Good. There were multiple studies that proved that early leak of the games actually increase sales. Actually some music studios were caught leaking their own albums in the last "to get them more popular". while gaming industries that manage to sit on a game for 20 years cry about their game leaking there are people who actually use it as advantage (for example adobe said that piracy makes people used to their products, and later they buy them because thats the only product they know how to work with).

Yes, PC gaming is dying because of piracy and this proves it.

That was sarcasm.
Huh, so I guess this means Piracy isn't the reason behind the abysmally low sales for PC games. Then what is causing such abysmally low sales for PC games? I guess if it isn't piracy, something that can theoretically be fought, they have no reason to even try for the PC.

Piracy isn't an example of how PC gaming is dying, incredibly low sales are. Piracy is just a way of explaining it - if you wanna say thats not the real reason, fine. So the incredibly low PC sales are now inexplicable but very, very real.
You should probably read this. The gist of it, sales figures for PC games were generally measured based on retail sales when almost half of them occur online on digital services.
Even if you accounted for that, PC sales they wouldn't scratch console levels in most cases.

Take Black Ops, best selling game of last year. On 360, 12.52 Million copies. On Ps3, 10.08 Million copies. On PC, 1.12 Million copies. Even if you doubled that figure, rounding out that 48% to 50%, it wouldn't equal one quarter of the less successful console version of Black Ops.
You do know Activision makes more money off their PC games don't you?

OT: I do have to laugh everytime I see something like this on the site then a couple of months down the line when this is forgotten about by most people you will get forum users claiming there is almost nil piracy on consoles.

90% of the comments are: "OMFG only 2 weapons? This sucks!"
I think this is a pretty damn valid point. I might be biased because I was always a more serious sam player than duke nukem.

But if the new serious sam had a gun limitation on it I would pass. This is coming from a guy who still plays serious sam 2 at least 3 times a month for the past infinity years.

Duke Nukem Forever leak could be more damaging because of the limited release of the demo, which kept it out of many gamers' hands, and the less-than-entirely-enthusiastic response among those who have been able to play it.
Dunno about anyone else, but I've been less-than-entirely-enthusiastic since I had the chance to play the demo.
Same here... I just played it tonight and was extremely underwhelmed. I'm now in no rush to play the full game :/

Well, I never played the demo, but luckily my local rental store always gets new stuff about 2-3 days ahead of schedule. The game's installing on my PS3 right now, and I'm kinda psyched I'll get to experience a piece of video game history, for better or worse.
It's nice to be able to play things early without pirating them.

Anyway, these early full leaks do have quite some damage potential. Was it this bad in the months and years before? Because I only started noticing this stuff around the time of the Crysis 2 fiasco.

I see how it's gonna still be the PC's fault at the end of the day - cause you need a PC to do the cracking/hacking/pirating in the first place . . .

:sigh:

Although, this is quite expected - sadly it's not the first AAA title to be "leaked" before release, and it defi won't be the last.

It's also worth pointing out, I think, that while the 360 and PS3 versions of the game are running free, the PC version apparently is not. Maybe someone needs to explain to me one more time how publishers are shying away from the PC because of all the rampant piracy problems it suffers from.
EXACTLY!

I seriously want to go punch the people at Epic for not making Gears of War 2/3 on PC because of pirating, and then a week after they said that about GoW2, it was leaked and being pirated on 360 a month or so before release. But no, they still won't consider making them for PC.

But anyway, I've quit pirating, and I don't really have time for playing it right now. College full time, plus two jobs for another week... :/

Well my opinion based on the demo is that the game is shit, it could be a somewhat decent game on its own but as a duke game it really is shit, so can't see why anyone would want to priate it.
Hype maybe?

No no, we are all filthy pirates on this platform, and I demand we be treated as such!

OT: I don't think they have to worry, I'd be surprised if anyone whose had a crack at the demo would even play it for free.

to which i point out, in Duke 3, you are unlikely to use more then 2 weapons per level at any time, to conserve ammo. you get weapons when and where you need them, like you did in 3. if DNF is true to the third game, it will be fucking hard also.
I'm not talking just about the weapons, the game seems like a bastard child of a modern and classic shooter, (not unlike Borderlands Bulletstorm - I always mix those two up) giving mundane and repetitive gameplay. I'm unsure if this will be the case with DNF, though.

It also seems to be a blatant HL2 ripoff at parts.
