dont you just hate them! as soon as you bid you've been out bid !! you bid on the last minute and get out bid.

i think ebay should ban them, if you want something that badly then sit there and wait for it to finish

They aren't doing anything wrong, so no they shouldn't ban them. If you want the item that badly, either buy it now or sit there and snipe them back.

It's quite a good tactic to get what you want.

I suggest you do the same, because It's completely fair =p

The whole point of bidding, is to outbid the other. When they outbid you doesn't matter at all.

If you want something that badly, you'll do anything to get it.

I used to hate them, until I started doing it myself. I sneaked into an auction for dragon quest viii and placed the highest bid with (literally) 7 seconds to go on it, and I won for $9. If that was anybody here that I beat out, I'm sorry.

A good way to tell if someone is keeping an eye on it to snipe is if an item is going for far less than it usually does, even though the item has been out for a little while.

Well, I've never bought anything off of Ebay through bidding. Only 'Buy It Now'
Too bad for you I guess. By the way, what item were you bidding for that caused you such grief?

Uhh.. Snipe them back?
No big deal.
And if there are multiple people selling it, just go to a sale without a bid. Y'know, the ones with "Buy it now" options.

Exactly, bidding when the auction is about to close is a good tactic to maximise the potential success of your bid. It's not like they're doing something that is frowned upon by eBay (or even most bidders)

I've never actually bidded on eBAY before. I can tell you it's probably something I would done instinctively.

Yeah, it wasn't something I had thought about before I was going to bid but there was an NFL Jersey that I really wanted for a decent price so I just readied my bid and waited til there was around 20 seconds left and hit send.

I don't think there's anything wrong with bidding like that personally, although I can see how it could annoy someone who had been leading the bids for a few days only to be beaten right as it was about to close.

Are you sure that it is a sniper and not that the person before you made a bid higher than yours? The current bid is not the highest bid, it is the minimum amount that beats the second highest bid plus a small increment,

e.g.
if the highest bid on the item is $30 and you were to then bid $35, the current bid will now change to $31. If someone else were to join in now and bid $32, you will instantly outbid them so that the current bid will still be yours but at the increased price of $33.

they shouldn't be banned, it is part of the bidding thing. Once someone called me some bad things in an email for out bidding him on something, i wasn't snipping or anything. And I will never forgive that fucker that sniped me at the last second on that Kikaider action figure.

All it means is that someone had a higher final bid than you, so they automatically got it. Ebay scales bids automatically up to a maximum.

Besides, you are trying to do exactly what you are complaining about. Just a little hypocritical don't you think?

Don't tell people to start camping, try rushing! If you up the bid so it looks higher than similar items, but it's low enough that when people snipe the overall sales price won't be effected. If that makes sense...
