Hey guys correct me if I misinterpreted this but is Edge games sueing EA games just becuase they put the word EDGE into the game and it just so happens tha they are called EDGE games?
Yes, in essence. Basically, if you have a product with Edge (Mirror's Edge, The Edge (a film), Edge (a game by MobyGames)) in its name, chances are you'll be sued by Edge Games.

July 14th, 1010:
Tim Langdell sues suicide teenager's parents.

In a letter from legal representatives to the grieving Family: "It clearly states (in the suicide note) that Joseph had been, and I quote: "On the Edge for many months" so, TIMMY WANTS YOUR MONIES"...

I can see this happening eventually.

You can't copyright a word you didn't make, is Langdell completely retarded?

I'd love to be EA's PR or Legal guy, just tell him to "Fuck off."

Seriously, when is he going to learn that a word like 'edge' is not copyrightable.

OH SHI-
Uh oh, you just said the E word. You're probably next.

But seriosuly these trademarks should be revoked or the terms of it to be made more specific.
But I'm on the edge of excitement to see the edges of this boundary-edge legal battle on the edge of copyright law. Also, I hope EA take so much cash off of 'Edge games' that they go away from our news items for every. Unleash the cuttingedge lawyers from the edges of the EA legal department.

EDGE EDGE EDGE!

EDIT: Sales don't come into it at all. The fact Mirrors (Edge Game's... "game") hasn't sold more than a handful of copies at most just makes the case more pathetic.
Actually, the fact that Edge Games' game may in fact not exist at all makes the case not just pathetic but actively fraudulent.

(Go on, try and actually buy a product from them.)
According to some reviews they actually sell stuff

some cuts ;

delivered on a blank recordable DVD
packaging is ink-jet printing
DVD label was a sticker
Yeah, that sounds like the kind of legit company that can take on EA, he probably hand-make that shit one by one in his basement...

Come on now people, we all knew this was coming.

[sub]Also we should totally change the name of the site to The Edgescapist for a day.[/sub]

Perhaps he thinks it gives him an edge in the industry.
So, in the adult entertainment industry, "edge" is actually a euphemism for "erection". Takes this discussion to whole new level, doesn't it?

Doesn't he have a wrestler to sue, then?

And every single or double-EDGED sword in the world.

And everyone who's living STRAIGHT-EDGE.

Ask yourself honestly, "What term can't be used as an innuendo for a phallus?"

I made an account just to be able to show you this:
http://www.amazon.com/Racers-Pc/product-reviews/B002PXUZU0/ref=cm_cr_dp_hist_5?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&filterBy=addFiveStar

apparently this guy has a new game and the review is hilarious. Its probably ironic but in my mind he is sitting in his office trying to write a review on his on game but he is just incapable of letting go of his trade marks and must include an ® in every sentence.
Holy crap, I was in agony with laughter by the end of that review. " Pressing various keys allows you to control your sleek craft and mastery of this skill is key to being a competitive member of the thriving online Racers® community"

lol, is my reaction to that statement.
Has anyone read the FULL case, their was a link somewhere on page one. All I can say is wow, that is fraud on an unimaginable level.

How illegal is assassination just by the way on an unrelated note...

EDIT: Sorry, I kinda repeated what you said, I'm coming down with a bad cold, sorry, But it is still hard to tell.

man this is messed up, went to wikipedia and searched "edge games". There is 4 lines of text about their games and 13(yes I counted them)big fricking paragrafs about all these crappy lawsuits. I think the present Edge games is just Langdell sitting infront of his computer googling "Edge" all day, looking for someone to sue.

Damn. The next one will have to be called, "Mirror's Shard." Actually, come to think of it, that doesn't sound too bad!
Seriously though, edge is a ridiculous word to patent. No way one company can exclusively own it.
Ahem, I've placed a copyright on "the", and you used it in your post, so I'm afraid you're going to have to pay up or get sued.

I'm sorry as well. As part of the Post Office of England, we have patented the word, "post". We even?

Right, the most obvious reason for all this is simple.

Tim Langdell cannot get an erection unless he sues someone.

I cannot think of any other rational reason for this.
That is the funniest thing I have seen all day, kudos good sir, kudos.

I need to make a game company called Of games. Think of the lawsuits that I could waste my money on! The Call of Duty series alone should drive me bankrupt.

Something tells me Mirror's periphery wouldn't have had the same ring to it.
Mirror's Butt, on the ohter hand...

I'm afraid not, as we've patented "word" as well. Furthermore, you continue to use "the" without my corporation's consent. Please cease this immediately or we will be forced to act.
