Zero replay value, SHIT! have I been doing it wrong?
(100 hours)
And I dont have live.

MyGod! No replay! I must have been secretly drugged by Bungie and hypnotised into believing that I was enjoying myself by replaying the campaign to dick around or jus challenge myself on Legendary.

OT: I actually like both, I enjoyed the MP of MW2 and LOVE Halo excessively. I liked MW2s campaign (15 hours - thank you replay and veteran!) and was really put off Black Ops by everything in it (pretty much). It was five steps down from MW2 which stepped up from WaW, which went down from 4 which went up from 3 which went down from 2, which went down from 1+UO.

So thats what happened!
Bungie you crafty bastards!

I can give you one good reason. THIS IS THE ESCAPIST! You can find just about anyone on here who can find a game terrible that a good majority of everyone else likes. But then again that's what makes humans unique, we each form our own opinions based on reasoning. That and anyone who has played CoD or Halo knows how frustrating it can be to listen to some ass making fun of you over their microphone. I personally have nothing against Halo or CoD. I do make fun of Halo though, only because it is a Juggernaut, nothing I say will ever impact the sales of a Halo game, the same goes for CoD. Here's a tip for the future, people on the escapist will hate the games you love, and love the games you hate, that good sir is what makes The Escapist the Escapist.

So, they make awesome games! and have a lot of innovation. so whats wrong with that. but yeah you do have a point there is a bias...i.e me.

Halo is actually awesome, and has very deep gameplay, with a very developed physics engine. I like to make fun of it by calling it "power rangers in space with guns," but I actually like the game very much.

Every call of duty game other than blops has been awesome. My problem is not with the series, but with the people who play it. Blops sucked because it was mw2 reskinned. Treyarch tried to imitate mw2, and got shit instead.

My other beef with mw2 was that it claimed to be a military shooter, which it was not. It's an arcade shooter, and that's fine, but I couldn't enjoy it until I realized what it was.

I am annoyed that Cod hasn't brought anything new to the table in a while. The only new feature I saw in blops was the dive feature, and as cool as that was, it was sort of useless. The problem is the public doesn't demand/want change, and the series has potential yet to improve. What if Cod had a cover system like killzone? What If you could attach to walls in first person and lean 'round corners to shoot? It could become extremely fun.

I guess I am a lesser-man for enjoying both CoD and Halo: Reach. I didn't get the same enjoyment with the previous entries thanks to a peculiar nuisance, the flood. Completely destroy the mood of the game, and turn it into yet another zombie-shooter.

They never build on anything that they have. Just churn out the same crap with one or two added features at best.

It was slightly less relevant for Halo until that piece of shit about the marines who drop down in those pods that just amounted to a Halo 3 expansion sequel, that earned it full fledged disgust.

Most of the time I chalk it up to "It's popular, thus it SUCKS!!1".

Most games produced aren't made to make some artistic statement or attempt to revolutionize the media - with all due respect to the fellows at Extra Credits, some games are just made for the sake of having simple cathartic and fun escapism from the real world, and game developers should focus on what makes a game fun as opposed to how to accurately portray the sociological turmoil modern western civilization has woven into its very cultural identity.

Sometimes, we just want a murky dude with a turban shouting "ALLAHU AKBAR" to shoot at. We don't care for his motivations and alignment, he's making our reticules turn red, that means he DIES. Boom, bang, ratatat-pow!

Innovation is all well and good, but it really isn't the point of the medium. Fun is. Games are fun. Shooting digital guns at digital dudes is fun. If you disagree that a particular form of shooting digital dudes with digital guns is fun, then that's fine, just don't shove it in people's faces.

I mean jeez. It'd be just as senseless if I hunted down every Firefly fanboy thread out there just to point out that I didn't think it was even a remotely good show and that its cancellation was well deserved. It's just entertainment. We can agree to disagree and just not whine about the sticks up our asses whenever they're mentioned...

Well, I don't play shooters except those that I feel are worth my time (i.e. Bulletstorm, Serious Sam). Ergo, I find Halo boring except the setting, and I think CoD is one of the most overrated franchises recently released (but I digress, even I think ME and DA are overrated, especially the former's sequel).

But I'm just one out who knows how many members out this site. I also like to think I'm a bit more sensible since I go off personal observations and experiences, not word-of-mouth and Yahtzee.

CoD and HALO are like the Starbucks and McDonalds of the real world.

(TBF, TF2 is like the late-night kebab shops)

Similar sorts of dislike because similar sorts of reasonings.

BTW, mainstream "popular" things can still deserve ire. Look at Jersey Shore.

Call of Duty I understand to a point. I think through Call of Duty 4 they were well-made games with a tense atmosphere and realistic feel. After that they became more than a little derivative, and I understand the hate.

Halo simply doesn't deserve it. It's two things; one, Halo gets hate because it's a derivative first-person shooter. People often forget to stop and think for a second about the fact that Halo played a large part in creating the standard by which it is considered derivative. Criticizing it for being derivative is just plain dumb.

Secondly, it gets hate because some of the gameplay concepts it created or popularized have gone on to become shooter staples, allowing for a lack of innovation in the rest of the genre. This, again, is a stupid complaint. It basically amounts to, "Halo was good, so now everyone rips it off and there's no originality, so Halo sucks." Blaming unoriginality on the revolutionary game that first presented the oft-copied elements? Seriously?

Also, the story has much, much, much better than most people seem to realize. Like really, really good. Seriously.
Agreed on the Halo part (still enjoy Black Ops here and there) as it doesn't deserve most of the hate it gets.

WHen i played CoD4 years ago, i got to talk and ask for help in my first match of HQ, and they helped me a lot, telling good killing spots, where not to go , etc.

I played CoD:BO regularly, mostly in a party with a friend so i don't hear the rest f the people, but when i do, i never get people screaming fagget and those stuff.

I play Harcore, maybe most of those people are in regular DM :p

Hipster-only forum?

'Hipster only'? Lol!

I feel like the word 'Hipster' is being massively mis-used these days.

It doesn't describe a minority of organic food eating, jean short wearing 'The XX' fans anymore but more like 'anyone I don't agree with'... same way 'troll' gets flung around in here all the time.
U mad, newfag?
Problem?

It's funny, because I come from the bungie.net forums, and there is just about the same hate on cod and halo.

Honestly, it's as has been said before: when it comes to those two games, the fanbase is either "BEST GAME EVAAAR" or "HATE IT" and a lot of critics respond to the first one.

Like Mass Effect, Bioshock and Goldeneye?
Mass Effect isn't an FPS.

Bioshock seems to be regarded as a dumbed down System Shock by many people on this forum.

Not seen Goldeneye mentioned anywhere.

I think that's a terrible generalisation. I recognise the faults of the Halo series, doesn't mean I'm going to stop liking it.

That is a massive generalization to make with purely anecdotal evidence. Secondly, you just said that you dislike halo solely because other people like it. That's a very illegitimate reason.

OT: People want to stand out from the crowd, so they choose to rag on popular games. Sometimes there is genuine dislike, but most of it is nullified by the mute button, which no-one seems to have discovered.

Maybe have been me then. Halo 1 I never even finished. Gotta say, the Library was the only level in a game that was so horrid it made me quit the entire game and never play it again. Halo 2, well... the 5 minutes on Earth was about the only fun part. The rest, I don't have a 360.

Although I was on normal and had heard a lot about it so was expecting hell.
