the Something Awful article points out, the Internet loves hating stuff. DA2 offers them a lot to pick on, so I'm not going to engage in pointless arguments over the previous two paragraphs with people who've made up their mind to hate the game as soon as they saw the words "Bioware", "Dragon", "Age" and "2".

Look, here's the thing. We can all agree that both Mass Effect and Dragon Age where epic games, it's just that some liked ME more, while others DA:O more and we can all assume that they are trying to make the greatest game ever by mixing the two games. There's just the problem where they are trying to please everyone and they might fail.

For an example I loved Mass Effect, I think it was a great game, but I just couldn't play it more then once, because it doesn't offer much in terms of RPG, Mass Effect 2 for an example really feels more like a shooter rather then an RPG game.

But that's not the case with Dragon Age: Origins. The game is perfect for any die hard RPG fan like myself, who used to think that Baldur's Gate 2, Icewind Dale 2, Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 where the most epic RPG games of all time. Then of couse we where proven wrong, since Dragon Age: Origins is probably the best of them all, simply because it followed the old RPG formula and did it better then ever. But now when they are removing the " old RPG formula", Dragon Age 2 doesn't sound to promising for me.

I don't know I still want to remain skeptic about Dragon Age 2, but I guess when something is not broken, then don't try to fix it!

Well said. You could tell the difference beacuse some origin stories took a good half hour and some were well 10 mins.

You're right, the internet loves to hate. It's made up of the most impatient, ignorant people in the world, and somehow they always make it to the front page.

Everyone needs to wait until the game is released before they judge it. That's what I'm going to do anyways, since there are more important things to do than complain about my RPG having the same story as every other RPG in history.

It's a Bioware RPG. So it won't be DA:O. However much they change it, the end result will be that it'll be really good but formulaic. If you haven't made up your mind yet on whether or not you like Bioware games, then you need to learn some goddamn decisiveness.

Heh, the article sure caught the sentiment of the internet spot on. Then it slapped it around a bit. Good stuff.
