That EA feels the need to express confidence in BioWare at all is troubling, especially given their track record.
As for BioWare themselves, I find I can't condemn them outright: mistakes have been made, I don't think anyone can deny that, but they've gotten a lot of things right too. Who cares about repetitive dungeons in DA2 when Isabela and Aveline are having the most hilarious discussion about Donnic's habits in bed? ME3's ending was a little harder to forgive (to this day I can't listen to the Catalyst without gritting my teeth), but I respect the intent behind the Extended Cut and so much of that game provoked emotional reactions for me - Thane's death, Tali drunk-dialing Javik, the amazing love scene with Kaidan, etc.
And really, it's not like we should be romanticizing BW's past either - "Baldur's Gate" and "Jade Empire" were and still are fantastic games, but they were guilty of the occasional misstep too. But their games have developed over time, and some aspects clearly have evolved for the better: look at how morality works in BG2 (evil is punished even though it's an option), in DA:O (separate approval for every companion based on their characterization) and in ME3 (one Reputation bar means you aren't penalized for being Paragon in some situations and Renegade in others). Look at how same-sex romance has gone from being something that needed active metagaming (JE) to honest portrayals that are fully equal to heteronormative relationships (DA2, ME3).
So for me, it comes down to one question: what are they going to do next? What lessons have they learned from recent mistakes? What's their next opportunity to demonstrate progress? If they can show me that kind of upward mobility, it'll be easier to forgive them when they stumble along the way.
