If anything, these type of DRM shenanigans probably convert people into pirates just out of necessity for their sanity. It also goes to show how DRM + DLC = Disaster waiting to happen. You have NO tangible content other than what you downloaded, you rely upon company servers to maintain your ability to play it, and again, you rely upon the company to make sure they don't just discontinue older DLC.
The paranoia has to end to stop the insanity behind such asinine attempts that resolve nothing. Hell, maybe if the companies weren't pouring buckets into researching how to stop pirates (and failing within hours), they might put more effort into what counts: The Games! Hey! Perhaps less people would pirate if they knew that the game would be worth more than the time to just pirate it instead!
Or at least offer a drop in price...

Yeah I noticed I a couple of days ago couldn't play any of the Dragon Age DLC. So I just did a quick google search, and the first link showed how to get it working fine again. Still an annoying inconvenience tho. =/

I have never once bought 'DLC' and never will. This is why. I refuse to support any sort of business ethic where developers and publishers not only nickle & dime their customers but then have the gall to treat those customers who're loyal enough to buy these things like criminals with draconian DRM.
Which is a pity. I really want to find out what happens with Liara and the Shadow Brokers. But likely I never will and this is why.

Not just Zehir but the entire collection of NWN2 was simply amazing... only single player game with enough customizable stuff and different ways to play to keep me playing it for more than 3 months on end.

this is precisely why i always buy the game in the store, and THEN use freely available hacks and cracks to make sure shit like this does not happen to me.
even after all this time, i'm still playing Assassins Creed, Splinter Cell: Conviction, and Dragon Age: Origins without ever having to worry about their servers shutting down, or random security-check errors that would otherwise render my game inoperable until the problem is fixed.
it is kinda sad that videogame companies are trying to rely so much on DRM to solve their pirating problems, when the DRM CAUSES people to pirate in the first place due to the pirates having none of the problems that paying customers do.
i will never pirate, but i won't keep their draconian DRM on my system, especially when i spent the money to play the game, not to have the game play me.

On a similar note this is why I never bought games on steam. If the serger is down you can't play any of the games you own.
I remember some time ago when CD/DVDs were young and easylly ruinable I was always using a No-cd crack. Learned it the hard way when I lost both Might and Magic 6 and 7 playdisks to scraches.
As strange as it seems this is very similar buy the game use cracked versions to avoid DRM.
