Yet another case of idiots over-reacting and getting all preachy about a video game, albeit one based on a book/play/whatever the fuck.
Agreed.

Seriously, it was obviously a joke. People don't really expect that they're giving out their Booth Babes as escorts, do they?
Why not. It is acceptable for a contest to have a dinner with a celebrity. And they are technically celebrities. It wasn't like there was any promises of sex. Just 2 humans eating at the same table.
Indeed. However, it's a little different when one is dinner, and the other is prostitution.

That is why I said there wasn't any promises of sex. If there were it is a whole new ballgame

How could nobody at EA not see how 'Booty' could be misconstrued when they had just said the phrase "acts of lust"?

Although... Heh heh. Booty.
A chest of booty, at that.

And I think EA is desperately trying to win their crown of Most Evil Videogame Corporation Ever back from Activision.

I hope you guys know, the rules are not what you think.

To enter the contest, you take pictures of yourself with EA 'booth babes', then send it through a specified EA address either through email, Facebook ,or Twitter. Out of all the pictures, one winner is handpicked to win the grand prize.

In addition, you still cannot send pictures deemed 'inappropriate', so that obviously means no nudity, gore, etc.

Now, in my opinion - eh...either they're desperate or this is a good marketing ploy.

Look how much attention it gets based on controversy alone. Incredibly silly, but it seems to be working...just like that silly "protest" a while back.

Also, this contest is seems to have forgotten something. What happens if a girl enters the contest? Do they not get "two hot guys"?

Well, it's nice to realize that they saw that the wording was goddamn terrible.

I mean, really. That was quite possibly the worst way they could have put it, EVER.

Then I seem to remember someone telling me Asia Carerra (porn starlet) made a point out of saying that she played Unreal Tournament at some point and was a "real nerd" in what struck me as being a promotional thing as well.
actually asia carrera is pretty much legit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asia_Carrera#Other_interests

This whole fiasco is ridiculous. A society that sells sex daily, to kids, to adults, to every living breathing adult, can't even face it when it's done bluntly. From shampoo commercials to car commercials, sex is used to sell, and EA merely did what everyone else did, while also fitting it into the theme of Dante's Inferno.

Let's worry about scantily clad women, not the men being burned in casks, tearing each other apart, being chased by wasps, and the other horrific things Dante described in his poem.

The parody of our society, violence is healthy, but sex is not. One destroys, the other creates.

The stupid puritanical people of this country need to keep their beliefs to themselves, if they don't like the game, don't buy it.

Heh heh. Chest.

I'm imagining EA sitting in a castle on top of a mountain, twirling their moustaches.

EA Executive 1: Behold, gentlemen, my new creation. I present... E3!
EA Executive 2,3 & 4, in unison: But doesn't E3 already exist?
EA Executive 1: Ah, you are mistaken. This is my master plan... THE EVIL EXECUTIVE EMPIRE!
EA Executive 1-4: *evil laugh*
Hang on. That could work.

I hereby claim copyright on EA: The Movie, starring Tommy Lee Jones, David Hasselhoff and Uma Thurman.

The person who organized this is probably getting yelled at right now in some EA office... Poor chap, oh well!

I can see how people didn't like the wording however, kind of encouraged groping of the booth babes.

If you took offense to this you really should just stay at Sunday School....

We are freaking adults, how the hell is this offensive?

I am offended at how the 'Moral Guardians' are supposedly a mouth peice for the gaming industry, let alone the Comic Industry.

It is beyond me how anyone could possibly commiserate with EA over something like wording when the "contest" actively promotes sexual harassment, a FEDERAL CRIME in the US. Those girls were not hired to do more than speak and/or stand beside a product. There is no way a clause in their contract would ever allow for physical contact as it would also violate the same federal crimes listed above. Either way EA is not the sole employer of "booth babes" at the show so it's only semantics at this point.

For those defending EA's request to assault women without consent in violation of US law and basic civil rights... I'd like to hear what your girlfriends/mothers/daughters think of your opinions on booth babes.

And then Activision could be the clandestine cloaked cult....I'm thinking maybe we could dig up Vincent Price for that part. Maybe sign Danny Devito as his seecond in command.

Hold on, I'm writing this down.

THANK YOU.

And I love the way the very existance of the booth babes is being used to discredit the views of people who find this appalling. As if the people who hire them could give a rat's arse what people like us think. That's just so classy.
