I've accepted that this game is as far from the original as possible so I'm sure I'll be able to find some enjoyment with these new additions in Dead Space 3. However, I really just wish they had kept the survival-horror angle, 'cause action-horror just isn't as enjoyable to me.

As for the transition of the Dead Space series from more horror to more shooter... It kinda makes sense, when you think about it.

I mean, sure, necromorphs and whatnot are scary. But after the umpteenth time you've faced down a horde of them with improvised weaponry, the "horror" aspect of Isaac's experience must be running pretty low.

"Oh look, more zombies. /yawn."

Seems we have to rely on indie devs for our true survival horror games.

Fingers crossed that Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs remains true to its survival-horror roots!

Soon as I saw Isaac roll to the side I realised how far this series has fallen. I know it sounds really pathetic, but this isn't supposed to be an action game. In addition the protagonist is an engineer, how is he able to make such acrobatic moves in huge, clunky, metallic armour that looked like it was limiting his movement in previous games?

Ah well.

Nothing to protect me but a glorified flashlight? No, but I do remember the game where I had a mining tool, a flamethrower and a military issue assault weapon.
