Ok sir, please retract that statement or you and I will have to have words. Many words.Gorilla Gunk said:Also the rock song at the Mai title screen is AWFUL.
Yeah thats kinda why I didn't buy the game and got new vegas ultimate instead. I dont mind buying dlc for a game but everything their sell on dogma is on the disc, ya gotta pay to access it, its too trollish on capcoms part and they do it all the time now so I said fck them this time around. I'll wait till gamefly sends it and spend money on something else.AwkwardTurtle said:I literally got it from the mail delivery about 5 minutes ago and decided to install it onto my xbox 360 (like I do with most games nowadays) and I was absolutely shocked and appalled at the fact that there is already DLC for this game on the market. Capcom wasn't kidding when they said that their DLC policy for Dragon's Dogma would be shit. There's currently a PART 1 (FUCKING ONE) quest bundle available for 80 ms points and some kind of hair and item thing for 160 MS points.
Now the price themselves at least seem somewhat reasonable, but the very idea of paying for what appears to be additional quests and additional customization options on DAY ONE just seems a bit absurd.
Just thought I'd throw that out there to let people know it exists.
P.S I'm not at my most level-headed at the moment because I'm sort of raging at the very existence of the DLC so feel free to have different opinions about the DLC in question since.
P.P.S Captcha: now look here
These are basically my thoughts almost down to the letter. So far, so good.Gorilla Gunk said:Things I like:
-the general feel of the game.
-awesome character creation.
-how big the world feels.
-combat/magic system.
-how the game turns into survival horror when the sun goes down.
-the Dark Souls level of difficulty.
-micromanaging, something I actually like.
Things I don't like:
-graphics are a bit iffy.
-lots of popin, lowish frame rate (looks like its stuck in the mid to lower 20s on PS3)
-pawns never shut up. Fine with just my one but when I have a grop it can get sort of annoying.
-how rigid the classes are. Even the mixed classes are pretty strict in what you can and cannot do. I started out as a Mage and was going to become a magic archer but that class doesn't seem to enable support spells and neither does the other mixed magic class. And you can't set your knives or staff as a secondary so you have to pause and switch back and forth in the middle of battle. I may just stick with Mage for now.
-having to press a button to continue conversations.
-how the difficulty sometimes forces you to have a full party.
-that awful main title screen song. Who thought that was a good idea?
Things I'm undecided about:
-no fast travel. Annoying but reminds me of Morrowind.
-my pawns Mohawk.
-
The only graphical thing that really bothers me besides the pop-in is the weird shimmering of the shadows under trees. It's an effect I see a lot in games that have dynamic shadows. We really need to find a better way to shadows in games.Zio_IV said:These are basically my thoughts almost down to the letter. So far, so good.Gorilla Gunk said:Things I like:

Also, don't worry about your pawn's hairstyle; you can get the option to change it at will later on. You can do it as much as you want and it hardly costs anything.
The graphics being sub-par doesn't really bother me with this game, probably because while everything isn't looking quite up to snuff, all of your character animations are very fluid and nice looking.
This is just the impression I got from the manual, but it sounds like this sort of stuff is actually the responsibility of the Pawn's creator. The more they use the pawn and get it stronger, the more helpful it will be to other players who rent it out. Hence why you can rate other players Pawns.Griffon_Hawke179 said:You can reconfigure your character but IDK about the pawn. Interaction with other players pawns in terms of leveling up or equiping them is nonexistent afaik. You can't even make them use healing items so they tend to keep at half health unless you pay to rest and the mage never wants to completely heal for some reason...? or perhaps I'm just missing something. You'll spend as much time in menus as any RPG but they don't seem that terribly difficult to figure out.
The Griffon flew with me on it and I brought it down in multiple playthroughs. Actually, twice my pawn flung me up to the griffon where I grabbed it mid-air and brought it down. (This maneuver was attempted 3 times before I figured out how to use it) I dont think the demo gives enough information about the world to say it is generic considering you never go to a town in the demo. You go through a dungeon and fight in a meadow. That just isn't enough of the world to claim one way or the other. This is why I am curious about NPCs and quests.majora13 said:I really didn't like the demo. The combat was confusing, my "pawns" were always in the way, controls seem unresponsive, the enemies were damage sponges, and I didn't get what they were going for with the grabbing mechanic. Grabbing worked in Shadow of The Colossus because you were climbing mountain-sized creatures, but what's the point here? I was pumped about holding onto that griffin and battling him 200 feet in the air, but WTF, he wouldn't even fly while I was on him. Why set up something so awesome if you aren't going to go through with it, Capcom?
The world also came off as beyond generic. Like, Oblivion level generic.
I'm still somewhat interested though. A good review might persuade me yet.
Damn you Daystar!Daystar Clarion said:Okay, I've had a few hours with it and I say that this game is pretty damn awesome.
Combat feels satisfying, the world feels alive and I love the customisation options.
Being able to equip armour and clothing at the same time is friggin' awesome.
Fighting the big monsters is better than in Skyrim. You can climb on them and chop limbs off. I'd suggest checking out the demo if you haven't already.Anthraxus said:Sounds more like Skyrim than Dragon Age.
Open world...action style gameplay...weak/barley existing 'story' elements...
Is the combat better than Skyrim's ?
