If more people preorder a game, EA gets a better idea about how many units to make and whether to start on DA 3. If you want people to preorder you provide them with an incentive. Seem like just smart business to me.

If you're announcing DLC before the game's out, EA, you're just fucking us out of release content.
Exactly. This is not additional content, this is getting people to pay more for content, more than likely, stripped from the game itself. DLC as a trend is rather abysmal and a terribly rapist practice in the game industry these days. Please do not support these things as it will only make them worse.

Remember back in the day when Bioware released packs of content for free and heavily supported community mods and content? Yeah, not so much anymore. They should have stayed independent of EA, which is a cancer in this industry.

I hate these lofty preorder bonuses, I don't know if they are going to be good or not, they should be in the game anyway, and if the game flops I paid top dollar for it. I get that they want to curb used sales, but putting the content gun to my head and saying, buy it new or the game will be less than optimal is a shitty way to go about things.

I think games now that we get could be called the Capitalist cut of the game. It isn't the game well true and complete it's the edition the devs make as unfinished as possible to milk it for more and more money. Movies have directors cuts and edits to where they feel the film is correct, we just have our media so that no one can have the same opinion of a game because they all played different edits of it with different plot lines and stories, because one guy pays 59.99 and the other buys a limited edition with 40 dollars worth of expansion, thusly creating a sort of DA2 lite and DA2.

As long as they keep putting all the DLC in the GOTY/Ultimate editions, its A-Okay!

Though I did pre-order this a month ago, but that is rare for me.

Couldn't they make it free with the pre-order then just sell it normally to other players after it launches?
That is exactly what they're doing. They are rewarding those who pre-order the game early by giving them free DLC. However, some retailers have misunderstod and thinks that the signature edition is supposed to cost more than the regular edition because it has more content. It is the retailers that's ripping us of here, not EA.

People are getting the totally wrong idea about this.

Bioware are not screwing people who do not pre-order the game. They are rewarding those who do. Many people pre-order games anyway, and for showing a little faith our game makers are giving us a reward. They are not charging any more than they will for the game release, and will be giving away an extra character, weapons and (to be honest, my clincher for the deal!) the soundtrack, none of which will have any real effect on the game as a unit.

Hell, for any UK readers you can pre-order the game right now (still signature version!) for £25 on amazon.co.uk. That is £10 cheaper than the release price from EA will be!

Some DLC I disagree with. Even Bioware, my favourite game makers, have made me feel like a cash cow. I really thought Return to Ostagar was an integral part of the game and gave you information on the game's core storyline that should have been included in the main version.

But this is fair in my books. They are asking for a little faith and commitment, and rewarding those who show it with content that is nice, but not essential.

This kinda ticked me off a bit........I feel like they just picked whatever contents from the vanilla game to make a DLC and charges people for it.

Preorder before January 11, yet Steam didn't list it for preorder until today (the 12th). Coincidence? I think not.

God damn it.

I gotta agree about the time limit on pre-ordering comment. I've had it pre-ordered for a month now so it doesn't effect me but it seems kinda silly to have such a limit. Particularly since the game isn't coming out for almost two months still. Making a pre-order incentive is one thing but having this limit is overboard.

Ya know what? I'm sick to death of this whole DLC thing, and I blame consolers. Before them, stuff like this would be included as part of a patch for a pc game, but with the rising of the ADHD console gamer, developers have learnt they can release an incomplete game for full price, then charge people more and more over time to play what would have originally been part of the release game.

How long before all we get for our money is a single character, an npc and a map or two to mess around with, while the meat of a game is released piecemeal over time and you'll only get to play it if you have the funds or are willing to pirate?

Enough is enough. Developers can't release a full game without it being bugged up the shitter to the point of unplayability (which has happened with quite a few alleged A-grade releases over the last few years) or a hodge-podge with obvious missing chunks (like dragon age) these days. They have no reason to be announcing, let alone working on or even thinking about "DLC".
