E3: Microsoft Announces Halo 4 (and 5, and 6)

I'd still like to see some more spin off games (More ODST, more Halo Wars, maybe something where you play exclusively as the Covenant) but hell I don't care, I love Halo and no doubt I'll buy into this trilogy and the Anniversary Edition.

Here's hoping that 343 can show off some skill, and some good storytelling.

Now, a wave of hate!

I like the idea of a game played entirely as an Elite or something, as I really enjoyed The Arbiter's missions in Halo 2.

I second this.I am also VERY curious what we will be fighting since the Covenant seems to be out. The Flood maybe? I hope not.

OT: I thought that with Bungie gone they would finally be done with this. People were saying that it would have been good if they did because the series was perhaps dragging on a little. But, alas, they had to go and start off a new trilogy.

Oh well, i try not to condemn anything before it's finished.

My own feelings regarding the Halo franchise aside, I'm curious if this will be a 360 exclusive. Namely, if they are going to put it out on the PC. Microsoft has spent the past year or two puffing its chest, saying they want in on the PC market, but haven't really shown any commitment to those statements. However, giving their flagship franchise a simultaneous multiplatform release, or even putting out a PC version with a slight delay (moth or two) would go a long way to prove they mean business.

However, since all the MS talk about wanting to be a major player on the PC scene is just a bunch of crap to try and get someone to use GFWL, I doubt Halo 4 will be gracing any PCs any time soon, at least until we get a 360 emulator...

The only real thing that concerns me is who will be doing this project. Giving IPs to another dev is a practice that normally doesn't end well.

343 is more of a Microsoft owned splinter group of Bungie than a new Developer. A lot of people from Bungie are on the 343 team including Frank O'Connor so I'm sure that this will be a smooth transition.


OT: I am a long time fan of the halo series but I told myself I wouldn't go all fanboy about any Halo game after Reach.

ok for one, i gotta ask i dont even know what games 343 made so i dont even know will the next one be good.The reason why everyone is complaining because the story is over(no covenant and flood).Its gonna be hard to continue when the threats that you face are dead.So where they going to start the story on?A part of me hates this and a part of me wonders.I am not going to lie I always expect the 4th halo game was master chief fighting his way back to earth.I must do some background check on 343 to see if their games are good.

I dont think 343 have made games themselves per say, but the team is made up with mainly ex bungie workers so they have made the past Halo games.

I hope this game reveals an entirely new set of bad guys. The Covenant War is effectively over, let's see some new group of invading mooks to put down.

If he had a jetpack, he wouldn't have ended up where he did. He'd have managed to escape too.

They did finish the fight. The Human-Covenant war is over John 117 and Cortana's story isn't. Frankly I want to know wtf they were floating to at the end of the credits.

Ok, good thing I looked at the trailer before posting...

Initially, I groaned. Honestly. Just leave it be!, I thought to myself!

But no, I had to watch the trailer and be reminded of how cool it is to play a Halo game as Master Chief all over again...
If nothing else, the trailer excited my interest.
I wonder if it'll work as a franchise sans Bungie?

More importantly, Will someone finally remember that Halo structures have teleportation capabilities? They never bring it up. Cortana uses it once, then forgets about it completely. There was no really good reason they just didn't use it!

If you listen, she does it it requires a large amount of power, she says she can get it from the suit, but they should only use it once.

After seeing what E3 had to show and reading what my friends had to say about the coming line-up of games, I had this to say,

"With Battlefield 3, COD Modern warfare 3, Mass effect 3, Gears of War 3, Far Cry 3, Resistance 3 along with a host of other sequels, prequels and spin-offs being all that's heading our way.

It is in fact safe to say the gaming industry has run the fuck out of good ideas."

It's clearly dead horse flogging season. Not that I'm saying sequels are bad, but please, can I have something new and interesting?

Did you know that Halo: Legends the numerous animes conjoined into one video... Had over 10 directors with 6 different stories, because they couldn't find one director to pull off an interesting Halo story.

All the best anime directors out there... Animation directors of Apple Seed.. Cowboybebop... FLCL... and few othrs attempted demonstrations to Microsoft... Microsoft couldn't figure out which director to use so they put all the demonstrations in one little video and called it a halo legend... HALO ISSS WACK.
