Wow, I went to bed after midnight sitting happily at rank 18 only to wake up this morning and find myself at rank 21. Needless to say there is now a small fist sized hole in my wall that needs fixing -_-
Huge relief to check the forum, and figure out what the hell happened. Caramel Frappe I don't blame you at all for freaking out, and tippy2k2 you and I were basically suffering the same fate. Still, I'm glad that the leader board ranks were "locked" in the contest records and that all of our hard work to get into and stay in the top 20 wasn't for naught for some cheap reason.
Well boys and girls, I had a lot of fun, although I don't believe I want to see another badge or profile with a pony picture for a very long time. Grats once again to my fellow top 20'ers, and with that I'm off to Home Depot for dry-wall and puddy.

I tried looking that up again last night, but couldn't find it...although I recall reading that earlier in the week. It said the top 20 get a chance at 1 of 3 grand prizes, everyone who plays gets a chance at 1 of 7 games. The 1 of 7 chance for everyone is why there were so many new accounts created during the contest period. I imagine there's at least a couple hundred (if not more) accounts created recently that only have the 2 contest badges. And I guarantee that you can tie a subsets of those accounts to one person. Hopefully, those accounts can be eliminated based on IP address.panafonic said:

Introduction page under "Rules" - "Grand Prize Entries are received by participating in the event and having your name appear on the leaderboard as one of the top 20 in points earned at the end of the event."
Rules & Prizes page under "The Prizes" - "Grand Prize: One (1) of three XBOX 360 consoles with Kinect sensor and the Rise of NightmaresTM video game."
Rules & Prizes page under "Official Rules & Legal Stuff" #5 - "Ten (10) Finalists will be selected by The Escapist Staff (Staff) on or about September 13th, 2011 from all eligible entries received."
So, there will be ten winners with three being chose from the top 20 for the grand prize and the other seven chosen from among all the contestants. Hope this clears a few things up.
EDIT: Finished writing this two and a half hours ago, but I forgot to hit post. So, I apologize if this has already been addressed in a post.
For those who have asked for prize clarification - Under the "Rules" section on the main event page here [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/content/riseofnightmares/?page=intro], directly above the initial registration and entry form, it expressly states the valid entries for either the Grand Prize and Secondary Prize.

Yeah but I'm fairly certain I did. Noticed it was after midnight when I finally checked my messages and saw the mansion closing, which everyone is saying that message was sent out early even so... I really have no clue. If it stopped right at midnight according to my clock, then I probably made it. If it stopped when the message was sent, then who knows.tippy2k2 said:

I know assume I wont win (Nature stores my luck up for things like surviving bullets, and normally doesnt get used on non essential things like this) but I too would like to see a corrected leader board and see who actually did win. With as crazy as it was, who ever wins deserves a round of congratulations.

I'm not sure what exactly is going on. New Troll brought my attention to the leader board change, and I noticed that it looks like how it stood when the game stopped at midnight. Weird thing is that I think a few people got suspended, so I'm not sure if this is an updated leader board after dealing with possible cheating or if it's the midnight leader board. Anyways I bring this up to say that there still might be a chance you are in the top 20.weatherfn said:
