If EA truly thinks this they are in for a shock.
Well they have to hope. In his heart of hearts, even Riccitello knows that he won't win.
As much as I hate to say it, we all know that CoD will obliterate all competition, probably setting new records (as usual). But oh how I'd love to be priven wrong.

Wait that was console footage that was shown? That's funny I was just thinking "well that PC footage looks good but how is it on consoles?"

Still I'm a little concerned about the single player mode. The only ones that had any story were the Bad Company ones and even they didn't explain the reason for the on going conflict. (Note: they didn't need to.) Unless it's essentially a glorified tutorial that will teach you how to play the multiplayer then it might be worth it. Bad Company 1 was good in this regard. Bad Company 2 not so much. (There was no helicopter piloting mission hence why you had all the heli-noobs in the beginning) Still if EA really wants to clean up they should consider releasing a multiplayer only version that's about ten to fifteen dollars cheaper.

Can't wait to see the return of the planes especially now that they have the destructible environments.

Summary:
Riccitiello to Kotick: Our penis is bigger then your penis!

What a boring news story, one company saying there similar game is better then another. Of course he's going to say "our is better" its not like he's going to say its worse.

You know what we need? A large group of people playing Battlefield 3 style, a large group of them playing Modern Warfare 3. Set them loose in a gigantic map and let them fight for several days. Whoever gets the most kills wins and we can end this whole "clash of the titans" bullshit once and for all.

Can we please get off this "Battlefield vs Call of Duty" war? Its stupid. Both games look near-identical anyway.

Plus it'll just end hilariously badly for EA. Even if Battlefield 3 is better in every single way, Call of Duty will still destroy it in sales. With all this hype, it seems EA was more focused in making a direct CoD challenger, instead of focusing on just making a great game.

I really hope they let DICE do the latter.
This pretty much sums up my opinion.

The thing I worry about though, is what lies in Battlefield's future. If it does manage to "beat" CoD in, whose to say that Battlefield won't become the next Call of Duty.

Yearly releases, franchise milking, absurd DLC prices, nothing's to stop Battlefield going down that route.
Yes there is. Competition. People seem to forget that Battlefield used to be the king of the online military shooters but was dethroned by Call of Duty. You think they would have put as much effort into Bad Company 2 and did awesome things like including free map packs and dedicated servers if they weren't out sold by Modern Warfare? If they do somehow manage to overtake Call of Duty then it means Activision will just have to start putting effort into the next Call of Duty game. When there's intense competition among game companies like this then it benefits all of us.

Wait did he say they showed console footage at their press conference? Because when they were demoing the game's single player there (the tank scenario), the dude who was playing it was playing on a PC. Hell they showed him playing it on a PC :p But really now this is just sad. They're building themselves up so much, that this is going to kill Call of Duty, that when they fail it's just going to be hysterical. I love Battlefield, but I just don't think it's going to happen. Honestly EA should just stop....it's making them look really childish.

I'm not even interested in these guys, but the Battlefield 3 guys are really looking pathetic with all these childish potshots of Call of Duty. Let your game speak for itself. You're just looking like a blowfish now.

Did Kotick take a dig at PC gamers? Shits going down now! xD

And good, so EA should it's about time Kotick became scared instead of being up his own arse.

This is the healthy competition that the market is made for. If DICE's Battlefield 3 even takes a chunk out of MW3's sales popularity, it is more likely both will step up their endgame in the , True the fanboy war is annoying, but will likely lead to a better product for both franchises.

Its a win - win situation, one that isn't too farfetched considering how surprisingly well Bad Company 2 sold months after MW2's release, and its marketing strategy was complexity in direct attack to MW2, and I still play BC2 to this day.

I'm just wondering out loud here - but don't those guys feel embarrassed when saying shit like this? I mean for one, they're smack talking, which is lame in itself. But then, even by standards of smack talk, you'd call what both sides present "weaksauce". So... in what universe do they think they're making themselves look better in whatever shape or form, be it marketing, PR, coolness factor, coolness factor in eyes of douchebags, etc., cause I literally ain't seeing anyone who looks at this and doesn't just cringe.

Kotick was not allowed into the room for BF3 because he was not on the list of invited people. There was about 400 other people standing in line so I don't find it all too weird he didn't get special admission to their showroom.

Say it agaaain!

Anyways... I love how Riccitiello's into this, it's like we're gonna have a Uwe Boll-esque boxing match with Kotick and Riccitiello going at it for the sake of their products :3
they really should have a boxing match.

*Ding Ding Ding* Both parties have stepped into the ring, it's only a matter of time before the victor emerges triumphant...

Taking all bets! Who will it be? ;)

Currently it seems more like a lone boxer in a ring shouting obscenities and challenging someone sitting out of the ring on a pile of money.

Hey kotick, just because your game was shitty enough to not sell on the PC doesn't mean that the PC has a small audience, you dolt. Why the hell is Activision successful at all?

Speaking purely from a numbers standpoint, if you believe that PCs are the biggest buying audience out there, you are very, very wrong.
