I wish they all would stop verbally sparing and throw down in a ring or with guns or something for real.

I find it all amusing, and hell seeing a big name company tell another to fo is always good for a chuckle when there is so much lawyering and crap in gaming and life in general.

But the cynic in me sees this as a huge pr grab by EA, EA had a pretty crappy rep with gamers in past years and have made inroads into rehabing that rep in the past few years.

Activision has exceled at pissing off gamers now and for years, what better way to score cred with gamers by picking on the guy everyone hates. Noone can actively get behind activision with bobby at the helm, or lest very few can.

So either way it turns out EA will get more plus rep with younger gamers in particualar.

If this in some way makes games better then great a nice side effect.

While EA isn't exactly acting like mature adults, I don't believe one word out of Hirshbergs mouth. He's just saying those good things to make Activision look better but I'm pretty sure he doesn't believe the words he says. Of course that doesn't make the words of Green any better.

Well since I don't give a rats ass about either of these companies, I'm just going to make some popcorn and enjoy the show!

Wooooo! Come on, spill some blood!

Come on, I want to see how this works out. If Battlefield 3 turns out to suck, which would be surprising, then we laugh at EA for being so immature. If Modern Warfare 3 sucks, which, looking at the spec ops mode previews, sounds unlikely, then we laugh at Activision, trying to seem like the more mature of the two.

That said, I hope the developers themselves are being civil. Publishers can throw shit all they want, but I at least expect the people making the games to be best buds. Don't know why, strange mental image I've come to like.

Calumon: Is it like that...

Jack: I have no idea what you're going to say but I don't think I'll like where it would go.

EA says the want CoD to fail.
Activision says they want healthy competition and all games to succeed.

One of these companies is lying their ass off. Guess which.

I'm disappointed the "Zang a doo!" wasn't part of the actual quote.

Congratulations EA, you're managing to come off as being more of a dick than Activision.

That's quite the accomplishment. You must have really had to work at it.
It took a lot of practice, although now so many of their recent decisions make a whole lot more sense don't they? :D

Gentlemen please, settle this like civilised men on the field of honour. Deathmatches on MW3 and BF3, most kills wins.

In truth seeing two very highly paid businessmen talk smack to each other is really pathetic and unprofessional.

Why does anyone care about this? EA and Activision are the biggest jerks in gaming. You hear it everywhere about how EA are better than Activision or vice-versa. Who cares if EA are acting how everyone expects them to? Is no one else getting tired of the constant discussion that never ends about these two companies? I'm really getting bored of it. Why do people care?

Activision and EA always "screw" the consumers; according to everyone anyway. Activision release the same game every two years and EA "screw" the consumers in every other way. It's the same story every day about how BF3 won't have a server list, or how BF3 "will pawn MW3 becuz its gey lol". Or how MW3 will be the world's best selling game, or how the entire CoD franchise is just one game.

Why does anyone care? EA are jerks and so are Activision. We've known that for many years. It doesn't even relate to your enjoyment of the games if EA beats its chest and announces that it's an über l33t company that's way cooler than Activision.

Okay, you know what? I'm just going to say it. Shut the fuck up EA. Get over yourself. Seriously. Make games, promote your games, sell your games. That's FINE. That's fucking GREAT. Good on ya'. But when you start attacking other devs, slinging shit like a school yard bully? Yeah, there's where people start losing all respect for you. And this applies to ALL companies, not just EA and Activision. People need to just shut up and focus on making a product that is good and will sell on its own merit, instead of just making a product and trying to sell more by flat-out insulting your contemporaries.
Agree wholeheartedly with this ... Fuck you management of EA. As a company I think EA is actually having a negative impact on the industry, and I hope they'll have a radical change of perspective soon for the benefit of the industry.

Am I the only one that's totally on EA's side here?

I mean, yeah EA is run by a bunch of colossal dicks that are just trying to get my money, but Activision is not one iota better. At least EA is being honest about it for once, and they're even making a halfway decent attempt at being funny about it. That stupid garbage that Hirschberg is spewing is such obvious and shallow lies that it just makes me want to punch him in his stupid smarmy face.

I'm surprised there are even people defending Activision. Bobby Kotick's mouth has cause enough damage to that company. And I'm sorry but bringing up the Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk failures was a great point. Activision hasn't really published anything else worth playing other than CoD and that's a problem. Look at what relying on one franchise did to Square Enix.

I have never been a fan of EA, but i reckon the OP is right. This may be what Activision need to stop trundling the same crap out year after year, expecting users to buy it (thats EA's thing!).

I personally find the to and fro comical. We are in the business of games, which are fun, not super serious stocks. Let the devs/pubs do there thing, have a laugh and hopefully raise the whole industries moral so maybe we don't have a repeat of team bondi.

This may be a playground, but even the most naive anthropologist will tell you that a lot of the skills needed as an adult are developed there. Hopefully this will make both companies more mature.

I'm sad to say that I'm supporting EA in this one. CoD really does need to fucking rot. Battlefield 3 is pushing the genre forward, while Activision KNOWS they're going to ultimately make more profits, and, I guarantee you, they're aware that the game they're making is not too different from the previous installments. I really don't give a crap about two rich white dudes taking personal stabs at each other. I just want people to realize how terrible Call of Duty is.

You know what? Just STFU and give me Battlefield 3, this weird publisher trash talk is so pointless because after all they are just publishers, they arent even the ones developing the games.

When DICE or Sledgehammer (its one of them, right) talk they never mention the other game, thats the way to go.

Overall, fuck EA and Activision, they both only care about the money, DICE and the COD team, keep up the good work.

EA, you will not be getting their sales numbers. Definitely not on the PC since you're not distributing the game on the largest DD service with the biggest audience, and cut out server browsing, which is a stupid thing to do.

It will be more or less the same on consoles as well. Last two CoD's made $1 billion. Good luck with that, EA.

Competition is nice and all, But The name calling and the big fu is a big Unnecessary and immature. This makes EA look like the Dicks, but we all know Activision is Evil here...according to people? Not me, Don't care about the two New Shooter games.
