EA still manage to be surprising. I have a feeling they did this more to be on the news againt than real support, but still at least they did SOMETHING right. so a +1 from me this time

"truly innovative"
"the most progressive company in the industry"

Oh wow, I'm dying here. Especially after they tried to play off the backlash to ME3's shitty writing as homophobia.

Why can't we just have a regular gaming convention where everyone is accepted, and there's no sexual assault, booth babes, homophobia, or racism?

Supporting LGBT is all well and good, but I can't help but feel like this just making things worse by separation.

But anyway, on to EA. Let them support whatever the hell they want. I really don't care what they do anymore.
There are *some* issues specific to the LGBT community and gaming - much more so if you net geek culture as a whole. Entire genres devoted to it in areas like manga. Gaming? not so much. They're kind of under or poorly represented here but nowhere near as badly as in tv or other media.

It's gratuitous, you'd be better off making some kind of feminism-centric convention with regards to gaming.

That said I'd love to go to this one, booth hunks sound fantastic and every lgbt anything I've been to has been crazy fun cause everyone is so nice to one-another.

I myself am all for this.
I like how EA is activity going out of its way and supporting LGBT instead of just saying they supporting them.

Good on you EA.

Don't get your hopes up EA, you've got a lot of work do to if you want to salvage your rep. Still I'm not so bitter that I can't give kudos for doing the right thing here. Good job EA.

"Yeah, I mean those gamers that have their own conventions for only gamer people, what are they thinking? Why do they have to separate themselves from "normal people" by having their own convention, way to go about segregating themselves..."

Jesus christ, let the gaymers have their own convention if they want to. If this thing is being done, it clearly shows that there's a market for it and people have been requesting it.

Just out of curiosity.... (I'm not really interested in too much of a discussion right now, but I'm just looking for feedback.) Would you go to a race-themed gaming convention? Say, a gaming convention targeted at the "urban market?"

Wrong person to ask really, I don't like gaming conventions that much, find them really boring and especially in the AAA gaming sector. It's not what it was 5 years ago. I just like meeting LGBT people en masse and the context would be enough.

Lets all think here for a bit: Why are homosexuals a 'minority', whereas redhaired, or lefthanded, or tall or short people are just... people with some less common atribute?

Its because we make a big fakkin deal out of it, even where it realy is not relevant.

Its human nature to group others and themselves. To make easy little categories of people and judge them by whatever standards that entails. This is a nasty, shitty habbit that has been and is one of the majour causes of misery on all scales.

This convention, I am sure everyone will have a great time, having a safe haven does feel good, but it does not solve the problem.

Your preaching to the choir, sitting around the table to discuss your problem with only the people that agree with you (yes anyone is welcome, no homophobes wont be there).

Discuss the problem with and amongst people that disagree with you. Convince people that actualy need convincing. Stop labeling yourselves with increasingly silly sounding words. Maybe one day your sexual orientation will be seen as just another atribute of you, rather than you sole defining feature.

Ancient greek society hated just about everyone and everything except homosexuals so its got to be possible.
