I dunno... a girl with that many violent ex boyfriends (and girlfriend)?

Sounds like her emotional baggage would be the biggest foe to overcome than her exes! I mean, I just can't suspend by belief enough to not see Scott is the "safe" rebound placeholder for about 6 months.

Then he's going to be Ex #8 battling her next violent boyfriend.

I guess I'll pass this one up. I love video game references but despise romantic comedies and you made it clear you have to love both aspects to truly appreciate this one.

YES I AGREE!
it is nice that Canada is being Canada and not the US like in Juno
also I SAW THEM SHOTTING PARTS OF IT!
so obviously you had not problem that Michael Cera was playing Scott because many people were saying that was a wrong move.
They were shooting stuff several blocks from my appartment, feels nice to have some cool stuff besides the zoo happening in Toronto. :) (Also apparently some of the Resisdent Evil movies were shot in Toronto, what is with this City and Videogame movies?)
i agree unfortunaley i never saw the resident evil movies
i have no problem with Toronto being related to video game movies.
it is better than it being related to crappy "romantic comedies"

Looks shit, sounds shit and probably is shit. I could be wrong but I doubt it.

I really like Edgar Wright's other stuff, even his early tv work (even pre-Spaced) But I'm sorry I really don't want to see a bunch of fanwankery with hipsters and videogames.

Okay, I'm going to make a prediction before watching video. Hopefully it will come true. MovieBob will say it's great, but Michael Cera really let's it all down.

*The video watching commences...*

Okay... Fair enough.

Calumon: Guess we're gonna watch it then? But Toy Story!!!

I'm pretty excited for this.

The comics were quasi-manga, angsty, lol-random humour which usually I would avoid like the fucking plague... but I loved them for some reason.

So that plus Ed Wright means this movie should be pretty awesome.

Also I was wondering how they were going to end it since volume six wasn't out when they made it. (Still need to read that one actually, better get on it before I see the filnm so I can compare the endings).

That's kinda a big chunk of the plot for the latter books.

I so have to see this. I love Micheal Cera, have been watching him since Arrested Development.

This sounds just like the kind of quirky, not afraid the mainstream won't get it, entertainment that I look for.

I felt that Michael Cera was the weakest one in the movie, Ramona Flowers was great, Kieren Culkin was awesome as the roommate and some of the exs Brandon Routh and Chris Evans in particular are masterfully shown belittling their own comic book origins.

Michael Cera however only has one mode, whiny geeky teen, the fact that he winks at the camera and kicks ass does not make him any better.

However based on supporting cast and Edgar Wrights direction still a great film

WANT SEE MOVIE

I now almost regret going to see Toy Story 3 yesterday.
Then again, when I can get £5 to actually see the film, it'll be less popular and I'll have the cinema to myself.
Hopefully.

I don't know, but more people need to hear about this. Maybe then I won't be the only non-Canadian to like Canada!

Canada playing Canada? As it did in Strange Brew, Brain Candy, The Whole Nine Yards, etc etc? Canada either used by Candians because its what they know or used by Americans who want to highlight the differences? Do we need to beat some "Get Over Yourself" into Canada too, or just the movie nerds of Canada? Either way, fuck Canada.
You're not nice. Canada is cool!

Ahhh, I knew you'd love this one, Bob. I saw it and one of the first things I thought afterward was that I'd be seeing a positive review from you soon.

I personally loved it, too. I was giggling most of the way through. I loved every character, every reference, every blink-and-you'll-miss-it gag they had peppered throughout its manic scenes. It was one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen, but that just endeared me to it even more.

(Seriously, where was the fourth wall in that film? I assumed that most of what we were seeing was metaphorical from Scott's POV until he asked his friend how she did that thing with her mouth...)

Yeah, I can easily see why people wouldn't like it, but I'd recommend it to pretty much any nerd I know.

Also: it's one of those rare films that's just perfect for the female nerd. No off-putting sexploitation of female characters and still certifiably geeky? A solid romance plot, but no characters with which it is simply impossible to identify? Amazing.

I wonder when they're going to make a live-action MegaMan movie?
You're too late.

Big surprise moviebob liked it. Well this movie is pretty a wet dream for me, I just don't know how i'm gonna convince my girlfriend to go. I don't understand how people can say Michael Cera is NOT right for this role, he specialises in the whiny and flawed hipster. I guess I just have a soft spot for him considering he's, well, pretty much me in every way.
