My first job was a summer job when I was 17. It was a clerical position in a government building, the county's Juvenile Justice System. I liked working there because it's where my mother works, and all the probation officers knew me since I was little. Plus, while filing paperwork, I got to sneak a peak at the juvenile records of all the little shitheads from school :v

I worked in a cinema. I started off doing the rounds, cleaning shit up as people left the different screens, then they moved me onto a till until I eventually got sacked.

.....God I wish they never moved me onto the tills. There's no faster way to come to hate your fellow man than having to serve them popcorn.

I worked for my dad last summer performing odd jobs around a cemetery/crematorium in London. I mostly mowed the grass but I also did a bit of weed killing, filing and cremating. I can't say it was fun but I got through it and it was definitely worth the money so I have no reason to complain.

I did have to deal with a few... strange people. A polish lady shouted at me for cutting down a tree when I hadn't done anything and on one of the hotter days a guy was sunbathing in his speedos in front of the chapel. Something about doing that in a cemetery just seems really weird.

Technically the first time I undertook paid employment was helping out my grandfather when he took a part-time post-retirement job at a hardware store. I actually really enjoyed it.

My first actual job was as a checkout operator at a supermarket. It sucked.

It was doing the occasional random things for the printing office my uncle worked at. I already knew some of the personell through my uncle and still have good connections with that company. I mostly did punch holes in some printing-foil thingy, which was very boring by itself, but I just had a great time with the people there. I did a lot of stuff there besides that. Operated some lighting machine thingy for a while, stored files, went out to get supplies for the guys, packed stuff, etc. It's safe to say that I got payed way more then avarage and it was really good.

I worked as a cartpusher at a bigbox store. Was alright, no one bothered you as long as people had plenty of shopping carts.

My first job was a summer camp councilor. The pay was terrible and I wasn't very good at it, but it was kinda fun. Hardly really felt like a job.

I moved our house for my mum, other than that it was temp work at a GP surgery, sorting files and scanning documents.

Closest I had to a job was an internship at my high school that I was forced to do in order to pass a class.

Ahh, memories. I was a teenage, uh contract laborer. I did carpentry, masonry, painting and concrete slab work. It keeps me from thinking bad of my jobs since.

Telemarketing. I only did it for a very short time, 'cause you know, it sucks. But hey, at least I was selling telephone subscriptions instead of something completely useless. I really feel sorry for the people that have to sell magazines or some shit. After that experience, I've never been rude to a telemarketer, ever. I know their pain.

McDonalds. I applied every other place I could think of before applying there. None of them replied, so I broke down and put in and application. Before I could even leave the building after turning it in there was a manager chasing after me, shouting "Wait, wait! We want to hire you!" Later that day I was in orientation, learning basic things about the company (benefits and whatnot), and filling out my first I-9 and W-4. I spent a year and a half there. It was...educational, I learned a lot about how people and the world work. It payed money and opened the door for other jobs, so I guess I can't really complain. I definitely am not going back if I can at all help it, though.

I worked at McDonalds when I was 15. It was a non-stop pace, but it was good to me. Allowed me to make my own money, get the games I wanted and have fun. While my friends had to wait for birthdays, Christmas, or whenever their parents were feeling generous to get a new game, I was able to get Vanguard Bandits on the PS1 for myself and not even question where the money was coming from. It was actually pretty sweet.

My first job was a joke of a paint company for a summer. They paid us $16 an hour plus commission per phone number retrieved to go around a specific location trying to sell their service door to door and handing out pamphlets.

My friend and I practically stole money from them. We would throw out their signs, then drive down the street writing down house numbers, and then hang out at a cafe all day calling our friends and asking if it was cool if we wrote down their numbers on our sheet. All they had to do was refuse service when they called. Which they often didn't. Together we "earned" about $5000 from that company. For honestly about 2 hours of actual work.

Also, I'm fairly sure the boss was banging his secretary.

Stickin it to the maaaaaaaan.

My first job was working as a cleaner at the offices of a newspaper. Wasn't a very nice job or particularly well paid. My mother was at the time the head cleaner, so she let me work a few summers there when I was about 14 til 16 to get make some money. Not a lot of places would hire people younger than 18. I was paid something like ?20 a day, though the day was only 4 hours long, we were the "night shift".

A law firm. I worked as a filing clerk. It mostly involved reading cases, and sorting them out by content and what they were requesting. Fun times. Fun times.

It was pretty cool coz I'd done learning courses there and it was nice to teach kids.
I was CRB'ed so don't freak out.

Customer service/chashiering at a PetSmart. I fuckin' hated it, but I still worked there for three years.

My first job was stringing wires between lightposts for a local power company. It was stupid heavy work, and I worked 60-70 hour weeks for 2 months straight. It paid well though ($20/hr plus double overtime), and opened up a whole bunch of jobs elsewhere, because I could prove that I could do heavy work, and allowed me to get some easier stocking/inventory jobs at local businesses that fit into my schooling schedule.
