This sounds great! I enjoyed the first one but heard a lot about the second that made me hesitant and now I'm glad I waited. I don't mind that it sounds more actiony, and in fact it still sounds like it's got a decent amount of RPG elements. That concerned me back when Molyneaux mentioned it, but it just sounds like it's been more disguised (in the manner of followers and spell charging and such). Some streamlining is good, but if it had been a full on action game I would have been rather disappointed. With luck, all those nice co-op bits will be there too.

I was excited about this game, having never played the series.
I tried fable 1.
Now I'm about as uninterested as possible.

Don't get me wrong, I liked Fable 2 (I must be mad as a hatter) and feel it needed improvement, especially the final, firey, climatic showdown with Lucien. I mean, it was just such a letdown.

But judging by what they said about what they chnaged, it helps.

I don't get the premise behind the plot?

So your brother is king, and he's a dick. Fine I get that but why go and amass a rebellion against him? Why not just sneak into his bedroom when he's asleep and stab him in the face?

No more evil king, take his place and do what you want.
I have a feeling a certain woman might say to said king "Your brother plans to overthrow you" and the king believes said certain woman and tries to kill you (And you only get a mere flesh wound; which a certain woman fixes up for you)

...So, you declare revenge and take over his kingdom with aid from a certain woman.

Fable 1 was great, one of the best RPGs of it's time in my opinion, but the second kind of lost a lot of what made it great. I did enjoy it still, but it was unsatisfying by the end.

The lack of a magic world kind of killed the 'Dark Fairytale' vibe the first one had, the choices you made didn't feel involving and didn't have much impact on the story (if any), the characters paled in comparison to those in Fable 1, and the game lacked climatic moments and battles. Well, with the exception of that bit just before the end, and the inside of the Spire. But still, it wasn't enough.

I maintain that Fable 2 was just a transitional title though, more just there to make the shift a little easier and cover Fable 3s backstory. At least, that's my impression.

Fable 3 sounds to have fixed many of my concerns...and some I didn't think needed changing but eh. Quite interested to see how this Aurora place (or w/e it's called) fits in...if my guesses are correct, might see a spark of magic back in the world.

Oh.

Right

Then at the end of it all does the king kill your dog just to prove how bad ass and evil he is? Because we all know your not a true douche bag till you kill some ones dog.

I never really found the Fable 2 combat style switching to be all that bad. All it took was the touch of a different button to make the character switch styles. With a sword, pistol and fire spell set up I could easily switch between each seamlessly.

Am I the only one who didn't think it was a bad combat system?

Still looks good though, I just hope they don't try making it into a gritty and realistic action game. They seem like they're taking it very seriously, and part of the fun of Fable is that it's so incredibly light hearted in appearance even with such dark story telling.
I also thought the combat system was good.

It was quick and easy to use, so easy practically anyone could get the hang of it fairly quickly.

Ah well. This news isn't from Peter Moleneux, so I guess I'll take it. But everyone, be warned, when Peter starts talking don't listen. He's only going to spoil the experience with his sweet, sweet words.

Must... not....Get-INTERESTED! I must retain my logical opinion!
This is so obviously not going to work, and yet whenever I hear about a lionhead game I get drawn in. Speaking of which where did the Black and White franchise go? :(

If Fable 3's storyline/writing improves over Fable 2, I will 'forgive the franchise', and be quite happy.

If Fable 3's storyline/writing improves over Fable1, I'll be ecstatic.

...

If Fable 3 sucks, I'm getting a divorce

This looks like it might be decent enough. Now, I want Fable 4 to take place during the first World War. I mean, they can't go too much farther in time w/out hitting that period. You know, you'd probably have to pick a side in the war (good/bad) and there'd be trench fighting...with magic. If done the right way, that'd be sick. This looks good though, don't get me wrong.

I liked some of the new stuff Fable 2 brought to the game, but it did feel unfinished and outdated. Im looking forward to this one though.

Just one thing though, try to picture this:

You and your BEST friend over xbox live.
You play co-op
Just for a laugh you decide to shag
Screen goes blank
"Sooooo" "Wow this is awkward"

Peter Molyneux "this will change the way you perceive gaming, you'll really connect with the menu system, its the most intuitive menu we've ever built"
Anonymous Lionhead rep "no no, actually its shit"

I'll be honest, this looks really interesting, especially the way you level up by gaining supporters.

But small problem, I have a PS3, damn it.
That kind of candidness from the people making the game, I like.

"Our last game? Shit. We're not going to dick around this time."

Kind of gets you amped.
I know its what you do when your about to release a game, you don't sit people down and tell them you've actually been dicking about, you hype up your game.

Its just Moulynex takes it to a whole other level, he gushes about stuff his team can never put into a game. My favourite one was about ten years ago, he said he was trying to implement real emotions in a game, like if the main character cried "you'd see your own reflection in their tears".

One of the Edge journalists actually laughed.
Peter can cast spells with words, I actually like the guy, he hypes because he's so hyped about it himself, of course it's bad for him, but he just can't stop! lol, I'm almost looking forward to just hearing him talk about F3.

I'm another person who hasn't had any problems with the speed of the controls... that came out of left field for me. How much faster do you need things to be?! Is Fable 3 gonna read your mind so the meer thought of using a weapon automatically uses it?
