I like how it's "EA's game" now. That kinda sucks. Bioware needs a mega-publisher to be able to sell their mega-games... but I guess "be careful what you wish for" applies here.

At this point, I'm more excited about The Witcher 2 than I am Dragon Age 2, and I absolutely loved Dragon Age. Everything about EA rubs me the wrong way.

Woo! Let's cut content from the game and release it separately!
DLC's are a cancer. That's what I've always said.

What gives BioWare? I mean I am going to buy the game no matter what, so why do you have these kind of shit? What if I cant pre order?
You can still buy the extra content for 7 bucks. Seems like the only problem is that they're announcing it before release and including it as a pre-order incentive. Sure, they could wait a few months after release and THEN release the DLC, but they'd just be delaying the inevitable.

So, you guys are worried that the standalone game won't be feature-rich enough without that DLC?
Here's a simple solution: Don't buy.

If you don't think you're getting your money's worth, why waste your money? Your hand isn't really being forced, here.
Exactly. The game is likely to be complete without this. The only reason people care is because now we KNOW about it, which amps up our natural gamer sense of entitlement and makes us start demanding things for free. It's like people go from "oh cool, DA2. I should buy it" to "EXTRA DLC!? WTF EA? DA2 IS SHIT NOW."

A priest that becomes a Rogue/Assassin. A male Liliana?

Seriously though, why do they have to attach DLC like this to something that most players won't get anyway? Oh that's right, to try and get most players to buy it. I really hate it when it feels like I'm missing out on content just because I'm too cheap to pre-order a collector's edition or whatever. Couldn't they make it free with the pre-order then just sell it normally to other players after it launches? I've never had much of a problem with DLC, I accept that it's here to stay, but stuff like this just bugs me.

Only pre-order? Wow, that's pretty harsh. Guess I have to make some cash fast.

If I read right, they're just doing a deal where you get a free upgrade to the special edition if you pre-order the regular one before the 11th. I didn't gather whether the special edition will still be sold at launch, but it did say that the DLC can still be purchased separately for $7.

i can see the original point in the OP. but an even better point is its only 5 bucks to lay down a pre order. even the poorest man in America can scrounge up 5 bucks in a week

Well would it be better if they released another mysanthropic non-living (I guess shale kind of iffy on that count) character? I think that would be far worse to just keep giving us that. Look at Zaeed, he was a jerk and all but he was a pretty interesting jerk.
Yes. Considering how most of Bioware's humans completely suck compared to the non humans, I would much rather have more HKs. Compare HK to Atton (haven't played KotoR 1 yet, I'm sure it's not much of a stretch that Carth is boring and annoying), Legion to Miranda, and Morrigan to Shale. I liked Zaeed as well, but he was one dimensional. Plus he was the Shark drill instructor driving teacher from Spongebob, so that's just gravy XD
Basically Kaidan Alenko = Carth Onasi. Literally, very similar characters same voice actor. Both total D-Bags but they have their uses. That said get KotOR 1 it's great.

Is it just me or did I hear a bit of an... Irish? accent in there.

.... DANG IT BIOWARE! Stop getting your real-world accents in my fantasy game! Leliana was French, Zevran was Spanish (I think), and now we have Celtic. I think "France" before I think of stuff associated with France, and it breaks the immersion.

Anyway, pre-ordered already, was hoping for another cinematic trailer (yeah, right. But they're SO AWESOME)

Very not pleased about this. I don't have the money to go pre-order it at the moment, and I likely won't before the 11nth short of skimping on a necessity. Asshat move, EA.

Either way i'll still have to sit on the 360 dashboard watching a number slowly rise instead of actually playing the FUCKING game, i can afford the 560 points as i can't be bothered to preorder but i don't have the patience to buy a new game (especially a new Bioware game)and then wait for 30 minutes for the DLC to download!

Nice, the first DLC is out before the game itself is completed. Fuck Project Ten Dollar and fuck DLC entirely. This obsession over DLC actually dissuades me from picking up certain titles because i just can't be fucked with it. I hate it. Same with future DLC; i hate paying £7 or whatever it is for 2 hours worth of content. I know people say that's just the same as going to the cinema, but you know what, at least going to the cinema gets you out of the house. I really hate starting to get into something, then BAM it's over. I appreciate developers are doing this pre-order DLC stuff to try and get more money in their pockets, but i just hate the whole thing.

Not long and DLC will be announced before their games. That will be interesting.

Looks interesting enough. I mean for free. Don't understand the obsession with preordering, but if it gets me free extra stuff, why not?
This DLC WAS announced before the game.

Well, I won't buy the game untill, I'll see the reviews, I also want the DLC, I guess I'll have to resort to alternative ways of getting both the game and DLC. Well, it's their loss.

Especially with the road their taking with their games...

For fucks sake, a game I'm actually looking forward to and they fuck me over? no way will I be able to preorder that soon. Fuck you EA. Another sign that the games industry is just becoming greedier and greedier every god damn year.

DLC is the plague of gaming in my opinion.

What I was thinking, really. After all, we haven't heard that Dragon Age 2 has gone gold, so to speak, so I can't myself imagine why this content shouldn't be included in the game right off the bat.

Sorry EA, you've lost me on this one. Won't be touching this "bonus content" unless it somehow materialises for free somewhere down the line.

In other news, I hear people who pre-order Mass Effect 3 will be treated to the "Normandy" bonus DLC. This DLC will gave players access to the state of the art ship "The Normandy", offering them additional missions, a place to keep their space hamsters and the ability to quickly travel across the galaxy. The DLC will also be available on XBL for 800 MS Points. Players without the DLC can still travel around by waiting for the next shuttle at the Illium spaceport.
