Yes Mr. Riccitiello, your dad is cooler than Mr. Kotick's dad. Can you drop it now?

So its two near identical modern first person shooters competing against each other? Multiplayer will have exactly the same modes, the only real difference will be who's single player campaign will suck the least.

Hey kotick, just because your game was shitty enough to not sell on the PC doesn't mean that the PC has a small audience, you dolt. Why the hell is Activision successful at all?
I think the consoles sell more then PC for the CoD games so why not focus on what sales more, I think I hear a little bias in your post.

Not really. Battlefield lets you drive tanks planes and helicopters whenever you feel like it as well as blow up buildings. Call of Duty only lets you do that if you can manage to kill a certain number of dudes in a row without dying. Also you can't blow buildings up.

It is published by EA. use your head!

OT BF* will always be the better game than COD*. I am just afraid they will consolize (dumb it down) the PC version when they are hyping it up as being made for PC first then for console. somehow i dont believe that and features that were in BF2/2142 and other PC FPS since will be lost and controls will be shit in some way. (example BFBC2 had to use the "use" control on PC the same as the "pickup kit" control and that was a pain in the ass!! and we had how many keys not used?????)

If they do make it in the spirit of BF2 then it will do allot of damage to COD customers. Not only in sales but in sequal sales after, more so the sequal. We are already at the saturation point for COD being the same game as the last one x5. BF3 adding PC standards to console and then BF4 and COD10(?)... COD* would probably have less customers.

Think i am done forecasting... BF3 will be a console port and same as BFBC2.

*edit

BFBC was a console game, for the sequal EA said BFBC2 on PC was not a console port. they lied.

well i do hope EA realizes that beating CoD has nothing to do with the quality of BF3 but how well you market it... well of course EA realizes that, what am i saying?

im rooting for BF3 if only because i find the BF series moderately more entertaining than CoD (dont really care for either...) and to lessen the likelyhood of the world being exposed to kotick's nightmarish smile if CoD "wins".

Ummm the PC version was actually somewhere around 15% of total sales. Hell duno if it still is but at one point there was something like five times more pirated copies on the PC then actual sales. So speaking from a purely numbers standpoint the PC version sold extremely shitty.

This is speaking about both black ops and mw2.
You may want to reread what I said.

**Implied insult of all PC games, PC developers and gamers**

Really Kotick? Again?
I don't see how speaking about the facts on how the PC audience is smaller and contributes less to overall sales is an insult. All he said is "small audience" which is entirely correct, and hardly an insult.

I think this is great for the industry. It gets a lot of press and its good to see two huge games going at it like never before. I am on the side of BF3. CoD4 got me into the series and genre, but the inability to innovate within the series has left me bored after putting so much time into CoD4 and MW2. I feel like where CoD could have innovated, it didn't. Plus, just as Halo did (but not to this extent), CoD has gone to the kiddies. New weapons and attachments are not innovations.

LoL, not that I personally wouldn't find BF3 better, but EA is not a smart company. All they are gonna do is cry when everything is said and done. And the way they are limiting the PC release to their crappy digital system... well that isn't going to help them.

We should organize a boxing match between Bobby and John, then when the bell rings the place should explode and they are killed. Then maybe the industry can move forward. Oh, and the only people in the Audience will be the executive boards from each company.... yeah, that is good.

I think EA is missing the point. People don't buy CoD because it's a better game than Battlefield. They buy it because their friends will buy it, and because they bought the last one, and because it's exactly the same as the previous few games so they won't have any difficulty picking it up and understanding how to play it.
This reminds me of the thing people tend to miss. EA is not DICE. EA is the publisher, it is literally their job to poke at competition and make their investments look shinier. The guys at Dice are working extremely hard to make a good game. Both of them have their own marketing techniques but they approach it from different angles. Also Activision didn't do very well with the publisher/developer relationship with the whole infinityward/respawn fiasco. There were actually respawn entertainment developers playing BF3 at E3.

I hate Kotick and Activision, but I'll still be laughing my ass off when Battlefield 3 inevitably bombs (at least compared to CoD)

Can we please get off this "Battlefield vs Call of Duty" war? Its stupid. Both games look near-identical anyway.

Plus it'll just end hilariously badly for EA. Even if Battlefield 3 is better in every single way, Call of Duty will still destroy it in sales. With all this hype, it seems EA was more focused in making a direct CoD challenger, instead of focusing on just making a great game.

I really hope they let DICE do the latter.
Hell, I'd say EA just wanted to make Call of Duty.

What will be the next punch, it can substitute as a "girlfriend" with the hole in the disc?!? This is pretty out of hand considering that the future of these types of games amounts to less than a pissing contest.

Only when Activision decides, "Screw it, let's just make Call of Duty a monthly service like WoW!" that EA has any shot at separating its own franchise by not screwing customers royally, which seems highly unlikely...

I'm just wondering out loud here - but don't those guys feel embarrassed when saying shit like this? I mean for one, they're smack talking, which is lame in itself. But then, even by standards of smack talk, you'd call what both sides present "weaksauce". So... in what universe do they think they're making themselves look better in whatever shape or form, be it marketing, PR, coolness factor, coolness factor in eyes of douchebags, etc., cause I literally ain't seeing anyone who looks at this and doesn't just cringe.
Indeed, the whole scenario reeks of a playground encounter more than a professional environment aimed at the betterment of video game trends and direction. In this case, Call of Duty clearly *inspired* the very life-blood of Battlefield 3 and the most EA should say is just that about CoD, lest they blow their cover of an attempt in replicating a formula that has garnered Activision plenty of cash. Only the likes of middle school fanboys with nothing else to argue about would engage themselves in stale mudslinging between two franchises that are trying to out-do one another by mimicking one another to an eventual tee.

It's sad how early the "Can't beat 'em, join 'em!" mentality has struck video games like these two competitors.

Is he stupid?
No doubt BF3 will be better in almost all ways than COD
But COD will sell more, has a bigger brand and more kids know about it

Pretty simple stuff, think someone at his level could see that

I never said they were larger than the others, but dismissing them as a platform to sell games on is just silly, especially since every game is made on a PC.
