I do so hate it when people blame bad sales on piracy, especially for the PC. I mean, I'm no stranger to torrenting, and I DO regularly pirate games, but I also then buy them if they're entertaining, even then I still buy games without pirating them first, such as Crysis (the original) and actually a good deal of my games. And then with that, I own a LOT of games, in disc format, let alone what I own via Steam, but for the 360? Nothing, I will honestly say I've pirated everything I own on that console and didn't think twice about it.
But as it is, I even pirated Amnesia back in the day, but I found it so damn good (even though I could only get about 10 minutes in before scurrying off) I bought it almost immediately after. Then games like Crysis 2 come out, and I will admit I pirated it, had it on my HDD, but I didn't even play it, hell, I didn't even install it, then I deleted the .iso and that was that, I haven't played it and I do not plan on it, yet EA will still scream "PIRATES RUIN GAEMS" despite the fact, as far as I'm concerned anyway, it was just a bad game and I didn't even want to play it for free. I've seen a Lets Play of it, and I played the demo when it was released, and I was disappointed to see their focus was on the multiplayer (as that was all I COULD play) instead of continuing on where Crysis left off with the SP campaign.
I've easily put over 60 hours into that games SP just playing it over and over and over, finding new ways to do the missions. But EA will still say it was piracy and that will be that. Unfortunately the same will apply to Duke. I'm not saying it wont get pirated, as I know not all pirates are like I am, but the point is, I was looking forward to it, but not even releasing the demo on the PC? Come on. Then they remove all the features that made it what it was! Sure they were 'dated' by today's standards, but it was fun and today's standards aren't anything special as they once were, so they completely ignored the core demographic (the people who played the originals), and have limited their chances of gaining a new demographic by making it a generally mediocre shooter. But I can bet, quite safely, that they will blame piracy before admitting they made a poor game.
Sorry that this is insanely long, but I had to vent, and I hope some of you will read this and that some will even agree with me. But in all honesty, I hope the people that preordered it and plan on buying it get their money's worth, 14 years worth to be precise.
