Even if it only has better graphics than it's Forerunner the Microsoft will still be Flooded with orders.

Just as question I assume this will mean no dual wielding or no new weapons. I thought when I heard about dual engines we would have the option to use the new stuff.

It's Xbox-exclusive? But... but...

That makes me so sad...

You know, I'm excited for this and all, but I have to say, I may prefer the original look anyway. Sure, the graphics are objectively crap, but they have this certain . . . quality about them that makes them timeless.

Is it just me, or does this seem like the most incredibly pointless remake ever? The only reason this could possibly be relevant is if it mixed things up a little, gave you extra locations to play in, fleshed out the story a bit more, added more gameplay really. As it stands, apparently it's exactly the same. And as Susan pointed out, the graphics for the first game aren't even that bad right now anyway, so damned if I'm even going to consider buying this just for HD. And is it worth buying for multiplayer? Pfft. Hardly. You can't seriously claim that people have already gotten sick of playing Reach multiplyer. Besides, they've got even more multiplayer coming out once Halo 4 is released. All that, and I bet it's going be priced exactly the same as a AAA title.

Chrissake, why is everybody so escited about this game? I honestly don't get it. Ten years is worth celebtrating, I guess. But can this really be called celebrating? This is just rubbish.
All this and it's not even Bungie making it.

That is the coolest thing ever!

Halo original with online multilayer. I have been weighting 9 years for this.
I haven't, I played online on my PC copy of Halo. "Combat Evolved" was more or less replaced by "Lagging Evolved" it was bad.

Why remake the game completely? I mean, keeping all the the same AI, levels and glitches while only changing the graphics seems more like cashing in than celebrating the anniversary. (I'll revoke this if the price is about $20-30 AUD)

Besides, 10 years after, if someone wanted it, they would have it.

Is Halo really that sacred that they won't change anything? Let the fans whine their little rotor-blades off, if something was broken in the first one then they might as well fix it, if only to justify a HD re-make of a game that had good enough graphics to begin with.

Online Co-Op only adds more awesome to this game. A definite buy for me, to the glee of my friend.

so...it really is nothing but a graphical overhaul.

i have shit in my fridge older than halo:CE. in fact, i have halo:CE (not in my fridge though).

if i want to play to play the exact same game i already have....just, why?! are graphics so important to you people that you need to revamp a game every 10 years to be able to play it again? i will NEVER get over how they can release a remake of a game barely 1-generation old; this is just utter insanity, its the same exact game but with gratuitous bloom and people are going to buy it....

someone explain this to me :(

From what I understand, from the trailer, the multiplayer section will be part of Halo Reach's multiplayer suite as I saw both armour abilities and assassinations on the multiplayer shots. Hence, these seven maps are basically seven re-made maps for Halo Reach. They'll most likely put the re-made Halo CE campaign on one disc and bundle it with a separate multiplayer disc that contains both these re-made maps and all the previous Halo Reach multiplayer content, just like they did for Halo ODST.

They haven't made this explicit thus far but this is how I imagine things will turn out. And frankly, I'm quite happy to play these re-made maps in Halo Reach's multiplayer when it is a superior multiplayer experience to the original. This also means Microsoft isn't shooting themselves in the foot by putting out another completely separate online competitive halo multiplayer mode that would be vying with Reach's.

$40 dollars for a dolled-up version of a game I own the superior port of with 7 maps remade for Reach (a some new ones) plus achievements? No thanks. I'll just buy an HD collection for my PS3.

If armour abilities are in this, I'm going to be uber-pissed. Online shouldn't have them either.
In fact, that will probably stop me from buying the game...
I entirely agree, I'm only going to get this if the multiplayer gets its shit together and if armour abilities get left out. Reach's multiplayer is a pile of vomit and the maps have no soul to them.

Besides if I wanted the single player experience, I modded the PC campaign a year or so ago: upped the textures and some of the models to make it feel like Halo 3, even threw in some Halo 3 weapons. Not sure if the 'compatible with Reach's online' buisness is rumor or not but if thats the way it is, im gonna bet the multiplayer will be an Armour Ability extravaganza.

...one firefight map? Does this mean there's going to be a dedicated firefight mode, or is it just gonna be some cheesy post-campaign level?

I actually think I'll stick to Reach..It's still my favourite instalment because I have no nostalgic attachment to the series Because my first console was A PS1, then PS2, then the 360.
