So, now that it's out, what does everyone think?

I havem't been able to spend much time with it yet owing to having to get some rest before work this evening, but I quite like what I've seen so far. Pretty decent character creation and the action in the tutorial was nicely done. Great story/character hook to open the actual game too.

I've got a long stretch of days off coming up and I'm really looking forward to being able to put some quality time in with this one.

I like it despite the average graphics. Combat with four people can get kind of cluster funky so I don't think I'm going to hire any other pawns unless absolutely necessary.

Also the rock song at the Mai title screen is AWFUL.

character creation is cool but the world is starting to feel small and repetitive, there's no fast travel system and the same monster spawn in the same areas over and over again, you'll soon learn where bandits, giants, etc. are as you learn the map more and more, night travel is still terrifying and the grabbing onto monsters quickly losses its appeal after latching on seems to be the only required strategy :(

I've only been playing for 20 hours, got it yesterday in the mail, but so far the game is great but I can see myself putting it down pretty soon in favor of Diablo 3 and Tera :/

...I thought it was coming out on the 28th?
Oh well. I'll keep and eye on this thread, it may decide whether or not I buy it after exams.

I wouldn't call it awful, but it was a heck of a surprise when it started. I was actually really liking the intro section of the tune and then all of a sudden.. j-rock in the face.

Super excited about it.
I've played the demo probably 6 times now.
It's the best thing Capcom has done in......lord a long time.

And I'm getting my ass handed to me pretty hard with just one pawn.

I'm loving it so far, i feel like i'm awkwardly walking into the wrong areas every time, but annoyed there isn't a fast travel system. Only level 22ish for now, but plenty of fun.
Edit: release date for NA was may 22nd.

Witcher 2 hands down.

Not only is it the better of all those games, it's also made by a development team who aren't utter assholes.

I literally got it from the mail delivery about 5 minutes ago and decided to install it onto my xbox 360 (like I do with most games nowadays) and I was absolutely shocked and appalled at the fact that there is already DLC for this game on the market. Capcom wasn't kidding when they said that their DLC policy for Dragon's Dogma would be shit. There's currently a PART 1 (FUCKING ONE) quest bundle available for 80 ms points and some kind of hair and item thing for 160 MS points.

Now the price themselves at least seem somewhat reasonable, but the very idea of paying for what appears to be additional quests and additional customization options on DAY ONE just seems a bit absurd.

Just thought I'd throw that out there to let people know it exists.

P.S I'm not at my most level-headed at the moment because I'm sort of raging at the very existence of the DLC so feel free to have different opinions about the DLC in question since.

P.P.S Captcha: now look here

The Rift really needs a 'Refresh' button. Tired of exiting then going back in to look through a new group of pawns.

You should be able to send away the pawns and then new ones will take their place.

I played the demo and didn't care much for it. I was probably going to rent it, but then I saw that Capcom published it and since I'm still pissed for their awesome work with UMVC and SxT, my boycott with them still stands. That is my opinion on Dragon's Dogma.

Looks interesting, I'll purchase it when it is like $19.99. That's the advantage to being behind in the game world, when I eventually get around to play the games I want, they are super cheap, I never buy games when they release anymore. I still haven't played Deus Ex: Human Revolution for example.

Hah. "For any and every situation, there is a relevant XKCD comic."

OT: I'll be buying Dragon's Dogma when I go out later this week to pick up my pair of glasses. Looks like it's right up my alley, really. Party-based action RPG in a fairly (presumably) large, open world? Yes, please! I'll admit that "standard" fantasy is a bit tired at this point, but hell, just based on the previews it's got more interesting enemy fights than most of the RPGs these days, excluding boss fights in The Witcher 2 and the Souls series.

I'll be getting ionce it's out on friday.

All the trailers looked really dull, but the controls and how helpful the pawns are really sold me from the demo.
