I love everything to do with David Cage's games. They're always such clusterfucks of bad storytelling, poor design, and uninspired pseudo-occult bullshit. You're never bored with them! They're just too awful to be bored with. This is just the cherry on top of his latest Shit Sundae.
This sounds like the general opinion of Ride to Hell Retribution.

Just googled it, it's underwhelming to be honest. And if you've watched the latest Jimquisition you'll remember that David Cage likes to put pointless sex and nudity in his artful masterpieces QTE-fests, so it's not really a shocking revelation. I wonder if they are going to patch it out somehow, since the screenshots will just keep showing up until they do.
I'm pretty sure they can't just patch it out. In the actual game, that is just part of some shower sequence where you don't see anything. The screenshots all come from people playing on debug versions where you can manually move the camera to see her naked. The only thing I guess they could do is patch out the nipples, which honestly seems more trouble than its worth.

I woulda thought the horrible game play would've made the cut as being awful to the point of being like a train wreck that you just have to keep watching.

But in all seriousness, David Cage has expressed his infatuation (paraphrasing) for Ellen Page, so I'm not surprised he made a fully detailed model. Doesn't excuse it, but he is supposedly the main creator of all his games.

I find it really creepy that they have a naked character model in the game to begin with, if they didn't even use it. I hope this doesn't sour other celebrities to the idea of doing games.

Are you serious? All this is going to do is drum up more searches for the image, which will lead to searches for the game, which could potentially increase sales figures...

Hey... hold on a sec, you don't... mean that... YOU CRAFTY DEVILS!!!!!!

They're the same word. Which one is correct depends entirely on where you grew up and your accent.

IIRC one is an Americanisation of the other, but don't ask me which is which though.
Googled it, and it is... interesting little tidbit... actually more interesting than most of Cage's work...

Also fuck Flo from the Progressive commercial, Im fucking tired of that fucking Captcha...

So Sony (or possibly Ellen Page)is making a big deal out of nothing?

Say it with me: Fair use, assholes.

Seriously, this is classic fair use, and Sony is breaking the law by issuing these takedown notices. Somebody needs to countersue. Now Sony may or may not be in trouble with Ellen Paige's lawyers for the model being, er, fully functional to begin with, but that has no bearing on what the consumers are doing.
Err how is this fair use? Someone has used a dev kit to open up the models that are contained on the game disc and rendered them from angles that the game didn't depict, this isn't fair use in any stretch of the imagination.

This is surprising? I already predicted this exact scenario would happen before the game was released, and lo and behold. Oh David Cage, you're so predictable.

In fairness, it would be mighty creepy to find out that a bunch of people who you did some mo cap acting for rendered your nude body to an insane detail. I mean breasts are one thing. Full body nudity without consent is pretty unprofessional at the very least.
According to a fellow poster who has looked up the image (I'm at work atm, so wont for obvious reasons), it isn't a full body render just the breasts and body, nothing down below. If thats the case then it's not unusual, it's probably just the character's model with not cloths on, no effort required and since their not showing the parts you can't tell.

If that is indeed the case then someone is making a big deal out of nothing, other than maybe Sony being pissed that their model is stolen (copyright infringement) and to cover their ass just incase. Also this title is misleading.

This smells like a marketing stunt.
Beyond: Two Souls has been getting mixed reviews.
But nothing drums up sales like the promise of nudity, or even better: celebrity nudity!

Of course, now you know there will be hordes of "curious" adolescents Googling those images because of this very article. And judging by "and I mean, full detail", the writer of the article has already done just that.

Exactly. If you're a mainstream actor/actress and you hear about these kinds of scandals you're not going to want to go anywhere near the video game industry. And this is why we can't have nice things, people.

It's contained in the publicly released product. For all we know no dev kit was involved, just a modded console with some basic hex editing tools (read: modern day gameshark.) Sony could make an argument along the lines you're giving, but any judge who actually goes for it should be booted out of office for ignoring consumer protections (i.e., the law) in favor of corporate profits.

Edit: To put it in context, what Sony is doing here is like if Rockstar had tried to censor all information about the hot coffee mod, including sending takedown notices to sites hosting screenshots, instead of just admitting that they made a mistake by dummying out the code instead of removing it entirely. There's at least two points Sony could have nipped this in the bud (changing the texture for one that's about as anatomically correct as a barbie doll, or actually removing the debug mode, instead of just dummying it out), and they screwed up on both, and are now blaming the customers for their mistake.

I actually looked it up myself, and I'm not positive that there's nothing down below, because there's, like, three pictures, only two of which show breasts, and neither of which show the crotch from an angle you can be sure of. It's really something nobody would have known or cared about if Sony hadn't done this, minus the possibilities for the modding community if there's a way to get into that debug mode on a consumer console.

Oh sure, nevermind the tons of murder of innocent cops in the game just because she has a few concerns regarding CIA policy, THIS is where the line is, apparently.

It's actually pretty horrific.
Like, a cheap PS2 game level of bad graphics.

I really have to ask, why the fuck was a shower scene in a video game in the first place. Oh right, it's a cheap tool to titillate the audience. Well looks like some little game hacker just made it have more impact than they bargained for.

Nude huh?

*googles for the image*

Hmm, pretty disappointing really. I expected better.

Also, this image turned up in the search results...

Being contained on the disc does not give you the legal right to rip the file out and use it elsewhere, that's what copyright is protecting them against you doing. The model is not yours to do with as you see fit, regardless of weather a dev kit is needed or not. There is no consumer protection giving you the right to steal models from a game.

I am a little more worried the moment someone like Fox News gets word on this and runs with it, It will set video games back, because 'Oh Noes! Nudity is in video games my childrens play, and developers R pervertz!"

It's not going to be the Hot Coffee Mod, it's going to be worse, considering Cage had paid somebody to design this.
The uproars about sex in games seem to be dying down. There's been several games within the past couple of years that featured explicit nudity, for example Heavy Rain and Witcher 2, but there was no controversy.
It's not that it is a 'sex in games' situation, I may have created a bit of misdirection with my typing of the worried FOX newscaster, but if anyone hears of Ellen Page raising Cain on this for any reason, it will still reflect on video games in a bad way, because we have people in the industry trying to elevate games in many ways, but then we have David Cage doing something like this, to wit, someone on FOX News will turn this into a thing about how 'Video Games are bad' AGAIN, and it won't look good for us. Nobody at FOX will look at games like the 'Stanley Parable' or anything else that may be artful and go 'It's just like movie directors and books are dirty, while others are thoughtful', They will lump all games again, and then we have to start the cycle All over again.

Of course, I may be overreacting, since Fox is more interested in the realm of healthcare right now I imagine, but I really don't want it to be a headline, just because I think I can see how it will play out, and then we will have to deal with that stigma, even though one rotten apple doesn't necessarily mean it will spoil the whole bunch when it comes to video games now.
