...one firefight map? Does this mean there's going to be a dedicated firefight mode, or is it just gonna be some cheesy post-campaign level?

I actually think I'll stick to Reach..It's still my favourite instalment because I have no nostalgic attachment to the series Because my first console was A PS1, then PS2, then the 360.

A remake of Halo? So if Bungie, or 343 Studios or whoever, can remake the greatest FPS of all time then Square Enix can surely remake FF7...... right?

Eh for the 40$ price that comes with it I'm down. My old Halo disc is all scratched up from love and abuse so I'll definitely enjoy seeing this come back.

I don't know if that was intentional, but you wrote Sidewinder twice. Either that was a mistake or you really want Sidewinder back, heh. I agree as well, the 7 multiplayer maps does seem a bit underwhelming.

I will probably pick this up. I've lost my Halo: CE disc a long time ago, and would love to play through the original campaign once again, even with the graphic overhaul. How cool is it going to be to play through The Maw in HD?

Damn, I'm excited for this.

Can't say I'm particularly excited.

The new aesthetics are horribly busy and cluttered and very likely won't have the cohesive feel of the old game, which still looks gorgeous today. And while CEA comes with a graphics swap button, some sources have said that the audio can't swap, and I am most definitely not liking the bland remade audio so far compared to the old. I also keep a CRT with old-style bottom-mounted speakers laying around for old games with audio balanced for that sort of thing, and Halo 1 sounds insanely awesome on that thing. Much more awesome than the "remastered" audio has sounded from what I've seen so far, anyway.

And the game doesn't have any online multiplayer. "Online multiplayer" meaning "the thing I've waited for 10 years for, console Halo 1 MP with netcode that doesn't suck." Yeah, a Reach map pack is cool and all, but simply putting in the same maps isn't remotely similar to the same thing; to put it bluntly, Hemorrhage is nothing at all like Blood Gulch. Halo 1 has easily my favorite MP out of the Halo series, which is saying a lot, and to this day it's the only one that I've never been able to play on console in its natural form with noncrappy netcode.
Actually, as far as we know, it quite possibly may lack local Halo 1 MP as well.

The only thing this remake offers me, Halo 1-wise, is online coop. Which I guess is cool, though I don't make much use of it in Halo's 3 and Reach, so I dunno.

sounds nice, but i rather have halo 3 for the pc. its really unfair they never made a pc version of it. just 1 and 2 and thats it. the franchise just ends for the pc gamers with part 2 when it supposed to be a trilogy.

Personally, I think remakes should be of the other end of the scale.

Good games already made their mark and received its high praise, and living up to the original's stature, while attempting to be innovative with a classic iteration without alienating fans, is a challenge, so there's a reasonable margin for messing up. However, 343 isn't retelling or reshaping anything, it's just cosmetic.

I played Halo 1 on pc at least 12 times over (and it that doesn't say I enjoyed it, I don't know what will), and if the remake is slated for a PC release as well, I'll be playing that too (just put the cross-hair where it should be, please!) but I'd much rather like to see a bad game improved, like Quake 4 for example.

Better storyline; better atmosphere; more engaging boss fights; better enemy AI/designs/variations; less linear gameplay; less straight, empty corridors with no strategic gameplay other than to shoot for the head; less arbitrarily tacked on events; and a far better use of the engine they had access to...

Sure the studio would have a lot more work on their hands, but I think a bad game has more facets to improve on, and makes for a better investment than buying something that's THE SAME GAME with a cosmetic revamp and Halo Reach gameplay. Then they could simply make a free visual mod, akin to CinematicMod for Half-Life 2.

Can someone explain to me how keeping the same AI and physics from Halo 1 is a good idea?

I am definitely looking forward to this. A few months ago I decided to just replay a bunch of old games, which included a run through of the Halo games (co-op!). I specifically remember having discussions with my friends about a Halo 1 port and/or remake...with Achievements!

I never did get to have big LAN parties with Halo 1's multiplayer, so outside of Blood Gulch (and maybe Battle Creek) I'm not too bothered by it not including all the original game's maps (figures Microsoft would want to release them as DLC). I just hope the game's priced around $40 if they don't include more maps or something.

It's gonna be like ODST, new campaign with some maps for the previous game (this case Reach)

Why does no one see this?
