Well, I doubt that will go anywhere given that US decisions can, sometimes, influence Canada, and the Supreme Court rejected pretty much this.

Some people are likely to come here saying that this would be a good thing. They've done it in the past discussing the Supreme Court ruling.
The thing is, such restrictions and controls would serve no purpose but to waste tax money, send people to jail needlessly and generally screw everything up.
Retailers will not sell "mature" rated games to minors. They ask for ID if you look like you're a minor. Whenever I go to Gamestop here in the US and want such a game, Mommy has to buy it for me. Luckily my mother is not against gaming, nor is she ignorant and non-caring of the content.

And let's not forget that Bioware is based in British Columbia. They tend to make violent and (kind of not really) sexually explicit games.
Thanks for pointing out the bit where game retailers don't sell M rated games to minors, and ask for ID if you look like a minor. I still get asked for ID when buying games and I'm 19 years old!

Oh goody, another group of crackpots that want to ban or restrict video-games...

You know... if they say that video games make gamers violent, let's use their logic against them.

So, if video games make gamers violent, let's take a look at the most evil man in history.
Adolf Hitler.

He really liked classical music, he was a fan of Wagner and we all know Carl Orff was also on that side.

So, does that mean that everyone that listens to classical music is a neo-nazi?
Don't forget that Adolf Hitler was also a painter so by that logic every painter is a neo-Nazi

OT:Oh look another VIDEO GAMES ARE EVUL group and their tripe.

Why the fuck do a group for "key female educators" care about video games at all? shouden't they be more busy whit trying to improve schools as a workplace for females or something?
This seems really random for them to lash out against this subject.
Whats next? theire gonna whine about the social situation for homosexual narwals? or maybe the the financial state of Far-away-place-nobody-gives-a-shit-about-filled-whit-donkeys?

This seems a bit more random than the Saints row 3 preorder bonus.

Looks like I'm going to have to register to vote... To be fair, it could only be video games or comics that made me do it.

I understand keeping violent or obscene materials out of the hands of children. Good concept, works fine with movies.

But like movies, why aren't games given a progressive and universal scale. PG, PG-13, R, etc. Oh wait, they DO have a scale like that for video games. Why not use it? We could even adjust the higher-end ratings to match the movie industry. I've never been a big fan of the "Mature" label anyway. Since when is R-rated cinema expected to be "Mature." Swap out M for R in the video game scale and presto, you've got a winner. Familiar and universal

If a store is allowed to sell Rated R movies (or the equivalent rating up in BC) than I see no reason why they shouldn't be allowed to sell violent or obscene games.

Goddammit, because we really need more of this drivel to make BC look bad. We were doing a fine job of that without this nonsense.

As a resident of BC, I can only offer an emphatic "fuck you" to this organization.

Geez, she is SO wrong about this.

Everybody knows that all the good games come out during the holiday season! Summer's like, the dead spot for gaming.

You know what has been proven to cause a larger reaction in children... movies. But you won't go after them will you?

Personally, I think it's their logo.

Seriously, have you ever seen a logo that pretentious before in your life? With the rose and everything? Apparently being a "Key Woman Educator" gives you license to be completely stuck up your own ass.

We already have Godwin's Law. We need a Law dealing with stupid talking heads and politicians pulling the "Won't someone think of the children!" card. Personally, I think anyone playing that card needs to be slapped upside the head, twice. Once, for using such a blatant and transparent arguement. Then, a second time, just for wasting my time.

"As summer vacation has started, children are particularly at risk for increased exposure to sunlight," the letter says. "Significant research has been conducted to determine the effects of sunlight and many of the results indicate short-term and even long-term behavioral and attitudinal changes in those who play outdoors."

"In the same way that we protect our children from secondhand smoke, we believe there would be a benefit from a ban on sunlight wherever children under 16 may be present and that exposure to same should be tightly controlled," it continues. "Please help families keep their children from the negative effects of solar exposure by legislating strict rules."
Corrected for stupidity. And cancer.

Burn the bitches. burn them all, i say.

also, i agree, use their logic against them.
Joseph Stalin Loved american cowboy films.
That means people who like cowboy films are Communist Dictators?
Hitler loved Wagner, & classical music, and ADORED Chocolate cake.
Does that mean lovers of classical music are Nazis?
Does that mean lovers of wagner are nazis?
Does that mean lovers of chocolate cake are nazi? hmm?
Hitler liked dogs. he was evil. people who like dogs are evil.

This is a necessary thing, if they had implemented this when I was a kid, I wouldn't have lung cancer from second-hand gaming.

Wait... something's off about this.

Apparently, Captacha is telling me that this comment is "from Edivvna".

In the words of Miyagi, "there are no bad students. Only bad teacher"

Or in more fitting words, there are no bad kids, only bad parents.

When a kid becomes violent, it's not the games fault, it's the dumbass parents who let games raise their children.

What's with their name and logo? The 'DKG' group which stands for Delta Kappa Gamma? As in, the greek letters for D, K and G (capital K is even the same as capital Kappa)? That's all Delta Kappa and Gamma mean, just names for letters. Dilbert's 'The TTP Project', where TTP stood for The TTP Project made more sense than this.
