If I were a judge, it would be worth disbarment to find Langdell liable for court costs plus "a sharp blow to the face".

Proof once again that big businesses can still engage in arguments like a 5 year old.

It's be almost worth it for EA to buy Langdell's shitty company (can't be worth much more than 200k right ? with their extensive catalogue of products...) just to force him to stay on as the village idiot.Bobby Kotick could have someone to punch in the face when he feels down a little...

Seriously though, they should have stuck to bullying indie developpers, trying to take on EA on something as stupid as a trademark on a common word is akin to kicking a bear in his private zone as someone so eloquently put :)

Someone needs to make a company called "The Games" and then sue anyone who tried to include 'the' in titles.

To all the people saying you can't trademark a word, sadly you can. Langdel did it and that's why he's got all those lovely lawsuits going. EA is actually trying to get the trademark revoked. If they manage that, they sink every lawsit the douchebag has started.

The better question is, WHO IN GOD'S NAME LET HIM TRADEMARK A WORD!?!? Seriously, people who were working the patent office at the time should be fired...

I shall create a game called "EDGE Of Stupidity: Tim Langdell is an Idiot" and let him sue me. I'll gladly hand over the rights to that one just to see him put it on his worthless little website.

I read this wrong at first. I thought it was another case of EA trying to claim credit for what others did...but no. Seriously company I never heard of? People sue too much for dumb things.

I made an account just to be able to show you this:
http://www.amazon.com/Racers-Pc/product-reviews/B002PXUZU0/ref=cm_cr_dp_hist_5?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&filterBy=addFiveStar

apparently this guy has a new game and the review is hilarious. Its probably ironic but in my mind he is sitting in his office trying to write a review on his on game but he is just incapable of letting go of his trade marks and must include an ® in every sentence.

Right, the most obvious reason for all this is simple.

Tim Langdell cannot get an erection unless he sues someone.

I cannot think of any other rational reason for this.
I can think of another.
He's an asshole.
Yeah, that's about right.
Oh, and, edge. Edge edge edge.

With the financial muscle of EA, their lawyers go up to his and say in a Russian accent "I will break you."

See, on the one hand Langdell 'theoretically' has the law on his side, but on the other hand he's officially being a massive **** by sueing any developer with a common english word in their title.

Sooner or later, this is just going to get bit him in the ass.

Oh, and here's a respectable article politely saying how much of a wanker he is:

Funny thing from that very artcile:

"Basically he needs to sue someone like EA and get called on it, breaking his trademark and teaching him that one can't be a complete knob for 15 years without consequence."

And here we are.

So... by that exact same logic, he should be suing NIS for their use of the word in a little known about side scrolling rpg called Cross Edge.
In fact, there's an advertisement for it on his website...
How the hell does that make sense?
-edit-
What's even funnier is that on his website he takes credit for games his company never even developed (slapshot, skyrunner and alien syndrome) which was developed by Sega... seriously what the fuck?
This is bullshit, and why is this man not in jail?

urm... no
That's the game developed by Mobigames that Langdell was trying to sue them for.
He's made roughly about 70 games, but the majority of the ones on his website weren't even devloped by his company.
This man is taking credit for other people's (mainly SEGA's) work.
