I wonder why it took so long for someone to ask this question. It is pretty much unquestioned in the gaming world that a longer a game is, the better (no don't laugh at that sicko).

Honestly yes. I still cringe when I think of memory leak induced 5 minute long load screens.
What were you playing it on? My load screens were at 20 seconds, tops, on the 360, with some as short as 1-5 seconds.

[...] And when I found myself slashing a bandit leader to death with little regard for my health because he just killed one of my friends, in this case Alistair, then you know the chaps at Bioware are doing their job right.
I know the game's been out a while but please use spoilers. I like Alistair and didn't want to know about this. [spoilar] [/spoilar] correct spelling will give the spoiler box like this

Calm down, space cowboy. That's not a story point. It's him dying in a regular encounter.

Sheesh.
Oh, I see. My apologies.

I'm a pretty big hater of spoilers in general, but in regards to dragon age I'm a bit over the top. I refuse to discuss anything dragon age related with my room mate as he keeps saying things like

"Has the assassin tried to kill you yet?" or "You know how the blood mage in redcliff can help you with the possissed kid?"

I'll stop reading a book halfway through if someone tells me about a plot twist.

Nope. Its impossible for something to be too big. Things can be bad BECAUSE they're too big, e.g. the story begins to drag, the characters get stale, etc. but in DA:O they don't. You only have to play as long as you want, and even though modern games have conditioned us to expect about 25 hours from a standard RPG, that doesn't mean they can't be bigger and better. If you find it getting repetitive, don't do the side missions. There is nothing wrong with size, and in DA:O there is nothing wrong which stems from size either.

If the memory leak thing didn't tip you off it was a laptop.

Honestly I want to smack half the gaming industry around for pushing graphics as important so much.

Hell no.

Morrowind/Oblivion, now those where games with too much to do. Dragon Age doesn't hold anything compared to the amount of things you can do in them.
To counerpoint this, in Oblivion and Fallout 3, you dont *have* to do as much as you are required to do in Dragon Age (Although Morrowind is arguable). If you don't sidetrack yourself in Oblivion and Fallout 3, you can complete the main questlines of both within 12 hours, Where in Dragon Age, the main questline is difficult to complete in under 40.

Morrowind was completely great, in that it offered MORE to do on the side than Oblivion, and still had a main questline that was about as long as Dragon Age.

So, in a way, between Oblivion and Dragon Age, you could argue that either game is "longer" and "bigger," it simply comes down to a different point of view on the way you want your game to be presented.

No problem. I completely understand. I was the same way while my wife was doing her play through, I didn't want to be around or talk about it until we had both done it.

been playing dragon age again doing all the extra quests and side missions and it's been 9 hours and i've only done 9%!! so i ask you all, is it too big? the main quest alone took me 5 days with 12 hour a day play...
Not sure if anyone answered that, but this 9% statistic actually includes all the possible choices you can make during the game, which are impossible to do with just 1 or 2 replays. So really, you'd finish the game and you'd be at 30-40% completed maybe.
