Well, to be honest, console flaming doesn't bother me when it's done by people who wouldn't know any better or just ignorant. But it makes me sad that some people who otherwise seem like nice or smart people turn out to be in the front lines of console war. It's such a shame, y'know?
i'm reminded of a quote, ""People with opinions just go around bothering each other". You know who said that? the effin buddha.
i dunno about this, but it seems to me that the arguing between gamers actually helps the consoles. maybe i'm wrong, but the constant bickering allows people to exchange views, and encourages healthy competetion. it helps to push companies to improve their consoles and games. so yeah it may get annoying sometimes, but i think that in the long run it's beneficial.
Personally I don't care about console wars.
If a game is good, I will play it, regardless of the console.
Hell, I still play Genesis AND NES games. And they were warring parties at one point.
When the next generation of gaming consoles, it will no longer be the Wii vs the PS3 vs the X360, it'll be something else, doubtless between the developers, but with different consoles, and then this gen's consoles will go hand in hand and skip merrily along to the same place all other 'old consoles' go... Either the back of your cupboard, or on eBay for a fiver.
That said, it goes on in different things besides consoles. Ever heard of the mods and rockers? A bit before my own time, perhaps, but my mother was a mod, and those two short-lived groups of people warred to the extremes with one another. It's been going on since the dawn of time, and knowing how arrogant and self-loving creatures humans are, it's not going to end in this lifetime.

ummm yeh when you say n00bs......your talking about yourself because I like the xbox360 over everthing....(PCs better then all of them in my opinion)also we are not noobs.....we dont just like halo or gears of war (which gets boring.....meh)......but never, ever call any Elites noobs also we PLAY other games like castle crahsers, Worms, and also heap of other games like COD and orange box.....also Yahtzee's prasied game Saints Row 2..............our consoles do work.....umm im sure all consoles work since we can play on them you retard!itsmeyouidiot said:

I'm sick of hearing about new games that will be released in the future and everyone asking 1 question: "Which consoles will get it?".... I don't remember it being that much of a pain in the ass with the last generation of consoles... why is it such a ***** now?

When the fanboys catch sight of this it won't get pretty. But other than that the console wars in some retrospects is determined by either the games, the features or the companies themselves. But the wars seem to come down to the fact that people have opinions, even if the opinions are ill mannered and childish. Of course the console wars could end when people come to terms with the fact that no one is the same. Not everyone on the 360 likes Halo because some people don't like FPSs because it's not what they want in a videogame. Not everyone is the same and no one is. Untill people see this they will all still be fanboys through and through, no matter how big a prick it makes them.
Console wars are annoying, but understandable. People tend to judge each over based on possesions or what products they enjoy. This is why people will pay money to wear shirts with sports teams or soft drink logos on them. So, when someone starts an argument over which console is better, they're really just trying to justify why they bought one console over the other. This is especialy common on the internet, mostly game sites, when often times the only piece of information you have about the other people logged on is their taste in videogames. It's obnoxious, but it's just how people function.
