Can't say I'm particularly excited.
The new aesthetics are horribly busy and cluttered and very likely won't have the cohesive feel of the old game, which still looks gorgeous today. And while CEA comes with a graphics swap button, some sources have said that the audio can't swap, and I am most definitely not liking the bland remade audio so far compared to the old. I also keep a CRT with old-style bottom-mounted speakers laying around for old games with audio balanced for that sort of thing, and Halo 1 sounds insanely awesome on that thing. Much more awesome than the "remastered" audio has sounded from what I've seen so far, anyway.
And the game doesn't have any online multiplayer. "Online multiplayer" meaning "the thing I've waited for 10 years for, console Halo 1 MP with netcode that doesn't suck." Yeah, a Reach map pack is cool and all, but simply putting in the same maps isn't remotely similar to the same thing; to put it bluntly, Hemorrhage is nothing at all like Blood Gulch. Halo 1 has easily my favorite MP out of the Halo series, which is saying a lot, and to this day it's the only one that I've never been able to play on console in its natural form with noncrappy netcode.
Actually, as far as we know, it quite possibly may lack local Halo 1 MP as well.
The only thing this remake offers me, Halo 1-wise, is online coop. Which I guess is cool, though I don't make much use of it in Halo's 3 and Reach, so I dunno.
