Boredom.
For so many years, the GM had felt nothing but boredom. So many worlds: infinitely many, and yet so very few of their inhabitants were even slightly interesting. Some were too silly, some were too dull, some were too mopey, some were too over-the-top...
The GM imagined what the perfect world would be like. It would have some of the people of that world, some of the people of that other one, a few characters from here, a bloke from there... God, what a world it would be! Ah, if only he could create such a thing!
...Hang on. What was he saying? Of course he could! He was the GM, dammit! The bloody Game Master! He could do anything!
Feverishly, the GM started working. Who knows? Maybe this world would go down in history! Maybe it'd totally suck, and die after three days! Who knew with these things? All the GM knew was that this world would be something different; like nothing he'd ever seen before.
The GM was done. Satisfied with the outline as it was, he moved his hands over the keyboard and hit "post". Ah, this was going to be interesting. He could feel it.

The reason I came up with this thread is because I thought it would be interesting to see how characters from completely different settings interact with one another. If, say, for example, a character from something like "Atulon's Pass" and a character from something like "Avatar Adventures" were to meet one another and have a conversation, maybe even a minor skirmish, that could be incredibly interesting for both the players and the ones reading. What's more, the characters might get into situations they might never have done otherwise: actual character development and a romantic subplot for one of the Mall Fighters, for example, or that one bloke from "The Apartments" and that other one from Shaps's "Game of Life" teaming up to fight a dragon...
This could potentially be one of the most interesting and intriguing RPs in the history of the Escapist. It could, on the other hand, completely crash and burn within a few days, bearing in mind the premise lends itself to a silly comedy (which absolutely wasn't what I had in mind); particularly when we take into account my history of GMing disasters... Well, gang, let's do our best to make sure that second thing doesn't happen. Let's make this the best RP ever, eh?
1. Your character must be a pre-existing one you've used to RP on the Escapist with before. For the sake of keeping things interesting, let's say you need to try and have one from an RP that no-one else is using a character from; this is more a guideline than an actual rule, so if you feel you absolutely must use someone from something that someone else is already using someone from, or, more importantly, you feel that it would make for better roleplaying that way, go ahead.
2. Please try and keep your posts in the same tone that you would in the original RP your character's from. This way, rather than degrading into silliness like I'm so worried it might, the world will become an interesting mix of flavours that hopefully would go more the way of ham-and-pineapple pizza (interesting and delicious blend) than a pumpkin stuffed with melted marshmallows and live locusts (doesn't even bear thinking about)...
3. Oddly enough, Godmoding is allowed. Of course some characters will be more powerful than others: if a gravity-manipulating superhuman from "Surge" and a Painted Elf from "The Unknown" were to come to blows, the superhuman would naturally be the victor. Rather than to nerf the powers of the powerful and reduce from the authenticity of the character, I shall allow the strong to stay strong and the weak to remain weak.
4. Umm... I think that's it. I feel like I should have more rules than that, but none immediately spring to mind...
5. Oh, no, wait; I've got one! When making a sheet, just copy-paste your old one from the original RP, because, of course, each character will have individual aspects to them which are more important than others. The only difference is that you should post under their name their "RP Of Origin". For people using characters from RPs without sheets, You should just make a basic thing: Name, Appearance, Abilities, Equipment etc.
Also, if you feel like it, write up a brief little "Backstory" detailing what happened to them during the events of their RP of origin; that is to say, the RP they originally came from. Just a vague little overview of the plot; no more than a couple of paragraphs long.

EDIT: Since I can't fit everyone's sheet up here, for the sake of fairness I'm not putting any of them on this first post except mine.
Name: Sam G
RP Of Origin: Avatar Adventures [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/362.101127-The-Escapist-Avatar-Adventure-An-Open-RP-Now-Re-Opened]
Appearance: A pale, skinny young man with blue hair falling over one eye. Wears a red shirt with a black jacket over it, and black trousers. Always has a playful smirk on his face.
Personality: Sam is, on a whole, cheerful most of the time; he'll do his best to help other people, and is always up for doing something interesting. He can, at times, be a little insensitive to the feelings of others, but would never deliberately mock or tease a friend of his, other than in a playful manner.
Sam has an odd habit of referencing the world he and the others live in as being fictional. This has earned him the status of being "a bit weird".
Abilities: Sam carries with him an artifact known as the "Subspace Bag", a satchel of infinite depth. The contents of the satchel are directly linked to his imagination, meaning anything he thinks about will appear in his bag. In other words, his whole fighting style revolves around being a massive Trenchcoat.
In addition to this, Sam has anime-esque levels of agility and endurance; he is able to leap over the heads of others or survive being thrown off a building.
